Several aspects such as the large amounts of knowledge that can be found in the Internet applications field, the rapid and continuous evolution of Internet, and methodological problems that have been commonly reported in computer programming courses, challenge the designing and development of Internet application courses. In this paper, we present an integral pedagogical approach to design and teach such courses, considering all of those aspects by means of: (1) The definition of a balance among several thematic axes, and the generation of high-level programming skills;(2) a structured set of learning resources along with tools that facilitate the management and evolution of them;and (3) a pedagogical active learning model that helps instructors teach in a systematic way.

The paper provides a summary of paper presentations at the 2ndinternationalconference on applications of Machine Learning to Ecological Modelling and a preview of forthcoming developments in this area. Artificial neural networks were demonstrated to be very useful for nonlinear ordination and visualization of ecological data by Kohonen networks, and ecological time-series modelling by recurrent networks. Genetic algorithms proved to be very innovative for hybridizing deductive models, and evolving predictive rules, process equations and parameters. Newly emerging adaptive agents provide a novel framework for the discovery and forecasting of emergent ecosystem structures and behaviours in response to environmental changes. For finite convergent term-rewriting systems it is shown that the equational unification problem is recursively independent of the equational matching problem, the word matching problem, and the 2nd-order equational matching problem. Apart from the latter these results are derived by considering term-rewriting systems on signatures that contain unary function symbols only (i.e., string-rewriting systems). Also for this special case 2nd-order equational matching is shown to be reducible to Ist-order equational matching. In addition, we present some new decidability results for simultaneous equational matching and unification. An orbital three-player differential game among Target spacecraft, Pursuer spacecraft and Evader spacecraft is studied in this work. It is assumed that Target spacecraft runs in its orbit without the ability of maneuver, while Pursuer spacecraft and Evader spacecraft have continuous maneuverability. There are opposing objectives between Pursuer spacecraft and Evader spacecraft. The objective of Pursuer spacecraft is to keep Evader spacecraft far away from Target spacecraft while Evader spacecraft tries its best to shorten the distance from it to Target spacecraft prior to being intercepted. The orbital three-player differential game terminates when Evader spacecraft performs successful interception of Target spacecraft or it is intercepted by Pursuer spacecraft. The semi-direct collocation with nonlinearprogramming incorporated with NSGA-II algorithm which provides the initial guess is employed to solve the current three-player differential game. Numerical simulation was provided to verify the availability of the algorithm in finding the optimal solution of the orbital three-player differential game presented in this paper, and the results show that this work will be useful to some practical applications.

The article deals with the simulation of robust control system for nonlinear non-affine scalar dynamic objects. The considered system is constructed by using the hyperstability criterion, dynamic filter-corrector and the L-dissipativity conditions. This approach enabled synthesis of the robust law that provides fulfillment of specified quality indicators of the system operation in the presence of nonlinear parameters and structural disturbances. The aim of this article is the study of dynamic characteristics of the robust control system for non-affine nonlinear control objects with different nonlinear parameters. With help of computational experiment, the regulator coefficients are selected, which provide a predetermined precision tracking of the command signal.

In this paper we present a flexible method for representing and optimizing smooth trajectories along specified paths for robotic applications. The main idea of this approach consists in defining the geometric path and the kinematics of the trajectory by independent parametric functions. The geometric path in the joint space can be any parametric curve q(u), the only restriction is that q must be twice differentiable with respect to the parameter u. The kinematics of the trajectory is defined by modulating the parameter u with respect to the time by a C-2 piecewise cubic spline function. The trajectory is optimized using a non-linear programming approach capable of accommodating various constraints and different optimization criteria.

In the airlines management, cabin layout selection is an important but weak link. Most of airlines determinate cabin layout by selection from several schemes provided by aircraft manufacturers rather than quantitative analysis and comprehensive assessment, which leads to deviation from their strategic objectives. This paper proposes to establish a decision-making mechanism based on strategic objectives to improve cabin layout selection process and build a quantitative analysis model according to it. For the model, we focus on layout pitch to build a nonlinear tri-level programming and develop an algorithm that embed chaos search factor Chebyshev map into tsPSO (extremum disturbed and simple particle swarm optimization) for better searching globe optimality. Lastly, a case study is presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the model.

In this paper we address soliton-soliton interactions in a nonlinear cubic-quintic optic media, using for that purpose numerical methods and high performance graphics processor unit (GPU) computing. We describe an implementation of GPU-based computational simulations of the generalized nonlinear Schrodinger Equation, obtaining simulations more than 40 times faster relative to CPU-based simulations, especially in the multidimensional case. We focus our attention in the study of soliton collisions and scattering phenomena that, offering the possibility of steering light with light, open a path towards future optical devices.
