Fiber optics plays a very important role in the curriculum frame of optics and photonics for graduate and postgraduate students in the major of optical engineering. Here we introduce the basic functions of two useful self-developed software namely SeeFiberTool and SeeFiberLaser. By embedding physical equations, SeeFiberTool is a convenient tool collection that can be installed on either smartphone or a personal computer. SeeFiberLaser is a powerful virtual simulation lab for the numerical simulation of pulsed and continuous-wave fiber lasers. Their applications in the teaching process of fiber optics are discussed in order to improve the teaching qualities.

Executing cyber attacks attribution experiments for training defenders is an important usage of cyber ranges. During the experiment, attack simulation process needs manual operation of highly skilled personnel, but the procedure is labor intensive and human could cause errors, an attack simulation tool for cyber ranges is needed. We propose Scorpio, an automated penetration testing tool to simulate an attacker's behavior with seamless scanning and automated exploit process. And for integrate with cyber ranges, we find a method for virtual machines in a cyber range to communicate with the manage server without breaking the network isolation, with this method, visualization mechanism is also supported. We conducted an experiment with Scorpio in a range for showing the whole automated attack simulation and visualization process. Result shows that, with Scorpio equipped, the manual operation of professional penetration testers for attack simulation could be replaced, that is cost-efficient and time-saving.

Virtual simulation system law teaching system usually adopts multi-level technology and modular technology, which makes the teaching system have good scalability, allows users to carry out practical a operation in actual law teaching, and adds new experimental teaching modules at the same time. The goal of establishing law laboratory is to create a diversified and systematic teaching environment. Based on computer technology, make full use of virtual simulation technology to establish three- dimensional legal model and construct virtual simulation legal experiment system. It can further realize the data analysis of virtual simulation technology and law teaching. The laboratory system has a complete data protection mechanism. All data confidence in the system will be backed up by the system, using incremental backup and stage overall backup model. It can better preserve the data information and operation process generated in the process of law experiment teaching, and Hitler can quickly restore even if data loss occurs.

The FORGE@ numerical simulation was used to analysis and research on the integrated forming nozzle process of the main steam pipe, and then guide sampling test plan and forming process evaluation. The results show that the maximum axial tensile stress appears in the middle of the forming process, which is on the inner surface of the extrusion deformation transition region, and the maximum radial tensile stress and equivalent strain appears at the end of the extrusion nozzle forming process, which is located in the inner surface area of the nozzle mouth, and it is easy to crack. For the weak position, it is necessary to increase the number of samples and test items to verify the overall quality of nozzle. © 2020 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

In the process of oilfield development, formation pressure is an essential parameter for evaluating oilfield development effect, calculating dynamic geological reserves, conducting daily dynamic analysis of oil and water Wells and predicting oilfield performance. The pressure recovery time of conventional gas well after shut-in is very long, and it is difficult to effectively carry out targeted implementation due to the influence of gas field external supply *** this paper, based on the actual data of Jingbian gas field, through the comparison of several calculation methods of formation pressure, the best method to calculate formation pressure is comprehensively screened *** results show that: ?For a single method, the accuracy of the method from high to low is the well head casing pressure conversion method, the pressure drop curve method, the binomial productivity equation method, and the quasi-steady state mathematical model method.?The absolute error of multi-method comprehensive calculation method is 0.9MPa, which is far less than the average absolute error directly calculated by one *** multi-method comprehensive calculation method is reliable when applied to the formation pressure evaluation of typical gas Wells in Jingbian gas field, which lacks data. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. In industrial and automotive environment, speedy and reliable procurement of 3D data has become essential and is one of the main requirements for future development. Photonic mixer device (PMD) sensors which are based on time of flight (TOF) technology aim at delivering speedy images with depth data to suit the real-time applications. A software simulation of such sensor is an integral for its design and calibration. Expensive prototypes can be avoided for sensor testing and calibration as the sensor characteristics can be fixed by using a software simulator. Ray tracing is crucial for scene generation, which is a key step in sensor simulation. This paper proposes sequential algorithm for ray tracing for scene generation in the simulation process of PMD sensors. The algorithm is implemented for scene generation using basic shapes like plane, box, sphere and triangle with all possible combinations. It is observed that some shapes like triangle take more time to compute its 3D information as compared to other shapes like box, plane and sphere due to complexity. It is also possible to get 3D information for all possible combinations of basic shapes in the scene generation. The time taken by the system to generate a scene with multiple objects is not affected by the order in which the objects are placed in the scene. Scene generation takes more time, if the triangle is involved in scene generation. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Software products designed to simulate technological processes are currently very relevant, since they help to prepare workers in advance for difficult production situations. It has been proven that simulation systems can improve design efficiency by 20% with quality workflow management tools, and capital cost savings of up to 30% can be achieved with the right materials for security design. Currently, there are various software and hardware tools for computer modeling of technological objects, selection of technological modes and adjustment of control loops. These tools include Unisim. Unisim is a unique software package from Honeywell that combines a variety of products, including an extensive list of components and thermodynamic properties packages, used to simulate complex process systems.

Particle swarm optimization (PSO), as one of the metaheuristic optimization methods, has the merits of fast convergence, few adjustable parameters and simple searching process, but it also has the disadvantages of easily falling into local optimal and low convergence precision. Hence, a chaotic PSO with spiral-shaped update strategy (CPSOS) is presented in this work. First, the chaotic mapping method is used to generate the initial swarm to enhance the quality of initial particles. Second, a method based on time-varying acceleration coefficients is employed to trade off the exploration and exploitation through the analysis of velocity and position changes for particle. In addition, an adaptive position updating strategy based on spiral-shaped mechanism is adopted in different evolutionary states to get better global convergence. Finally, simulation experiment of the CPSOS algorithm is carried out based on 12 classical benchmark functions, and the convergence analysis under 2-dimensional environment is also detailed. It can be concluded from the convergence figures that the CPSOS has much better robustness and stability by improving the shortcomings of standard particle swarm optimization. Motion detection plays as an important role in the implementation of video surveillance system and video analysis applications. The detection of moving foreground objects from the complex background scene is the first step in most of the computer vision based surveillance applications. In this paper, we present a new motion detection method using background modelling technique and moving average feature. For establishing the robust background model, we create the Gamma Mixture Model based on the Gamma distribution function. For handling the foreground aperture problem, we use the feature called moving average which can well recognize the alive silent objects. As post-processing, we handle the shadow removing process by generating the dynamic shadow threshold. The experimental results show that the proposed motion detection method can detect the accurate foreground object even though the foreground object appears as silent background objects in real-time environment. © 2020 IEEE.

Manufacturing and assembly industries are continually searching to optimize their resources and achieve improvements in their production systems. At a time when the differentiating factor is found in efficiency and competitiveness in production, Lean Manufacturing (LM) philosophy contributes to these differentiators, focusing mainly on the elimination of waste to obtain an improvement in processes, quality, and delivery times, being evident the results in a short period. This article proposes optimizing processes within a bicycle assembly plant by applying a LM tool called Value Stream Map (VSM), which presents the current production processes and their requirements, facilitating the identification of waste within the system. Regarding process mapping, the bicycle model E26 was selected for illustrative purposes. Additionally, the 5S tool was used to maintain tidiness and cleanliness within the processes for obtaining an agile production flow. The study also included the balancing of lines, getting a reduction of 14% in "cycle time" and 66% in "lead time", generating a mixed production (push and pull). Moreover, a warehouse distribution of raw material was proposed, obtaining the unification of all the materials involved in the process. Finally, the VSM future’s legitimacy was confirmed through simulation, validating the results obtained from the LM tools’ application. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
