The article presents a method of measuring energy consumption with the NVIDIA graphics processing unit and energy consumption in response to the number of operating units. The architecture of graphics processing unit has been considered as well as the method of energy consumption of GPU. The experiment is based on multiplication of matrices. Brief results and dependency of counting time from number of computing elements are also demonstrated. A simple way to understand the difference between a CPU and GPU is to compare how they process tasks. The CPU consists of a few cores optimized for sequential serial processing while the GPU has a massively parallel architecture consisting of thousands of smaller, more efficient cores designed for handling multiple tasks simultaneously.

This paper deals with the control laws reconfiguration of nonlinear systems, by using a Fuzzy-Model-based Predictive Control (FMPC). It should be noted that the studied systems are written in the quasi-linear parametric varying (quasi-LPV) form. This FMPC strategy is developed to preserve closed-loop stability in the nominal and actuator faulty case. Fault accommodation by perturbations rejection is presented. This step is done by interpolation-based control to cover the entire area of operation. To allow the process to maintain current performances closed to desired performances, a dynamic optimizer is used. Our contribution comes from the combination of several aspects: fuzzy model, quadratic programming and faults decoupling principle. The linearization around a family of equilibrium points is also studied. The operating points are appropriately configured by a set of variables called premise.

Optical nanofibers are versatile platforms for exploring nonlinear optical phenomena due to their strong light confinement and robust evanescent fields. In this paper, we investigate evanescent stimulated Raman scattering in a silica optical nanofiber submerged in different nonlinear liquids at 1064 nm. Through numerical analysis, we identify the optimal nanofiber radius to maximize modal Raman gain. Our study considers ethanol, perfluorohexane, and cyclohexane as representative nonlinear liquids, examining modal Raman gain relative to nanofiber radius, nonlinear liquid refractive index, and Raman gain coefficient. Results show that nonlinear liquid choice significantly impacts optimal nanofiber radius and achievable Raman gain. We also highlight potential applications of stimulated Raman scattering in optical nanofibers, including wavelength converters, signal amplification, and integrated photonics devices for telecommunications and sensing applications.

We present DGPF, a framework providing multi-objective, auto-adaptive search algorithms with a focus on Genetic programming. We first introduce a Common Search API, suitable to explore arbitrary problem spaces with different search algorithms. Using our implementation of Genetic Algorithms as an example, we elaborate on the distribution utilities of the framework which enable local, Master/Slave, Peer-To-Peer, and P2P/MS hybrid distributed search execution. We also discuss how heterogeneous searches consisting of multiple, cooperative search algorithms can be constructed. Sensor networks are distributed systems of nodes with scarce resources. We demonstrate how Genetic programming based on our framework can be applied to create algorithms for sensor nodes that use these resources very efficiently.

The proliferation of smart communication devices based on technologies such as Radio-Frequency IDentification (RFID) makes ubiquitous computing evolving at a frantic pace. This evolution leads to the development of applications, called monitoring applications, that offer a host of new functionalities based on context information provided by tagged entities. In this paper we introduce a software architecture dedicated to monitoring applications and define a mapping to the Amigo middleware which is dedicated to ambient computing. We illustrate our approach by developing two real-size applications for child monitoring and object reminder In these experiments, our approach have demonstrated its usability and ease of programming.

A common home consists of some electrical loads such as lighting, laundry appliances, kitchen appliances, climate control equipment, entertainment devices, etc. All devices consume lots of electric power in spite of being on their standby mode. In this chapter, programmable smart plugs with bundled ZigBee (IEEE 802.15.4) are introduced without the need of replacing the present appliances. The implemented software allows programming, controlling and real-time monitoring over TCP/IP platform. Furthermore, an energy management system with smart plugs is also proposed in the system framework to efficiently utilize the energy consumption.
