ICT has become a crucial element in supporting energy management. It allows for design and implementation of smart grids. In this paper we present a distributed solution for improving the efficiency for electricity distribution and for more rational use of energy, minimizing overloads and voltage variations. It is implemented by a Virtual Market that has been built according to a distributed approach over a P2P server-less overlay. In our prototype, RetroShare is used to implement a F2F (Friend-To-Friend) network where intelligent agents can broker and negotiate energy autonomously on user's behalf according to high level policies are discussed.

cloud computing is a pattern of processing the big data and provides the convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources. cloud data center's cost is becoming the hot topic in recent years. This paper studies how to minimize the bandwidth cost for uploading deferral big data to a cloud computing platform, based on the MapReduce Framework. We study the deficiency of randomized online algorithm and Dynamic Self-adaption Algorithm, and we propose the improved algorithm to minimize the bandwidth cost based on DSA, and the results demonstrate that the IDSA' performance is better than the ROA and DSA.

cloud computing is a well known computing technology that deals with large capacity of information or data using highly available geographically distributed resources that can be accessed by user via internet in terms of pay per use basis. In such a way, tasks should be scheduled efficiently such that user specified QoS constraints are satisfied. Task scheduling, which is NP-complete problem, plays an important role in cloud computing. In this research work, Big Bang-Big Crunch (BB-BC) technique is used for scheduling of independent tasks in the cloud environment aiming to reduce makespan. The performance of the proposed approach is evaluated by comparing it against GA using cloudSim tool. Experimental results show that the BB-BC approach outperforms GA approach in terms of makespan.

cloud computing is one of the most popular techniques in distributed computing which will increase scalability and flexibility in computer processing due to its ability to minimize the cost of time calculations. cloud computing provides resources and shared services through the internet. Services will be delivered through the data center. cloud computing provides an interesting business proposal for information technology industry, which without any additional investment, customers are able to do heavy processing by devices such as a mobile phone that has the resources including the web browser to run. On the other hand, cloud computing has been subject to many security issues. When a client delivers his data to a cloud provider for saving, there is the possibility of data loss. From the perspective of customers, cloud computing security concerns are still in place, in particular issues related to data security and privacy protection. In this paper, the challenges and security issues in cloud computing are investigated from two perspectives being data security and privacy protection.

The management of huge amounts of data distributed across multiple sites has become a necessity more and more demanding. Peer-to-peer systems (P2P) can afford the requirements of managing, indexing, searching and analyzing data with scalability and self-organization. Until now, most efforts have focused primarily on improving the number of hops and structure maintenance messages. However, the non-uniform distribution of data and the hierarchical structures, together with heavy load, can cause unbalanced traffic load. In this paper we improve our previous work on the overlay structure G-grid, merging it with a Small World network. The Small World networks make a compromise between order and randomness, they are derived from social networks and show an almost uniform traffic distribution. Experiments show how this new hybrid structure obtains the best performance in traffic distribution.

COLOR (client-oriented layered optimistic replication) is a combination of optimistic and conservative data replication that allows cloud services to be replicated across widely distributed locations without suffering from the latency overhead of strict algorithms, and with quantifiable and controllable tradeoffs between performance and consistency guarantees. The COLOR solution adopts a layered approach to enable optimistic delivery of client messages on top of any existing storage layer that manages the strict replication of the cloud service. When clients may be temporarily exposed to inconsistent states due to replication failures, such inconsistency is made recoverable similar to "optimistic concurrency control" for clients that cache the server state. COLOR supports different numeric parameters to trade the strict consistency for better performance to possibly match Eventual Consistency, while the end-to-end consistency is always guaranteed as the storage layer will never deliver any client messages generated from inconsistent states.

Computational grid, which came into existence in mid 1990s, represents a computing infrastructure, which is distributed in nature. grid, these days, is extensively used in science and technology. As a result, computational grid has become a promising research field. It has become a highly productive platform for dynamic problem solving. grid provides resource sharing among different organizations. Due to the provision of scalable resources, these days grid's usage is rapidly increasing in industry also. But, computational grid has few distinct requirements in comparison to those of traditional distributed high performance computing systems. To utilize such grid systems, resource allocation and utilization are key challenges to be dealt with. Henceforth load balancing is another common problem as because the load scenarios of individual resources are dynamic in nature. The objective of this paper is to enhance the efficiency of an already proposed ndFS algorithm to solve the existing problem of load balancing in computational grid. Comparisons of the performances of a few existing load balancing algorithms with proposed ndFS are also presented in this paper.

Nowadays, cloud computing is the first choice of every IT organization because of its scalable and flexible nature. However, the security and privacy is a major concern in its success because of its open and distributed architecture that is open for intruders. Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is the most commonly used mechanism to detect various attacks on cloud. This paper shares an overview of different intrusions in cloud. Then, we analyze some existing cloud based intrusion detection systems with respect to their various types, positioning, detection time, detection techniques, data source and attacks. The analysis also provides limitations of each technique to determine whether they fulfill the security needs of cloud computing environment or not. We highlight the deployment of IDS that uses multiple detection methods to manage with security challenges in cloud.

cloud computing is internet based computing paradigm that opens new opportunities for researchers to investigate its benefits and disadvantages on executing scientific applications such as workflows. Workflow scheduling on distributed systems has been widely studied over the years. Most of the proposed scheduling algorithms attempt to minimize the execution time without considering the cost of accessing resources and mostly target environments similar or equal to community grids. But, in case of cloud computing, usually, faster resources are more expensive than the slower one such that execution time as well as cost incurred by using a set of heterogeneous resources over cloud should be minimized. The proposed approach in this paper is based on Imperialist Competitive Algorithm (ICA). The ICA is a new evolutionary algorithm which is inspired by human's socio-political evolution. Generally this algorithm mathematically models the imperialism as a level of human's social evolution and uses this model for optimization Problems. In this paper, we develop a static cost-minimization, deadlineconstrained heuristic for scheduling a scientific workflow application in a cloud environment. Our approach considers fundamental features of IaaS providers such as on-demand resource provisioning and unlimited computing resources. The results show that our approach performs better than the PSO algorithm in terms of cost minimization and percent of meeting deadline.

Model-based Systems engineering plays a pivotal role in the design of distributed embedded systems by enabling early virtual integration of the different parts of the system. Traditionally, the system model is composed of subsystem models at the same level of abstraction and with one particular view. However, in some cases the system model may comprise sub-system models at different levels of abstraction. Integration of these different abstraction level models imposes some important drawbacks which hinder the overall system simulations. These drawbacks need to be addressed to facilitate the simulation of systems composed with multi-level subsystem models. In this paper we report on modelling techniques for embedded and distributed systems to deal with this heterogeneity. We describe a methodology to (semi-)automatically generate an executable multi-level system simulation model starting from an abstract system architecture of the system. A platooning system example is used to demonstrate the new modelling techniques.
