The problem is discussed that large grid fluctuation caused by distributed generation integration, pointing out that the microgrid power local consumption is a solution to this problem. However, power transaction volume of electricity in microgrid is not large, while management has not simplified, and labor cost is high. The introduction of power market can solve local consumption problem of microgrid. Using blockchain technology can simplify the management of microgrid power transactions and realize peer-to-peer power transaction. Microgrid dispatch centers can also be simplified. The purpose of this paper is to explore applications of blockchain technology related to electricity market on microgrid and to present a framework how blockchain is employed to facilitate peer-to-peer electricity sales in microgrid.

Mining drug targets from database is a problem of challenge but significance, which has received much attention from academia and industry. As a main source of drug targets, proteins have abundant sequence properties analyzed by the modern measuring techniques and those properties provide a new perspective for detecting the potential proteins as drug targets. In our research, two typical ensemble models, Bagging and AdaBoost of decision trees, were applied for predicting potential DTPs. To tackle the uncertainty of non-drug targets proteins, random sampling was used to construct the negative dataset. The experiments showed both of two ensemble models were insensitive to the feature selection and ratio of training dataset. The average of recall ratios for proteins as drug targets maintained a high level, over 90% in two models. In one turn of parallel experiments, Bagging and AdaBoost predicted 257 potential drug target proteins in common. All of these have confirmed the availability of sequence information and applicability of data mining techniques. The process of retrieving drug targets would be accelerated with the booming development of new data mining technics.

cloud computing is one of the key enablers for modern electric power dispatch systems, in which many assisted decision making applications are involved. This work focuses on one important decision making scenario, i.e., providing suggested actions for alarming signals from electric component in both transmission and distribution network. Knowledge base is set up to find template to characterize the alarming signal patterns. A real-time template matching scheme is then established to find out the best candidate to aware current fault situation. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is verified using realworld electric component alarming data. The results indicate that the workload of operator is significantly reduced and the assisted decision accuracy is improved.

Apache Hadoop is the famous open source cloud computing software in recent years, the performance is much better than before due to lots of researchers' efforts, but its performance still has chance to be improved further because of unsatisfied distributed computing speed and slow response time from heterogeneous Internet's uncertain and dynamic environment. In this paper, coupling emerging GPU computing with multi-path TCP (MPTCP) protocol is proposed for current Hadoop/MapReduce architecture to further improve the distributed computing performance. We use GPU computing to speed up the Map's process, and use MPTCP to reduce Reduce's data transfer time. The Hadoop benchmark applications such as Terasort, WordCount and PiEstimate are applied to demonstrate the improved performance of our proposed scheme. According to the preliminary experimental results, the proposed scheme can improve the Hadoop/MapReduce performance by coupling GPU computing and MPTCP multipath protocol with robustness and bandwidth aggregation, to reduce further the distributed computing latency.

cloud computing is a new commercial model with distributed computing, utility computing, and grid computing. In many situations, both the cloud service providers (CSPs) and cloud service users maximize their earnings. Consequently, how to resolve the resource allocation and determine the transaction pricing between CSPs and users is a big challenge. In this paper, we propose a double auction-based cloud resource allocation and pricing model, which improves the auction efficiency. In this model, the profit of the middle auctioneer is taken into consideration, and a reliability mechanism is added to the model. The price for the CSPs is designed based on the resource price and the reliability index. Finally, a resource allocation algorithm is proposed. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm reduces the number of auction rounds, and improves the auction efficiency very well.

In the context of load balancing [1], Lu et al. proposed a novel class of algorithms called Join-Idle-Queue(JIQ) for distributed load balancing in large systems, where a group of dispatchers distribute jobs to a cluster of parallel servers. Each dispatcher maintains a queue called Idle-Queue for idle servers. When a job arrives to a dispatcher at random, the dispatcher sends it to a server which in the head of the Idle-Queue, or to a random server if the Idle-Queue is empty. Meanwhile conversely,when a server has no jobs, it actively requests to be placed on an Idle-Queue. Although this algorithm was shown to be quite effective [2,3], it is defective in some respects. This paper presents several new improvements, which makes the algorithm more effective, especially in cloud-based Flow Security System(CFS). These improvements focus primarily on these aspects, such as the definition of idle server, data concurrency while choosing an Idle-Queue, etc. The experimental results show that the improved load balancing algorithm can improve the utilization of resources in a certain extent.

Wireless Sensor Networks are used to examine environmental conditions using a set of spatially distributed sensors. This is done by cooperatively exchanging data between nodes, until it reaches the Gateway node. One of the various applications of WSN is in monitoring soil parameters. Soil management can improve the yield by accurately monitoring the quality of soil according to the crop. Incorporating Wireless Sensor Network into the proposed Soil Quality Management System makes it possible to measure various qualities of soil like Electrical Conductivity, pH, temperature, NPK (Nitrogen Phosphate Potassium) content and light intensity. In the proposed system, a farmer can get real-time test results of significant soil parameters, which play a crucial role in increasing the yield. This system makes use of the hardware platforms, Arduino and Raspberry Pi which are open-source.

Building massively parallel numerical simulations is not easy due to lasting changes of parallel programming models and various software technologies needed. We develop a component based graphical parallel programming approach to lower the difficulties of coding applications in scientific and engineering computing and support rapid development of large scale simulations basing on a domain specific framework. parallel applications can be constructed simply by configuring components and assembling them in predefined flowcharts interactively. Large part of codes is auto generated from the graphical configuration for an application. The approach facilitates the rapid design and development of parallel numerical simulations by shielding many knowledge and technologies required from domain experts. Real applications demonstrate that the approach for developing complex numerical is both practical and efficient.
