The integration of database and programming languages is made difficult by the different data models and type systems prevalent in each field. functional-object query languages contribute to bridge this gap by letting software developers write declarative queries without imposing any specific execution strategy. Although some query optimizers support this paradigm, Java provides no means to embed queries in a seamless and typesafe manner. Interestingly, the benefits of such grammar extension (compile-time type inference and checking, user-friendly syntax) can alternatively be achieved with a compiler plugin as discussed in this paper for the LINQ query language and two Java compilers (from Sun and Eclipse). A prototype confirms the benefits of the approach by automating at compile-time (a) the parsing of LINQ queries nested in Java, (b) their analysis for well-formedness, and (c) their rewriting into statements to build Abstract Syntax Trees (ASTs). The technique is also applicable to other languages (JPQL, XQuery) which are handled nowadays by a Java compiler as uninterpreted strings, being thus prone to runtime exceptions due to breaches of static semantics.

With the rapid development of social economy and the increasing frequency of global trade, translation services are crucial to international trade. However, the traditional translation system supports a single language, which cannot meet the translation efficiency and accuracy required by the users. The realization of multilingual mutual translation has become the bottleneck of the development of international trade. The application of computer intelligent translation system in international trade has become a research hotspot. This paper studies the computer intelligent translation system, combines natural language processing, machine translation and neural network technology, and designs a computer intelligent translation system based on natural language processing. The architecture of the whole system includes functional modules, system structure and hardware structure. In this paper, the system is divided into functional modules and uses this model to identify and analyze the results of machine translation. The experimental results show that the computer intelligent translation system designed here has high accuracy without manual intervention. Compared with traditional machine translation methods, this system shows obvious advantages in both translation accuracy and time cost. By combining natural language processing, machine translation and neural network technology, the system can better meet the needs of multilingual mutual translation and improve the accuracy and efficiency of translation. It can effectively improve the accuracy of translation and reduce the time cost while ensuring the quality of translation. © 2023 IEEE.

Statically typed languages with Hindley-Milner polymorphism have long been compiled using inefficient and fully boxed data representations. Recently, several new compilation methods have been proposed to support more efficient and unboxed multi-word representations. Unfortunately, none of these techniques is fully satisfactory. For example, Leroy's coercion-based approach does not handle recursive data types and mutable types well. The type-passing approach (proposed by Harper and Morrisett) handles all data objects, but it involves extensive runtime type analysis and code manipulations. This paper presents a new flexible representation analysis technique that combines the best of both approaches. Our new scheme supports unboxed representations for recursive and mutable types, yet it only requires little runtime type analysis. In fact, we show that there is a continuum of possibilities between the coercion-based approach and the type-passing approach. By varying the amount of boxing and the type information passed at runtime, a compiler can freely explore any point in the continuum-choosing from a wide range of representation strategies based on practical concerns. Finally, our new scheme also easily extends to handle type abstractions across ML-like higher-order modules.

functional languages can be enriched with logic variables to provide new computational features such as incremental construction of data structures. In this paper, we present a novel application for logic variables that highlights their importance: we argue that they are essential for explicating the process of demand propagation in lazy evaluation of functional programs. There are two applications of this result. First, it provides a 'RISC' approach to lazy evaluation that has several advantages over implementations based on literal graph reduction. Second, it suggests new strictness analysis algorithms in which logic variables play an important role. © 1988 ACM.

In this paper, the method of designing datapath and controller of an ALU using verilog hardware description language is illustrated with help of an example. Initially, the architecture of ALU at functional blocks level is laid out, so that datapath can be designed based on that. Later, the algorithmic flow chart and synchronous sequential state diagram for controller is drawn. A verilog code for the ALU which consists of above two sub-modules is written. Open source tool called iverilog is utilized for simulating the verilog code. It dumps the result on a file from which timing diagram of various signals can be plotted. Another open source software called Gtkwave is used for this purpose. So, in this paper, starting from systematic design of ALU, coding in verilog to simulation and verification using free tools is explained. © 2021 IEEE.

Abstract machine descriptions of parallel computer architectures must capture communications and concurrency characteristics at a high level. Current design techniques and notations are weak in this respect. We present a layered method for refinement of a requirements specification through to a detailed systems architecture design. This paper concentrates on the two highest layers, the logical model, which is a requirements statement, and the systems architecture, which specifies logical processes and explicit communications. While requirements are expressed in a language that matches the problem domain, we suggest that a parallel object-oriented notation is most appropriate for the systems architecture layer. Refinements within this layer reflect implementation details (eg. structure sharing and distribution of work among processing elements). We introduce a parallel object-oriented notation based on rewriting systems concepts and use it to refine the design of a parallel graph reduction machine to execute functional programs. The notation used is a natural extension of a graph rewriting language and the work forms the basis for a structured explication of parallel graph rewriting in which all communications are made explicit. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 1989.

XYLUS is a virtualized programming environment that addresses coder's mobility, hassle free coding environment, project management and team coordination. It aims to provide a coder or a team of coders to create, manage, develop, compile, execute and share a complete or partial set of development projects on the web without having any development and associated tools. This is mainly achieved through developing a virtualized integrated development environment completely functional on a browser, a web server hosting the virtual machine environment, a set of web services to carry out the necessary communication and synchronization, and a developer portal as the focal point of the whole environment. In this paper we describe the main architecture, working, related issues and challenges of the system. We have tested this concept and architecture on developing projects for .NET platform with C# as the base language. We observe that such environments offer plenty of useful and charming features to the developers with the some burden and sacrifice of flexibility. ©2010 IEEE.

Research in context-aware user interfaces aims to improve human-computer interaction by providing more effective, smarter and user-friendlier solutions for computer applications. Currently, software available for performing such research and developing context-aware interfaces is very limited both in scope and possibilities of extension. Sycophant was designed with two objectives in mind: first, to allow easy insertion of new features and capabilities needed for conducting research and, second, to provide a reusable, readily available programming resource for developing new context-aware interactive software applications. Available as open source software, Sycophant's API and the calendaring application we created using it are presented in this paper in terms of functional capabilities, high level architecture, detailed design, and results of use. Procedural steps for developing new context-aware user interfaces using our API are also described in the paper. © 2007 IEEE.
