The deployment of scientific computing software in a high-performance computing environment is very complicated and often requires many dependent libraries. How to quickly build a scientific computing environment is very important. Containers provide a flexible way to deploy software due to their lightweight and easy portability. Taking the deployment of material simulation software VASP as an example, this paper proposes a standardized process for building HPC containerized applications. Use Docker and Singularity container technology to realize containerized packaging of applications, solve complex application deployment, and realize the goal of "manufacture once, run anywhere". Based on the original Slurm workload on HPC, combined with the message passing interface technology, it can realize multi-machine parallel processing of containerized jobs in a high-performance environment without changing the user's habit of submitting jobs. The lab part starts with HPL benchmarks and then evaluates the performance of VASP applications on containers and physical machines. Experimental results show that the containerization process is feasible and flexible, and the performance overhead after containerization is within 4%. This research is expected to provide an effective solution for the construction and operation of containerized applications in the high-performance computing field. © 2023 SPIE.

The recontouring process of aircraft engine parts like turbine blades is a manual or in best-case semi-automated process due to high individuality of the workpiece. This leads to in-process scrap because of low process stability and high process times. An automation of process planning reduces both. This paper introduces a method for a fully automated and individual tool path planning using 3D-scan data. Geometric parameters of the degenerated blade were considered to find best-suitable target geometry in a robust way. For turbine blade repair, the process stability is increased while meeting the dimensional tolerances required for the international aviation certifications. © 2023 The Authors. The visualization and digitization of Chinese classical garden literature is the only way to carry forward the traditional excellent garden culture and inherit the ancient garden design and appreciation of wisdom. Take the 'Imperial Gardens' of Qi Biaojia in the late Ming Dynasty as an example, and discusses the virtual simulation steps of classical garden literature and historical images around the key knowledge points of the ideals, implementation process, design goals and viewpoints of historical gardens. (1) The 2 historical images can be used to restore the construction stage of Yushan Garden with the help of 3D models and animations. (2) According to the theory of borrowed scene design, 49 landscapes and related verses can be converted into Yushan garden design drawings and professional 3D models, and multi-view pictures can be output for secondary digital production. (3) Based on the poems of the sixteen sceneries inside and outside the garden, the animation art is created with the composition of Chinese painting, restoring the garden life scenes of Qi Biaojia and others, and explaining the ideal gardening in ancient China. The creation of virtual platforms such as image digitization, building and plant model production, and the overall integration of UDK engines can help people understand the complex cultural symbol network constructed by Chinese garden literature. © 2022 IEEE.

With the rapid development of automation technology, the manufacturing industry is facing the transformation from traditional manufacturing to intelligent manufacturing. Manufacturing product design inspection is an important process to ensure product quality. With the development of computer technology, especially the continuous improvement and application of computer vision and deep learning algorithm theory, more and more companies apply computer vision to product design inspection to improve the automation of equipment, reduce the cost of employing people, and improve the accuracy and efficiency of product design inspection. In order to meet specific design requirements, this paper designs and implements a metal product design system based on machine learning design. The system is not only able to meet the needs of manual design, but also can use mature computer vision-related algorithms to complete the initial automatic design and manual modification, thus greatly improving the design efficiency. It is worth mentioning that the system also has good scalability, which lays a good foundation for the preparation of image datasets. On this basis, the detailed design and implementation inside each module is presented, using class diagrams and data tables to show the implementation of methods in the classes. Immediately afterwards, each function of the designed system is tested, describing the expected and actual results. Finally, a summary of the completed work is presented, and the next steps related to the image design system are envisioned. © 2023 IEEE.

In the continuously and rapidly evolving operational landscape of modern organizations, capabilities are a valuable conceptual asset. Capability thinking and management facilitates the analysis of the value produced by an organization. As a result, capability management plays an essential role in assessing and enhancing an organization's capabilities to align with dynamic contextual factors and internal needs. Within capability management, a variety of analysis types exists, focusing on different ways to explore and examine capability improvement potentials, like mapping, modeling, and maturity assessment, with several specific approaches associated to each type. However, existing approaches for capability analysis often focus on single perspectives while omitting to provide support for the capability aspects that need to be taken into consideration before the initiation of the analysis. This study aims to explore the potentials for the development of a framework for pre-analyzing capabilities, which can holistically add value to all types of capability analysis. A set of essential capability aspects, such as discovery, demarcation, size, and ownership, that need to be identified and clarified before the initiation of an analysis are suggested towards the development of a generic capability pre-analysis framework. © 2024 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

A new method to desalinate water by making use of swollen hydrogels under externally applied pressure-difference-driven diffusion is being proposed. The swelling process of hydrogel involves diffusion, polymer–solvent interaction, and mechanical deformation. The present research aims to investigate the use of FEA model to simulate hydrogel as a semi-permeable membrane. Diffusion of water molecules in hydrogel is modelled using Fick’s law, polymer–solvent interaction described by the Flory–Huggins mixing theory and mechanical deformation reported with the theory of rubber elasticity. The FEA model yielded a set of partial differential equations with ordinary differential equations for which COMSOL Multiphysics 5.5 is selected as the simulation software. A parametric analysis is conducted to evaluate the overall significance of the model parameters on hydrogel’s behaviour. Reproduction of the hydrogel’s poroviscoelastic behaviour to the exterior incentives and the transport phenomena of species through hydrogel has been successfully demonstrated and validated for a new methodology of water desalination considering NaCl (salt) as a permeate. The salt rejection ratio has been estimated, and it is found to be 40% with an average salt volume fraction reducing from 0.5 M to 0.3 M. The suggested model may also be explored to design and optimize hydrogels for biological separations. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Consumers are increasingly accepting of items based on a sustainable design or project;as a result, corporations should consider these several characteristics while developing new products. In this work we intend to analyse the environmental impact of the production and manufacturing from the conception and design stage, up to the disassembly of the products, using software and simulation routines dedicated to the assessment of the environmental impact of the materials, production, distribution and end-of-life strategies using the SOLIDWORKS Sustainability. The work is divided into several parts: definition of sustainability in the development of products;legal proceeding;environmental impact analysis studies throughout the life cycle assessment (LCA) of a product;case study of a plastic cup. The environmental impact of materials will be studied from the stage of obtaining raw materials, through transport, production, use and disposal (or restart as a new product) supported by the concept of circular economy. Optimizing the allocation of healthcare resources has never been easier than with the help of Graph Neural Networks (GNNs). In healthcare systems, where complications abound, GNNs may help with the allocation of resources in a way that improves both patient outcomes and operational efficiency. The goal is to use GNNs' graph-modelling capabilities to describe healthcare networks, with hospitals, doctors, and other medical resources acting as nodes and potential transfers of patients or shared resources as edges. Using both past and present data, the goal is to optimize resource allocation by forecasting the most effective distribution patterns. The decision-making process is improved by using important methods including attention mechanisms, message-passing algorithms, and node embeddings. The accuracy and scalability of healthcare resource management are both enhanced by GNNs, which capture spatial and temporal dynamics. The general efficacy of healthcare delivery systems is improved by this method, which permits more precise forecasts and efficient use of resources. The results highlight how GNNs can change healthcare resource allocation models. From GitHub repository data the short interfering RNAs (siRNAs) and microRNAs (miRNAs) data with efficacy is calculated. Out of the 8 data collected as samples for various siRNAs the efficacy minimum value is 0.07 and the maximum value is 0.946 and in other data samples collected it is 0.386 and 0.777. For miRNAs it is 0.934 and 0.394 and in other data sample collected it is 0.738 and 0.432. © 2024 IEEE.
