A graph-theoretic approach for non-redundant gene marker selection from microarray gene expression data has been presented in this article. The sample versus gene data presented by microarray data is first converted into a weighted undirected complete feature-graph where the nodes represent the genes having gene's relevance as node weights and the edges are weighted according to the similarity value (correlation) among the genes. Then the densest subgraph having minimum average edge weight (similarity) and maximum average node weight (snr value) is identified from the original feature-graph. To find the densest subgraph, binary particle swarm optimization has been applied for minimizing the average edge weight and maximizing the average node weigh through a single objective function. Thus an optimized reduced subgraph is found which contains final selected genes for which average correlation is very less and average gene relevance is very high. The proposed method is compared with SFS, T-test and Ranksum test in terms of sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, fscore, Area Under ROC Curve (AUC) and average correlation on several real-life data sets.

Enhancement of low resolution images is always a priority Enhancement of low resolution images is always a priority field of digital image processing. In this paper, we propose a novel hybrid approach based on discrete wavelet transform (DWT) and particle swarm optimization (PSO). To develop the proposed method we use spatial domain as well as frequency domain. To reduce the low frequencies from the input image we use the frequency domain. DWT is used to decompose the input low resolution image into different sub bands. Each of the interpolated high frequency sub band (LH, HL, HH) is then summed up with the interpolated output image of the frequency domain. In order to achieve high resolution image, the estimated high frequency sub bands of the intermediate stage and the interpolated low resolution input image have been combined by using inverse DWT. To generate a better high resolution image particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique has been used. The quantitative (root mean square error, normalized cross correlation, normalized absolute error) and visual outcome show the strength of this proposed method.

With enormous growth in video applications, a huge amount of video data is being generated every day. The study, analysis and investigation of recent development would leads to acquire objective of future. The proposed work is inspired from the same issue in concern face detection in video. It would be the future demand for searching, browsing, and retrieving human face of interest from video database for several applications. The goal of proposed work is to systematically address the recent work of face detection in video through evaluation that permits a meaningful objective comparison of techniques, provides the research community with sufficient data for the exploration of automatic modeling techniques. The outcome of the paper which fulfilled the three objectives-i) study and classification of recent techniques ii) analyzed the status recent techniques with respect to results and performance Finally, iii) identification of most feasible and optimized technique along with discussion for betterment. Also, information about some video database provided. Mean while, objective evaluation would be extremely useful to the computer vision research community for years to come.

Avoidance of collision in wireless ad-hoc network is important and CSMA/CA MAC protocol is playing a major role to avoid collision. CSMA/CA MAC protocol handle it using sort RTS/CTS control message. Though reliability of data transmission increase, it blocks some nodes unnecessarily due to RTS and CTS control message and also makes existence of hidden-terminal (HT) problem which reduces the network performance. In wireless Ad-hoc network the nodes are mobile, infrastructure less and communicate through their radio range. If we can reduce the number of blockage nodes the network performance will increase by utilizing those nodes as other communication's source, destination or relay. In this paper, we propose two methods by which wireless ad-hoc network performance will increase. First we propose a method for enhancement of CSMA/CA MAC protocol by unblocking the nodes using directional antenna and setting up NAV values of RTS/CTS control message considering directional antenna and modified the CSMA/CA timing diagram accordingly. The second method shows how the hidden-terminal problem is reduced by the proposed method. The analytical model explains the performance of CSMA/CA protocol with reduction of HT problem.

Any physical Thing is a smart object, if it is embedded with sensor(s), actuator(s), a microcontroller and a low power radio. More often these components can be fabricated in chip, as small as the size of a human thumb finger. The main vision of “Web of Things” (WoTs) is to realize connectivity of the Web to billions of such smart objects. Applications can be built on top of standards like IPv6 over Low Power Wireless Personal Area Networks (6LoWPAN) at the L3 layer and IEEE 802.15.4 at the L2 layer of the network stack. Some of the popular applications include smart metering, building and home automation, healthcare, asset management, environmental monitoring and industrial automation. One of the main challenges for application developers is interoperability among the services provided by smart objects of disparate environments. This paper deals with interoperability at the application layer. We present an approach using the REST principles, for smart plant-watering application. The proposed approach can be adapted to any kind of applications involving smart objects. The paper also specifies an efficient syndication algorithm for event notifications from Things. We empirically show that our proposed approach achieves interoperability as well as performs efficiently.

