Compression of the Wireless sensor Network (WSN) images are always challenging, as we need to maintain the quality of the reconstructed images with restricted resources and the bandwidth of transmission is also less. To meet these diverging requirements Compressive sensing is one of the best among all solutions. In this paper, we have compared the performance of two popular reconstruction methods for compressive sensing namely Orthogonal Matching Pursuits and L1-minimization found in the literature. The performances of these two methods are compared for standard dataset images as well as real wildlife CCTV captured color images. Result analysis shows that OMP method has faster processing with lower stability and L1 method has slower processing with higher stability. © 2021 IEEE.

Multicast Communication plays an important role in most of the resource constrained networking environments such as Wireless sensor networks (WSN), Internet of Things (IOT). Communication in WSN is restricted by energy, computation and memory capabilities of sensor nodes. Designing an efficient routing algorithm to achieve communication between Stationary Base station (BS) and a cluster of sensor nodes in a specific region requires the base station to send individual messages to all sensor nodes. This approach consumes a large amount of energy and bandwidth. A variety of algorithms exist to address this issue by dividing the sensor nodes into clusters. Each cluster is monitored by a Cluster Head (CH), responsible for gathering and aggregating data to send the same to the BS. In this paper, we reviewed existing clustering techniques and propose an unequal clustering based scheme. This allows the BS to communicate a multicast message to cluster members as well as a cluster head to communicate with other cluster members. The results show that our approach improves network lifetime.

Image signals which acquired by wireless visual sensor network can be used for specific event capture. This event capture is realized by image processing at the sink node. A distributed compressive sensing scheme is used for the transmission of these image signals from the camera nodes to the sink node. A measurement and joint reconstruction algorithm for these image signals are proposed in this paper. Make advantage of spatial correlation between images within a sensing area, the cluster head node which as the image decoder can accurately co-reconstruct these image signals. The subjective visual quality and the reconstruction error rate are used for the evaluation of reconstructed image quality. Simulation results show that the joint reconstruction algorithm achieves higher image quality at the same image compressive rate than the independent reconstruction algorithm.

In wireless sensor networks (WSNs), node localization issue from pairwise Euclidean distance measurements has become a fundamental research topic. In this paper, we investigate the issue of improving noisy sensor positions using accurate connected inter-sensor range measurements. Different from the previous researchers proposed an efficient algorithm for the case of fully connected, a semidefinite programming (SDP) method is derived to relax the nonconvex maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) problem into convex problem. To be specific, a semidefinite programming method for improving noisy sensor positions using accurate inter-sensor range measurements is proposed and it can be applied to both fully and partially connected case simultaneously. Finally, numerical simulations are conducted to demonstrate the performance of the proposed algorithm by comparing with the Cramer-Rao lower bound (CRLB), which illustrates the effects of the proposed algorithm.

The objective of the paper is to extract and identify the actual spectrum of the ball mill under dynamic conditions using the proposed Synchronized Frequency Estimation method (SFE). Impact statistics in ball mills are nested with complex dynamics, and the identification of the intensity of vibration lack behind the presence of impact dead zone in reference to the data acquisition and its analysis. The selection sample length can change the behavioral pattern for different impact loading cases i.e. the generation of mills natural frequency purely depends on the strength of the impulse excitation strength and the functional characteristics. The unevenness in the impulsive impact dynamics may depict the actual frequency as faux frequency. The improper sample length selection can alter the behavioral pattern for different impact loading. This paper broadly discusses the outcome of the random selection of data sample length and the disciplinary steps in extracting the actual spectrum.

