In this paper the description of FlexEye - a visual sensor mote suitable of functioning as super node in the static wireless sensornetworks is provided. With mobility features added on to FlexEye, the platform can be used as high performance mobile node in mobile wireless sensornetworks or as a node in swarm robotics. A comparison of FlexEye with existing camera platforms developed for sensornetworks is made on parameters like processing capabilities, power consumption, cost, time to prototype, support for future expansion, etc. The paper elaborates on the custom off the shelf hardware components used in design and the resource pipelined image acquisition technique implemented on the FlexEye mote for acquiring the high resolution images in real time using minimalistic resources. The paper also provides quantitative details on the achieved frame rates and power consumption details of the FlexEye platform.

Multievent wireless sensornetworks (WSN) require different levels of reliability and latency based on event types. Besides that, energy efficient consumption is one of the crucial requirements for most WSNs because sensors have limited power andprocessing capability. Most of researches in this area have dealt with one or two of the requirements. This paper proposes a novel solution combining of energy aware, event driven routing protocol, and dynamic delivering scheme to support the requirements for multievent WSN. Simulation results show that, the proposed solution reduces packet loss rate for high reliability requirement events and extends the network lifetime of multievent WSN. Moreover, in case of high traffic conditions, sharing load across multiple paths would reduce latency for the urgent events in the multiple events network.

One of the main challenges in the wireless sensornetworks (WSN) is to enhance the network lifetime. The uneven energy depletion phenomenon of the sensor nodes (known as Hotspot issue) gets more prominent with the increase in number of sensor nodes. These sensor nodes disperse their energy quickly and finally die down. Their battery replacement is not practically possible in the operating environments. Various methods have been put in use to prolong the network lifetime, among which EASR (Energy Aware Sink Relocation) is being considered to be the most efficient one. This paper brings out an overview of these various methods and suggests a modification to the EASR method aimed at increasing its efficiency by way of decreasing the energy consumption of sensor nodes as well as achieving a highly secured communication among sensor nodes using Elliptical Curve Cryptography. Based on the established principle that energy consumption is inversely proportional to the distance between an individual sensor node and sink node, we have suggested a technique of alternate shortest path between the individual sensor nodes that improves energy efficiency as well as the lifetime of overall network system. The present write-up entails some numerical and theoretical calculations that amply substantiate the fact that the idea is practicable.