It is seen that Weather Forecast Models (WFMs) are often implemented using the sequential programs. This usually takes longer execution time, larger computer resources and more power as WFMs involve high level computational tasks to process large amount of weather forecast data. These become problems for the weather forecast companies in terms of WFM performance. The companies have already tried to use the multi-core systems to overcome these, but it does not work always because of the poor selection and implementation of programming strategies. By addressing these problems, a research project has been conducted as a case study for the weather production company named Weather2 Ltd. The case study attempted multi-threaded programming based on the multi-core systems as a different implementation strategy for Weather2's WFM as solution to their problems in using sequential programs. The results of the case study showed that this new strategy could improve the performance of WFM significantly by reducing the execution time, using less computer resources and power. This paper presents the case study and its results.

With the development of high resolution images technique, large scale data intensive computing and computing-intensity is highly demanded. However, isolated storage and dispersive management cannot meet exponentially increasing demand for storage and management of crop images. On the basis of the crop images grasped by our independent developed agricultural intelligent search engine, a kind of extraction technique will be studied to extract the special feature behind scattered image data and to build up a cloud platform for the crop images information. Fast and accurate searching for crop images and its highly efficient management under cloud computation environment are achieved through map-reduce parallel mechanism.

Driven by the evolution of modern computer architectures from uni-processor to multi-core platforms, there is an increasing need to provide light-weight, efficient, and predictable support for fine-grained parallel and distributed execution of soft real-time tasks with end-to-end timing constraints, modeled as directed a cyclic graphs whose edges capture dependences among their subtasks. At the same time, there is a need to support state of the art programming models such as distributed components, whose ability to encapsulate functionality and allow context-specific optimizations is essential to manage the increasing complexity of modern distributed real-time and embedded systems and systems-of-systems. Real-time distributed middleware such as RT-CORBA has not kept pace with these developments, and a new generation of middleware is needed that can map these dependent subtask graphs onto distributed hosts with multi-core architectures, efficiently and within a simple, lightweight, and intuitive component programming model. To overcome these limitations, we have designed and implemented MC Flow, a novel distributed real-time component middleware for dependent subtask graphs running on multi-core platforms. MC Flow provides three new contributions to the state of the art in real-time component middleware: (1) a very lightweight component model that facilitates system integration and deployment through automatic code generation at compile time from a deployment plan specification, (2) transparent optimization of inter-component communication, and (3) the use of interface polymorphism to separate functional correctness from data copying and other performance constraints so that they can be configured and enforced independently but in a type-safe manner. Empirical evaluations of our approach in comparison to the widely used TAO real-time middleware show that MC Flow performs comparably to TAO when only one core is used and outperforms TAO when multiple cores are involved

As traditional network measurement systems store data in relational databases, the storage capacity and computing resource are limited, besides, the extendibility and elasticity are low. The centralized storage scheme will not meet the needs of big data analysis as the data is growing rapidly and continuously. In this paper, we adopt Hadoop and HBase--open source cloud computing Frameworks to store network measurement data of non-realtime and realtime applications. The distributed storage scheme is designed to meet the performance demands of storage capacity and computing resource for the mass data.

Software reuse increases the productivity and reduces the cost and improves the Quality of the software development. Reusability is one of the most important quality characteristic. Therefore it is necessary to measure the reusability of the module in order to realize the reuse of module effectively. By reuse the module of existing software has increased in past recent year which impact more on the software quality. Many measuring reusability methods have been propose for estimating the reusability of module. If any software system using the reusable component from existing System it save the lot of time for developing the software and also cost of the software development. It also increases the performance of the software and aim of the any software organization is giving the product with good quality and low cost as soon as possible. If we reuse the oldest module which is already develop in new system it increase the productivity because effort of the programmer is reduce and it correctness is also increase because exist system already tested. Problem is that which module or component is more suitable in oldest software for reuse. In this thesis we developing the tool which is calculating the reusability for the object oriented program and display existing module is acceptable for reuse or not.
