The increase in the Distributed Denial of Service attack (DDoS) leads to a significant threat to the network security. Inability to timely and accurately detect DDoS attacks disrupts services offered by companies and the government causing financial losses. Additionally, prolonged DDoS attacks can spoil user experience and degrade company reputation. The recent literature reveals various techniques for detecting DDoS attacks, including pre-trained machine learning and deep learning algorithms. This research paper addresses this challenge by tweaking random forest algorithms for maximum accuracy using CICDDoS2019 dataset. The methodology includes collecting of dataset, data processing, feature scaling and training multiple machine learning algorithms to identify maximum accuracy for detecting DDoS attacks. The result shows improvement of accuracy and precision of machine learning models used. Future work may include training the model for other types of attacks, real time implementation of the model developed, developing a hybrid approach for detection and protection from DDoS attack.

The proliferation of deepfakes-also termed artificial intelligence-generated synthetic media poses unprecedented challenges to the digital authenticity of media, for media integrity, and to societies’ trust in its credibility. Despite such significant technological advancements, current methodologies for detecting deepfakes remain somewhat fragmented, reactive, and often unable to keep pace with rapidly evolving technologies in generative AI. This article considers a comprehensive multi-modal approach toward deepfake detection by integrating an advanced machine learning algorithm, novel statistical correlation techniques, and forensic image analysis that would fill in the critical gaps in the existing frameworks. By using an extensive dataset of 10,000 synthetic and authentic media samples from diverse domains, we developed a hybrid neural network architecture that attained 94.3% accuracy on identifying AI-generated content. Our methodology utilized ensemble learning by combining spatial-temporal inconsistency detection, biological signal analysis, and advanced feature extraction algorithms. Key findings demonstrate significant vulnerabilities in current deepfake generation models, with our proposed technique successfully identifying subtle artifacts and inconsistencies across multiple generative AI platforms. This research conclusively demonstrates that proactive, adaptive detection strategies are critical to mitigating the potential risks associated with synthetic media, providing a robust framework for future technological interventions in digital forensics and media authentication.

Several researchers have paid attention on locating coordinates of sensors due to its importance for many applications in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). Usually WSNs consist of a number of small, limited energy and low processing capabilities sensors. These sensors can communicate with each other to carry out a specific task according to the application they have been designed for. Using GPS embedded with each sensor may be expensive in terms of cost and consumed energy. So the attention is focused toward designing localization algorithms without using more GPSs. In this paper, machine-learning approach has been proposed to estimate the position of each unknown node in WSNs. It is based on signal strength and positions of three anchors (sensors know their positions). K-Nearest Neighbours KNN and Neural Network (perceptron back propagation) are used in the proposed model to estimate the coordinates of unknown sensors based on data collected from simulation. The main idea of this paper is motivated by a hypothesis which assumes that the position of sensor has a strong correlation with the signal intensity of other nearby sensors. The results emphasise a good accuracy obtained using the model comparing with some related works. Indeed, the average of difference in distances between the actual locations and the estimated locations of the sensor nodes is about 0.84 m. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

CEPST algorithm is an important step in image processing, which is widely used in computer vision, pattern recognition, and machine learning. In order to improve the efficiency and performance of CEPST algorithm, more and more studies have implemented the task of CEPST algorithm on FPGA boards in recent years. FPGA boards offer parallel computing capabilities, low power consumption, and low latency, making them suitable for high-performance computing and real-time applications. In this paper, the Vivado tool is used to implement the method of CEPST algorithm. Vivado has a complete toolchain and debugging environment, supports a variety of hardware description languages, and provides a rich set of IP cores and acceleration libraries to facilitate FPGA design and development. This paper details the steps of CEPST algorithm using Vivado, from algorithm design to simulation. The CEPST algorithm was designed to improve the accuracy and speed, and further improve the performance of the overall system. © The Authors.

In this paper, a predictive maintenance strategy is developed to enhance the fault identification of induction machines using the analysis of residual mechanical vibrations. Induction machines are the most widely adopted machines in many industrial environments, owing to their high robustness, simplicity and economic efficiency. Nevertheless, these machines are susceptible to both electrical and mechanical failures, including stator phase deficiencies, which may result in significant downtime and expensive maintenance charges. The approach developed is designed by combining FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) and vibration signal analysis to detect faults at an early stage. The methodology has been validated by simulations performed with COMSOL Multiphysics. The results reveal a significant improvement over traditional maintenance methods based solely on vibration analysis in the early detection of failures, resulting in reduced downtime and lower maintenance costs.

This paper proposes an early faults diagnosis method for bearings based on Variational Mode Decomposition (VMD) and Entropy Theory to monitor the working state of the key components of the high-speed train axle box. Firstly, the box vibration signal is decomposed into detailed signals at different scales by using VMD (Band-Limited Intrinsic Mode Function, BIMF), then the three kinds of entropy are extracted from BIMF and composed into VMD entropy. Finally, the VMD entropy has been input into SVM for training to determine the fault type. This paper is going to take research on the vibration signals of high-speed train axle box under three typical working conditions of normal bearing, cage failure and roller failure. It is concluded that the best VMD parameters of fault identification for high-speed train axle box can effectively improve the recognition rate of entropy in early bearing fault diagnosis by comparing it with EMD entropy. The analysis results show that for a high-speed train running under 200 km/h, the recognition rates under three different working conditions can reach 98.75%. 100%. 98.75% respectively, which proved the validity of VMD entropy for early bearing fault identification of high-speed train.

We describe a method to learn the flight dynamics of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). This follows the recent trend to adopt a learning approach to Visual Odometry (VO). Our novelty is the inclusion of a module to compensate for the roll pitch angular motion of the UAV due to body vibration. This is a significant deviation from most existing works that are applied to land vehicles. We empirically verify our results on real flight data, showing that after compensating for angular vibration, the ego-motion of the UAV can be robustly estimated even by using simple regression tools. This enables the advantages of learning based VO to be within reach of the UAV community.

In this paper, we test the different classifiers used in machine learning and compare the different accuracies for the doodles which are obtained from Google's Quick Draw Dataset. The classifier with the best accuracy can be fed into an application for the hearing and speech impaired people through which the can be trained to draw their immediate needs, and the machine learning model could classify it into the correct category, so it would be easy for the people nearby to help them. © 2019 IEEE.

Text to image transformation for input to neural networks requires intermediate steps. This paper attempts to present a new approach to pixel normalization so as to convert textual data into image, suitable as input for neural networks. This method can be further improved by its Graphics processing Unit (GPU) implementation to provide significant speedup in computational time.
