Global and Regional Assimilation and Prediction System (GRAPES) is a domestically developed numerical weather prediction system in China. The microphysical process is the key physical process of cloud formation and precipitation and is also one of the hot spots in the calculation of the whole model. Despite the parallel processing capabilities of MPI and OpenMP, the computation time of the microphysics process remains relatively long. In order to achieve finer-grained parallelization, the code is ported to Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) using a combination of memory coalescing and array scalarization methods. In addition, to address the issue of underutilization of GPU resources when multiple processes share a single GPU, the Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) Multi-Processing Service (MPS) is introduced in the microphysics module to improve GPU utilization. Experimental results show that for a resolution of 50km, excluding data transfer time, the speedup achieved by using 4 GPUs in conjunction with 36 CPU cores reaches 11.59, and the speedup excluding data transfer time is 18.59. It has been verified that the parallel computation of the microphysics process on GPUs is stable and correct. © 2025 SPIE.

In response to growing environmental concerns and the need for sustainable development, alternative energy systems have emerged as crucial solutions to the problems associated with fossil fuels. The Internet of Things (IoT) has swept the linked globe. Internet of Things devices are growing exponentially globally due to their great practicality. Securing such gadgets, however, has received surprisingly little attention. Network creators and administrators have no option but to install these devices with inadequate or non-existent security due to their many limitations. 2016, during the notorious Mirai botnet assault, saw similar devices being used to launch distributed denial-of-service attacks. For this reason, provide a simple authentication procedure for these devices. When developing our authentication system, we considered several factors, including portability, user and device registration, scalability, and more. The design was based on a three-tiered paradigm with devices at the cloud, fog, and edge levels. Additionally, suggested other post-quantum cryptography-based cypher suites for review and implementation. Additionally, provide a fail-safe approach to ensure deployed IoT devices may continue delivering services autonomously if an authenticating server fails. When ring learning with mistakes is used, our protocol performs quickly. Using a tool for automated assessment of Internet security protocols and submissions, we demonstrate that our authentication system is secure. Finally, for Internet of Things device authentication in a fog computing setting, provide a secure, hybrid, and speedy protocol. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

This paper deals with the implementation on the grid' 5000 network, the French grid platform, of parallel simulations for the solution of a 3D coupled boundary value problem of continuous flow electrophoresis which is governed by Navier Stokes equations coupled with convection-diffusion and potential equations. The coupled boundary value problems are discretized by appropriate schemes involving the convergence of the parallel synchronous and asynchronous Schwarz alternating algorithms. Finally, parallel experiments on grid computing are presented and analysed.

This paper presents Unagrid/Unacloud: an opportunistic grid and cloud computing infrastructure solution, which provides fundamental and customized computing resources on demand and at lower cost, to support academic and e-Science projects. The proposed solution is provided through the opportunistic use of idle computing resources available in a university campus. This paper describes the architectures defined, implementations, use cases and tests executed. The results generated evidence high efficiency in result generation, supporting projects that require the agile provision of large computational capabilities, including scientific and academic initiatives.

This paper shows how the complex simulation of the multi-scale phenomena in aero-acoustics can be solved on distributed parallel super computing facilities. It points out the importance of scalable behaviour in all parts of the simulation with respect to time and memory. Special emphasis is laid on memory usage, where a single peak anytime anywhere might result in the disability to run a simulation at all. Additionally, the parallel processing of connectivity creation for unstructured mesh information, a new file format is introduced, which allows for independent treatment of each element. With this preparatory work at hand, the concurrent simulation on multiple scales and different meshes is described.
