Speech information is a large part of the Internet data type, which represents many valuable resources in the real world. However, extracting topics of speech is much challenging because there is not only a requirement for an analyzation of multi-level speech data, but also a requirement for valid methods for filtering and displaying extraction results. Meanwhile, the time consumption is also an important factor. Our work provides a visualization system for analyzation and extraction of speech. By means of case studies of real-world speech data, the practicability and effectiveness of the method are demonstrated. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2019.

The progress of modern science and technology has accelerated the development of communication, providing more focus on the security of data transmission. Although there are many recognized encryption techniques, more high-performance algorithms are required to withstand the sophisticated analysis and cracking techniques. In this paper, we propose an innovative algorithm that combines with Core Adaptive Fourier Decomposition (Core-AFD) for text encryption. In addition, two versions of algorithm, initial version and enhanced version, are discussed for different forms and strength of the secret key and ciphertext. Due to the one-to-one correspondence between the decomposition and the error terms, the encryption algorithm is theoretically feasible and safe. The algorithm is further demonstrated by conducting experiments on text encryption with different lengths. The results are promising. Finally, the time complexity of cracking our algorithm in different cases is given. © 2019 ACM.

Automatic building detection from remote sensing images plays an important role in a wide range of applications. In this paper, we apply improved U-NET and HF-FCN as main models to detect small building which is more difficult than big building. MUL-Pan Sharpen and PAN data used as the training data. Improved U-NET and HF-FCN were selected as main models. In order to detect small building, we oversample small building areas and under sample large building areas. We adapt morphological methods to dilate and erode output of the mod-el. With the optimization of model’s outputs, we can fill in the disconnected area, but also eliminates part of the false detection noise. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2019.

Periodic and accurate assessments of the water resources changes of artificial reservoirs are important for water resource management. Danjiangkou Reservoir (DJKR) is the largest artificial freshwater lake in Asia and is the freshwater source for Middle Route of South-to-North Water Diversion Project (MRSNWDP) in China. Remote sensing images of long time-series Landsat sensors and in situ observed storage data from 1993 to 2014 were used to monitor water resource variations of the DJKR. The results show significant monthly surface water area changes of the DJKR. Precipitation variations in the upper Hanjiang River Basin and reservoir operation missions are primarily responsible for these changes. In addition, the relationship between surface water area and reservoir storage of the DJKR can be described as a cubic polynomial model. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2019.

Since the measurement error of surveillance sensors such as radar differs each other in the detection of the same target, it's necessary to fuse the multi-source radar data to estimate the true location of target and reduce the measurement error of radar. The key is to establish nonlinear regression model since the uncertainty of measurement error. In this paper, the Support Vector Regression(SVR) methodology was adopted to estimate the true location of target based upon the measurement results of multi-source radar. We uniquely identify a region by a sequence of radar id which means a target can be detected in this area by radars with id listed in the sequence. Different regression model was established in different region which are independent of each other. Since the coordinate system used by radar data and ADSB data is different, we mapped all the data into the same twodimensional Cartesian coordinate system. In the same region, two regression models were established to estimate the values of aircraft on the x-axis and the y-axis. After we predict the x and y coordinates of the target, we convert the coordinates back to the WGS84 format. © 2019 Association for computing Machinery.

Similarity of images are measured according to their semantic contents, for instance, the searching for an image is based on its visual characteristics as well as other contents. The retrieval methods which are based only on keywords or metadata for the multimedia in fact cannot assure that the end user will get desired result. In text-based retrieval, the multimedia object’s features are defined and searched in keywords. In the case of bio-mage, for example, protein structures, the information is not of textual nature and requires structural or sequential comparison of atoms present in the images, and hence presents new challenges in the designing of algorithms for handling these data. Currently available tools for searching similar protein structure face the drawback of online structure/sequence similarity check which is very time-consuming. In the present manuscript, a pivot-based efficient index algorithm has been presented which enables fast retrieval of similar protein structures. The proposed algorithm is implemented on a database created on Protein data Bank files. The similarity on protein structures is calculated by computing pivots on structural similarity and sequential similarity. Finally, the query is performed on pivot created on combined features. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2019.

Crime is a critical issue that has gained significant attention in many countries including Malaysia. The Malaysian government has invested in a system known as the Geographical Information System (GIS) to map the crime hotspots in high prospect zones. However, the occurrences of violent crimes continue to increase at an alarming rate despite the implementation of the system. In order to combat crimes in a more effective manner in recent years, crime mapping has been proposed to identify crime hotspots in the country. This study applies crime mapping to identify crime hotspots in Malaysia. data on crime for 14 states in Malaysia from 2007–2016 were obtained, with permission, from the Royal Malaysia Police or known as Police DiRaja Malaysia (PDRM) in Bahasa Malaysia. data visualization was carried out using Tableau to gain more insights on the patterns and behaviours from violent crime data. The results show that Selangor has the highest number of violent crimes, followed by Kuala Lumpur and Johor. Perlis has the lowest number of violent crimes. Gang robbery is the highest in all 14 states. Interestingly, violent crimes being the highest in Selangor which also has the highest youth population. There is also a strong significant positive correlation between number of violent crime and youth population. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2019.

In this paper, through the evaluation of the energy consumption data of green buildings, the aim is to reduce people’s behavior of wasting energy and enhance people’s awareness of energy conservation. The dissertation first uses the isolated forest algorithm to perform abnormal monitoring and analysis on the energy consumption data, and uses the average value interpolation method to do the interpolation processing.
