The remote-controlled explosive ordnance disposal machine (EODM) is an important device using in the military, which had been designed and developed by many countries in the world. One of the most important components in this machine is hydraulic system that drives the operating units. This paper focuses on modelling and dynamic simulating of the hydraulic system during the bomb laying process. The main target of this study is to meet the requirements for controlling an EODM with high specific power, low hysteresis, high precision control, which ensures precision operation and safety. The hydraulic system was modeled in mathematical formula and then was simulated by using LMS Amesim software to evaluate the dynamic response of the system. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2021.

The detection system for non-contact human vital signs is being gradually developed, and breathing and heartbeat, as very important vital signs information of the human body, will have a large number of noisy signals in the recognition process, and the inability to accurately separate respiratory and heartbeat signals has become one of the problems that need to be solved urgently at this stage. To this end, this paper proposes a non-contact human vital signs monitoring method based on millimeter-wave radar, which analyzes the collected real data by using continuous wavelet transform, fast Fourier transform, phase extraction and other methods, and realizes the recognition of human respiratory and heartbeat physiological movements at a certain distance. In order to verify the feasibility and correctness of this method, this paper not only compares and analyzes the breathing and heartbeat data detected by the ECG module with the data collected by millimeter-wave radar, but also compares the signals in the simulation environment to further prove that the method can realize the separation and recognition of breathing and heartbeat signals of a single human target at a certain distance.

Buried pipe is usually used for laying submarine pipeline. However, in the process of submarine trenching and pipe laying, the pipe laying route is not a straight line, some are perpendicular to the direction of sand dune ridge, and some are along the direction of sand dune ridge. In order to study the scouring effect of the two paths, the numerical scouring simulation of the two methods was carried out. Firstly, the Sediment Scour Model in FLOW-3D was used to simulate the vertical jet scouring of single nozzle. The numerical simulation results were in good agreement with the experimental results in the references, which verified the reliability of FLOW-3D Sediment Scour Model to simulate the real jet scouring. Then, the numerical model of biaxial flow pump passing through sand dunes was established, and the scouring characteristics in the direction of the vertical dune ridge line and along the direction of the dune ridge line were compared. The results show that the ditch depth in these two ways is similar, but the ditch width along sand dune ridge line is wider, which can provide a certain reference for practical construction. © 2021 IEEE.

Data safety concerns are critical during the whole lifecycle of any built asset from the design stage until destruction. Information security in Building Information Modeling (BIM) enabled projects represents a key factor for the whole process success. Unsuitable distribution of sensitive information may cause financial loss, lack of trust and even physical security threats. This paper would propose a novel solution to secure BIM workflow through a Blockchain technology-based lifecycle approach. The aim in this solution is to integrate a blockchain-based lifecycle management platform with BIM software. The interactions and system transactions between the two entities will be managed by distributed ledger technology and smart contracts. This will ensure workflow's security by strengthening the transparency, traceability and securing information exchange.

The study of low-dimensional, noisy manifolds embedded in a higher dimensional space has been extremely useful in many applications, from the chemical analysis of multi-phase flows to simulations of galactic mergers. Building a probabilistic model of the manifolds has helped in describing their essential properties and how they vary in space. However, when the manifold is evolving through time, a joint spatiotemporal modelling is needed, in order to fully comprehend its nature. We propose a first-order Markovian process that propagates the spatial probabilistic model of a manifold at fixed time, to its adjacent temporal stages. The proposed methodology is demonstrated using a particle simulation of an interacting dwarf galaxy to describe the evolution of a cavity generated by a Supernova.