Wireless sensor Network is a network of tiny senor nodes which are connected to base station (BS) in multi-hop fashion. Every sensor node has both computing and communication capabilities. These nodes are battery powered nodes. Mostly WSNs are set-up in unattended environment where recharging or replacing the batteries of sensor nodes is difficult. Hence, power conserving routing mechanisms are essential for WSNs. Clustering is one of the approach for saving the battery power and increasing the network lifetime. But selecting the cluster heads such that they can cover the whole network area and minimizes the energy loss during communication between the sensor node to the BS, is still a challenge. This article, proposes an Energy Efficient Semi Grid-Based Clustering Scheme (EESGBC) for Heterogeneous Wireless sensor networks, which increases energy efficiency of the network through balanced clustering. In EESGBC, the cluster Heads selection and cluster creation is done by base station. It divides the whole area into various blocks and from every block, cluster heads are being selected depending upon the number of alive nodes present in that block. This method covers most of the network area and reduces the early death of cluster heads and increases the overall network lifetime. The performance of EESGBC is evaluated though simulation and it was observed that proposed protocol performed better than existing algorithms for battery power and network lifetime.

Wireless sensor networks has been a thrust area of research in recent years. Among the various topics in wireless sensor networks, data collection has been an important area of research. Many wireless sensor networks generally depend on some collection oriented service to route data packets from source to the sink. Various protocols have been devised regarding data collection in wireless sensor networks among which the collection tree protocol is an important one. TinyOS is an operating system specifically designed for wireless sensor networks. Since sensor networks are constrained in power consumption point of view, this operating system provides an excellent platform for development of various applications in wireless sensor networks keeping in mind the limitations of the sensor devices. sensor networks are sometimes set up in remote locations and testing of applications in those environments becomes troublesome. Thus to facilitate the entire evaluation of the protocol a simulation of the network can be done. This paper deals with the TOSSIM (TinyOS Simulator) based approach towards simulation of collection tree protocol in wireless sensor networks and the analysis of the performance of the protocol considering various scenarios. TOSSIM or TinyOS Simulator is a well known simulator that can be used to simulate an entire TinyOS application. This paper also carries out an analysis that will provide a glimpse regarding the performance of collection tree protocol and at the same time will give an insight on how TOSSIM can be used as a simulation platform for implementation of collection tree protocol.

For efficient maintenance of critical industrial asset one requires an estimate of the current condition as well as an estimate of the remaining useful life. One can hence guarantee timely fault accommodation and avoid unanticipated breakdowns and equipment failures. The paper presents a concept of a system for on-line diagnostics and prognostics of asset condition whose aim is to make implementation easier, cost effective and highly portable. The system builds on a distributed sensor network performing signal acquisition, local signal processing and fusion of the diagnostic results on a central server. Hence the state of health as well as the estimate of the remaining useful life can be generated online. Key to the concept is optimal data storage and data manipulation framework with built-in condition monitoring taxonomy. To address all these issues the potential of the MIMOSA OSA-EAI standard are exploited. Due to its thoroughness MIMOSA OSA-EAI is unjustly deemed cumbersome and is either avoided or neglected. To bring it closer to the practitioners its main features are carefully addressed. The implementation of a platform prototype on a large milling machine is described.

On-line residual stress assessment in turning of Inconel 718 was carried out through multiple sensor monitoring based on cutting force, acoustic emission and vibration signals acquisition and analysis. The detected sensor signals were processed by the wavelet packet transform technique to extract statistical features from the packet coefficients for the construction of wavelet feature vectors. The latter were used for sensor fusion pattern recognition through neural network data processing grounded on X-ray diffraction residual stress measurements on the turned part surface. The scope of the sensory data fusion approach was to achieve a robust scheme for multi-sensor monitoring decision making on machined surface integrity in terms of residual stress level acceptability. Digital Image Encryption is the image processing in the field of a new branch. This paper discusses the modern cryptography, and RSA algorithms. Root According to the data features of digital image itself, designed and implemented digital image based on RSA encryption algorithm, and made further studies of the head. The wireless sensor networks, which self-organized, are data-centered. The current urgent problem with which the wireless faced is how to protect the security of the sensor data effectively. To deal with the weakness of limitation in sensor node resources and the security threats, a novel secure transmission strategy based on information hiding for sensor data security is proposed. In ordering to protect the security of the data, we obtain the sensitive information safely to make use of the advantage of information hiding technique without encryption to safeguard the data security. The simulation experiments illustrate that it is workable to utilize the existing WSN to transmit the sensitive information covertly with the characteristics of lower energy costs and invisibility, and it is suitable for stream data in sensor nodes. © 2010 IEEE.
