distributed coordination is critical for a multi-robot system in collective cleanup task under a dynamic environment. In traditional methods, robots easily drop into premature convergence. In this paper, we propose a swarm intelligence based algorithm to reduce the expectation time for searching targets and removing. We modify the traditional PSO algorithm with a random factor to tackle premature convergence problem, and it can achieve a significant improvement in multi-robot system. The proposed method has been implemented on self-developed simulator for searching task. The simulation results demonstrate the feasibility, robustness, and scalability of our proposed method than previous methods.

Data storage is an important application of cloud computing, where clients can remotely store their data into the cloud. By uploading their data into the cloud, clients can be relieved from the burden of local data storage and maintenance. This new paradigm of data storage service also introduces new security challenges. One of these risks that can attack the cloud computing is the integrity of the data stored in the cloud. In order to overcome the threat of integrity of data, the client must be able to use the assistance of a Third Party Auditor (TPA), in such a way that the TPA verifies the integrity of data stored in cloud with the client's public key on the behalf of the client. The existing schemes with single verifier (TPA) may not scale well for this purpose. In this paper, we propose An Efficient distributed Verification Protocol (EDVP) to verify the integrity of data in a distributed manner with support of multiple verifiers (Multiple TPAs) instead of single Verifier (TPA). Through the extensive security, performance and experimental results, we show that our scheme is more efficient than single verifier based scheme.

The competitiveness of the aviation maintenance companies is strictly connected to the security, the quality, the efficiency, the costs and the speed of the maintenance processes. This entails a critical role for the planning of maintenance activities. A specific resource allocation problem for aeronautical maintenance activities is described and a combination of a dynamic programming strategy and an agent-oriented approach for the planning of these activities is proposed. Since the dynamic programming algorithm presented is inherently parallelizable then a multi-agent strategy that allows distributed computing is *** A coordination mechanism guarantees the actions of multiple agents lead to a global solution. Agent-based methods inherently overcome the limitations of centralized load-balancing and they can adaptively execute on dynamic networks of workstations.

Crawling web applications is important for indexing, accessibility and security assessment. Crawling traditional web applications is an old problem, as old as the web itself. Crawling Rich Internet Applications (RIA) quickly and efficiently, however, is an open problem. Technologies such as AJAX and partial Document Object Model (DOM) updates only makes the problem of crawling RIA more time consuming to the web crawler. To reduce the time to crawl a RIA, this paper presents a new distributed algorithm to crawl a RIA in parallel with multiple computers, called Dist-RIA Crawler. Dist-RIA Crawler uses the JavaScript events in the DOM structure to partition the search space. This paper illustrates a prototype implementation of Dist-RIA Crawler and inspect empirical performance measurements.

The number of stream-based information sources is increasing, so query processing on streams is getting more important. Window-join is one of typical operations for stream data processing. It uses sliding-windows to keep recent input tuples, and generate the join result from the tuples in the window. To reduce processing cost of window-join, some parallel window-join algorithms have been proposed in the context of distributed environments. Their main objectives are increasing throughput. They do not concern about reducing processing delay, because delay caused network transfer is unavoidable in distributed environments. In our research, we focus on reducing processing delay of window-join by using multi-core environments instead of distributed environments. We propose and evaluate two parallel window-join algorithms for multiple input streams. The first one is parallel Tree-based Join, which makes multiple cores execute multiple join trees with different join orders. Each join tree is optimized to minimize processing delay for tuples from one stream. Another is parallel MJoin, which is an extension of existing MJoin algorithm. parallel MJoin concurrently performs multiple probe processes instead of sequential probe used in original MJoin. This paper also includes experimental evaluation to investigate efficiency of two methods.

Decision support is the main objective of business intelligence. The facts and rules of knowledge bases at the back end of decision support systems represent beliefs that are subject to revision. Belief revision is called for whenever an inconsistency occurs. Inconsistency may be due to an update that contradicts extant beliefs, or may have remained hidden before being uncovered. In particular, inconsistency is likely to appear in decision support systems based on distributed, mutually independent knowledge sources. If consistency is modeled by business rules, in the form of integrity constraints, then inconsistency can be measured, by sizing either the violated instances of constraints or the beliefs that cause constraint violations. Measures that quantify inconsistency enable a distinction of different degrees of integrity violations, and thus a relaxation of the intolerant all-or-nothing attitude of classical logic toward consistency. They also provide a logical foundation and justification of maintaining and reasoning with beliefs that possibly are inconsistent, without risking to lead to decisions that suffer too much from contradictory sources.

The cloud resources can be efficiently utilized using different parallelization methods and techniques. However, most of them depend on the operating system and its runtime environment. In this paper we perform series of experiments to analyze the performance of dense matrix-matrix multiplication algorithm on the same hardware infrastructure using parallel threads on different platforms in Windows Azure, i.e., different operating systems and runtime environments. Contrary to the hypothesis that Linux platform provides better performance, the results of the experiments show that Windows platform runs up to 3.01 times better, especially for problem size that can be placed in last level cache and will not generate a lot of cache misses. We also determine the regions where a particular operating system is a better solution if cost or performance are considered.

Scientific cloud computing(SCC) applies the advantages of clouds to computational science. We present the SC2IT Scientific cloud computing tools that abstract complex computational workflows and allow state-of-the-art scientific high-performance computing software to be distributed in a user-friendly manner. We present Linux and Java "SC2IT" toolsets to manage virtual cloud clusters and implement scientific workflows. We demonstrate several GUIs that implement the "SC2IT" interface for materials science applications. In particular, the Cluster Manager is a generalpurpose SCC GUI to which new workflows can be added easily.

Coping with uncertainty is a challenging and complex problem particularly in hybrid cloud environments-private cloud plus public cloud. Conflicting goals of minimizing the cost and performance, unknown prior knowledge about task running times, and a lack of estimation tools are just a few of the challenges that resource management systems in those environments encounter. The aim in this paper is to find Pareto-optimal schedules for large-scale Bag-of-Tasks (BoT) applications that meet user defined constraints, such as deadline or budget or some tradeoff between them. BoT applications are common in science and engineering and consist of many independent tasks. To achieve the user's chosen Pareto-optimal schedule, we develop a dynamic resource allocation process for hybrid clouds. We also present a hybrid approach to estimating task running times that incorporates several estimators with a feedback control system to cope with the inherent uncertainty in such estimation. Through extensive experiments on a test bed hybrid cloud, using Amazon EC2 as a public cloud, we show that the proposed approach can achieve near optimality with little overhead, and consistently achieves a solution within 2% of the user's chosen Pareto-optimal schedule. Further, we demonstrate that our approach performs better than an extended List scheduling approach by reducing both the total cost and time needed to run the application by almost 20% and 5% on average, respectively.

Trust Models are used to enhance secure and reliable scheduling in distributed, grid and cloud environment. Trust models that are being proposed or implemented in distributed and grid environment, does not fully fit in cloud computing environment. Since the parameters that have being taken into consideration in these trust models, does not fit in the cloud Infrastructure As A Service, a suitable trust model is proposed based on the existing model that is suitable for trust value management for the cloud IaaS parameters. Based on the above achieved trust values, a scheduling is done for better allocation of resources and further enhance the QOS of services been provided to the users. In this paper, an approach for managing trust in cloud IaaS is proposed.