The presented work is devoted to the study of the effect of various values of the electron beam current on the distribution of the energy cross section of the weld when conducting the technological process of electron-beam welding of thin-walled structures. The work is used by the simulation system of COMSOL Multiphysics, in which mathematical models of energy distribution proposed by the authors are implemented with electron beam welding. Imitation modelling was carried out for two materials widely used in the aerospace industry: titan alloy BT14 and AMG aluminum alloy. The values of the parameters for which the simulation was carried out were selected as a result of the predetermined process of optimizing the technological mode of electron beam welding for the construction under study. In the process of the research, a change in the value of the electron beam current is carried out both in less and to the large side. The article presents visualization for the three values of the parameter under study for each material, which makes it possible to judge the effectiveness of the previously formed set of optimal parameter values. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Due to the manufacturing demand for mass customization and the widespread application of flexible automated production equipment, manufacturers tend to shorten their production cycle. This results in a loss of regularity in the production system, and it becomes difficult for manufacturers to control the product and process quality. To circumvent the issues related with these uncertainties, recent studies showed that using stochastic programming approach in Material Requirement Planning software can yield significant cost saving for the industry. However, there are very few studies that discuss uncertain production demand and lead time simultaneously. To fill these gaps, this paper considers the lot-sizing problems for production planning with uncertainties. We propose a stochastic optimization methodology for production planning with uncertain demand and lead time based on the digital twin. The proposed method is based on the simulation and Bayesian network forecast methods. In addition, we explain how the approach can be integrated with the digital twin systems. More precisely, we integrate the lot-sizing model with the simulation model, domain model, and Bayesian network model to forecast the lead time and improve the lot-sizing model with uncertain demand and lead time. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

The text presents theoretical considerations of the character and role of visual representations in the process of virtual modeling for architectural heritage. These images of the past are analyzed in different contexts, including contemporary culture with its visual character and the modeling process itself, treated as a simulation of the past, with references to modeling and the simulation theory. Terminology aspects regarding the commonly used term "reconstruction" are discussed in the light of the character of virtual models of architectural heritage, their provenance and usage. The role of images as meta-representations of the possible modeled reality visual representations of models is also considered. The need for standards and best practices in the area of visual language and image production for architectural heritage is discussed. The emphasis is put on the methods to neutralize the seductive character of computer-based visualizations. Finally, a postulate for interactivity to be focused more on creating user-based scenarios based on research hypotheses rather than concentrated on the walkability of an immersive environment is formulated. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The decommissioning of nuclear reactors is a worldwide problem because of process complex, high radioactive, high cost, leak of experience etc. Due to varying degrees of activation and radioactive nuclide contamination of the components within the nuclear reactor, appropriate treatment measures must be taken based on the radioactive levels of each component to ensure safe storage. The goal of this study is to design the cutting method for reactor components based on the dimensions of the solid waste packaging steel boxes to achieve optimal utilization of the cut blocks. For this specific purpose, a simulated annealing algorithm is adopted to optimize the packing of cut blocks, simplifying the complex three-dimensional irregular parts packing problem into a two-dimensional plane study to obtain the optimal number of cut blocks in each area of the reactor components. By determining the optimal number of cut blocks, a cutting plan is formulated, and a global packing plan for all cut blocks is derived. The research results show that this method can not only obtain the optimal cutting plan for different cutting areas of reactor components, but also determine the best placement of the cut blocks in the steel boxes while satisfying all cutting constraints. This method provides an effective solution for handling the cutting and packing issues during the decommissioning process of nuclear reactors and has potential for practical applications. This simulation and method will be applied to build of digital twin of nuclear reactor decommissioning.

Brain tumor is a disorder caused by the growth of abnormal brain cells. Brain tumor is a major risk for the patient’s survival rate and quality of life since it can cause severe impairment of organ function and even death. In the study, the research team presented an approach by utilizing methods to the modeling of brain tumor by replacing 3D with 2D convolutions based on tumor segmentation on 2D images using the Geometric convolutional neural network (gCNN) and Point Cloud. This method not only enables to conduct an accurate reconstruction and location, but also aids in monitoring changes in tumor size and growth rate over time. A result of the study indicates that the implement of gCNN and Point Cloud significantly improves the accuracy and efficiency in brain tumor segmentation and monitoring, thus supporting medical practitioners in the diagnosis and treatment planning process. This approach holds immeasurable promise in the medical field, aiming to enhance the quality of care and treatment for patients with brain tumors. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.
