This paper aims to provide a high performance sensorless control of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) based on nonlinear position and speed observer with stator-resistance adaptation. The nonlinear observer gives estimation of the rotor position using a trigonometric function and the speed estimation is obtained from estimated position using proportional-integral (PI) tracking controller. In this paper, model reference adaptive system (MRAS) technique has been used for stator resistance estimation in sensorless speed control of IPMSM with space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM). The MRAS technique is simple and it requires less computation time. Simulation results with 1.1 kW IPMSM have validated the effectiveness of the proposed sensorless speed control using nonlinear observer with stator resistance estimation.

Adapting systems to the changes of their ubiquitous environments is a complex task. The autonomic computing was proposed as a solution to tackle this complexity. It brings a system with self-management capabilities to dynamically adapt itself to context. We are interested in the architectural adaptation approaches of autonomic applications which follow the MAPE-K loop process. During the execution of this loop, decisions are made in order to select the most suitable architectural configuration of the application according to context. In this paper, we study research activities dealing with decision. Then, we propose an overview of our decision approach to adapt autonomic applications. We also present an overview of our decision module which aims to assist developers on programming the decision-making process of their applications.

We present a practical implementation of a cell projection algorithm for interactive visualization of large volumetric data sets using programmable graphics cards. By taking advantage of the data regularity, we can avoid computing some steps of the original algorithm with no quality loss. Furthermore, performance is increased since more than half the processing time is dedicated only for rendering. We also provide two tools for better user interactivity, one for transfer function editing and another for volume clipping. Our algorithm generates high quality images at a rendering speed of over 5.0 M Tet/s on current graphics hardware.

Web service orchestration technologies are emerging as practical means to integrate business partners' applications with higher levels of functionality, negligible performance degradation, reduced development effort, and better quality of service. However, because most compositional languages address distribution concerns at the early stage of the business process definition, Web-based applications become more static and more difficult to develop. In this paper we propose a method to reduce the complexity of Web service orchestration by using a new compositional language named BPCL (Business Process Coordination Language) that keeps apart physical distribution details. Furthermore, a coordination architecture has been built to support the common process abstractions used in business collaboration by means of a synchronization and communication infrastructure. In the proposed approach, to obtain a Web-based application, aspect oriented programming is used to weave locality transparent BPCL programs with the distribution handling capabilities supported by the coordination architecture. Besides of simplifying the development of orchestrated Webbased applications, the main contribution of this work consists on providing a coordination language and architecture that promote greater dynamism, non-invasive code reuse and efficient execution.

It is sometimes difficult in real situations to estimate the coefficients of decision variables in multi-objective model. Even though mathematical analysis may contribute to determine these coefficients, historical data used may contain fuzzy and random properties and should be treated properly. Thus, this paper introduces a fuzzy random regression to approximate the coefficients;specifically the goal constraints of goal programming model. We propose a two phase-based approach for the solution model;first, we construct the goal constraints using fuzzy random regression model and, second, we solve the multi-objective problem with a fuzzy additive goal programming. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the model.

In this paper, we further develop recent results in the numerical solution of Hamiltonian partial differential equations (PDEs) (Brugnano et al., 2015), by means of energy-conserving methods in the class of Line Integral Methods, in particular, the Runge-Kutta methods named Hamiltonian Boundary Value Methods (HBVMs). We shall use HBVMs for solving the nonlinear Schrodinger equation (NLSE), of interest in many applications. We show that the use of energy-conserving methods, able to conserve a discrete counterpart of the Hamiltonian functional, confers more robustness on the numerical solution of such a problem.
