This paper explores a comprehensive study at the application of second harmonic generation in low power laser generation by introducing electro-optically adjustable nonlinear phase shift inside a LiNbO 3 crystal. Research on electro-optically adjustable nonlinear phase shift in high power laser generation is completed already by way of the usage of special crystals having higher electro-optic coefficients and higher damage threshold. However, crystal having lower damage threshold can withal be habituated to create this mentioned phenomenon if having better electro-optic coefficients. Hence, on this paper the advanced traits of LiNbO 3 like higher electro-optic coefficients and lower damage threshold that makes this crystal very much handy to increase cascaded nonlinearity in low power laser generation are proposed. As consistent with our theoretical analysis, the propagating fundamental wave is oscillating at 1064 nm parallel to y-axis of the crystal having crystal cut at θ = 67.14737 ° and φ = 90 ° in phase matching direction. A analytical voltage of ±2.5 kV is applied across the crystal's thickness of 5 mm along z-axis of the crystal that creates the phase shift in between the incident and reconveretd fundamental waves which is nonlinear in nature. This nonlinear phase shift can be facilely tuned from maximum to minimum value by adjusting the applied external electric field.

Based on testing angle-ply composite specimens with different lay-ups, the lamina elastic properties are defined by minimization of the error function determining the differences between the predicted and measured strains. The problem that a number of the measured values obtained as a result of testing exceeds that of the lamina elastic constants is resolved by using the linear algebra methods with assessment of stability of the solutions against random perturbations of the matrix and/or column of free terms. Based on the lamina elastic constants defined, an analysis of the lamina nonlinear and time-depended properties is carried out and the lamina in-plane shear creep is described, the weak singular Abel's operator and matrix algorithms being used. To obtain the explicit forms of stiffness and compliance matrices of laminated composites on the basis of classical lamination theory relations, the assumption that their physical nonlinearity and rheological characteristics are substantially determined by the corresponding lamina in-plane shear properties is used, and the corresponding constitutive equations are derived to describe the anisotropy of their nonlinear and time-dependent properties. Testing a number of angle-ply polymer composite specimens under time variable loading shows the applicability of the approach elaborated. The satisfactory agreement between experimental and predicted data is observed.

Although ridesharing is a potential transport model for reducing fuel consumption, green-house gas emissions and improving efficiency, it is still not widely adopted due to the lack of providing monetary incentives for ridesharing participants. Most studies regarding ridesharing focus on travel distance reduction, cost savings and successful matching rate in ridesharing systems, which do not directly provide monetary incentives for the ridesharing participants. In this paper, we address this issue by proposing a performance index for ridesharing based on monetary incentives. We formulate a problem to optimize monetary incentives in ridesharing systems as non-linear integer programming problem. To cope with computational complexity, an evolutionary computation approach based on a variant of PSO is adopted to solve the non-linear integer programming problem for ridesharing systems based on cooperative coevolving particle swarms. The results confirm the effectiveness the proposed algorithm in solving the nonlinear constrained ridesharing optimization problem with binary decision variables and rational objective function.

Support vector machine (SVM) is a classification model, which learns the decision surface that maximizes the margin in the feature space. Such a decision surface has a good classification ability for unknown new samples. In real-world applications, the data set usually contains many noises and outliers, which will affect the learning of the decision surface, thus the maximum margin cannot be obtained, and the generalization ability of SVM will be reduced. In this paper, we introduce an adjacency factor to each input point to characterize the local neighbor relationship between each point. Weighting each sample point by the adjacency factor can let different sample points make different contributions to the learning of the decision surface. Thus, we can filter out the influence of noises and outliers on the decision surface by this weighting method. We propose this new method namely local neighborhood reliability weighted support vector machine (LN-SVM).

Approximate circuits have been developed to provide good tradeoffs between power consumption and quality of service in error resilient applications such as hardware accelerators of deep neural networks (DNN). In order to accelerate the approximate circuit design process and to support a fair benchmarking of circuit approximation methods, libraries of approximate circuits have been introduced. For example, EvoApprox8b contains hundreds of 8-bit approximate adders and multipliers. By means of genetic programming we generated an extended version of the library in which thousands of 8- to 128-bit approximate arithmetic circuits are included. These circuits form Pareto fronts with respect to several error metrics, power consumption and other circuit parameters. In our case study we show how a large set of approximate multipliers can be used to perform a resilience analysis of a hardware accelerator of ResNet DNN and to select the most suitable approximate multiplier for a given application. Results are reported for various instances of the ResNet DNN trained on CIFAR-10 benchmark problem.
