Creating content for games manually is very time consuming labor-intensive work. With the constant evolution in hardware technology, it is difficult to cope up with the high levels of visual fidelity and performance that is expected of this medium. Procedural Content Generation is a very good alternative to manual content creation but still has seen very limited usage. Common drawbacks of this process are the lack of control over the output and the absence of a unifying modeling framework to make use of these techniques, although more recent research has been aimed towards tackling this problem. This paper surveys the various properties of procedural terrain modeling techniques (which are: Random Number Generator, Perlin Noise, Voronoi Tessellation and Midpoint Displacement), assess the authenticity of the output and the control a user can exert over the procedure. © 2019 IEEE.

The finite element analysis (FEA) of components' build-up has recently proved to be a valuable tool for accompanying the product and process development during additive manufacturing (AM). In this numerical method a first key aspect is the heat input modelling of laser scanning for building-up AM products of industrial relevance, as close to reality as possible, by applying equivalent heat source models. Based on these reduction models the stress distribution in a successive thermo-mechanical simulation is calculated approximating the sum of thermal, elastic and plastic stresses during processing and the remaining elastic and plastic stresses after cooling. A further key aspect is, thereupon, to predict the final shape of the additively manufactured component by means of the FEA after its removal from the substrate or the support structures. This work aims to analyze the development of stresses in components during their additive laser processing and cooling to ambient temperature as well as after post-processing cutting operations. Moreover, the associated to stress development simulated final part shape is evaluated with the aid of 3d measurements on an additively manufactured twin cantilever of industrial relevance. Finally, based on the rendered simulation results a compensation of the undesired shape distortions is proposed based on reverse engineering approach.

The paper considers the problem of building a two-channel organizational management mechanism in a dynamic system. This system includes a control object with a possibly indefinite structure under unsteady disturbances, and a human operator making management decisions. A simulation of the management mechanism has been made for various human operator strategies in the system where there is the object described by a simple mathematical dynamic model.

Mn (Manganese) related materials are valuable magneto-caloric materials according to their giant magneto-caloric effect and produce large temperature span between magnetization and demagnetization phase, they could be used for magnetic refrigeration or magnetic heat pumps which do not usdse F-gases, enable smaller CO2 emission, thus environmental friendly compared with conventional vapor compression type thermal devices. In addition, the curie temperature of the materials could be controlled by proportion arrangement of the material component. However, these Mn related materials in powdery state was difficult to build up model by metal powder layer modelling method (SLS method) because of cracks and instability between layers, or unintended curie temperature shift caused by high laser radiation power in melting process. To avoid these instabilities of the material and its curie temperature shift, we have developed a modelling method using resin binder to model structures for AMR (Active Magnetic Regenerator) for magnetic caloric devices. Supervision of a complex system involves studying and analyzing its functioning as well as a continuous search for its improvement and optimization. simulation in general, and discrete event simulation in particular, is an appropriate tool to support the various management policies and strategies. In order to carry out a simulation project, particular importance must be given to the simulation process, which prompted us in this paper to ask the following question: is there a life cycle of a project of simulation or a referential of steps to follow? In this paper, we have used the simulation steps most cited in the literature to develop a life cycle for a simulation project called SPLC (simulation Project Life Cycle) grouping the main steps. Then, we were interested in the analysis of the level of use of these different steps by the simulation processes, described in the literature review, to conduct a simulation project.

In Proposed architecture proportional integral based power quality enhancement PV generation system is designed for current harmonics mitigation, improve power factor and compensate reactive power for three-phase three-wire system. Structure consists of SVPWM based three phase inverter supplied with standalone photovoltaic system, self-supported DC bus, shunt active power filter controlled with proportional integral controller and non-linear load. Boost converter incorporated with perturb and observe maximum power point tracking technique is used to acquire maximum output from photovoltaic array. Power quality issue waveform driven event harmonic is caused due to non-linear load (NLL). Implemented system can effectively mitigate the current harmonics and improve power quality. Total harmonic distortion of the source current is obtained below IEEE-519 standards. We can see effectiveness of developed system from simulation results obtained from simulation modelling in 2015(b). © 2019 IEEE.

The article discusses the essence and legitimacy of computer simulations to plan, monitor and optimize the course of various types of systems, in order to increase their productivity, shorten working time and achieve the desired economic efficiency without having to introduce costly and risky changes in the real process. This paper demonstrates a method of simulation of technological processes, using the example of mining production system realized with longwall complex strategies, using the FlexSim software. The possibility of simulation is presented through two approaches, where the first is based on the standard model structure, while the second is based on new software functionality, which is modeling in the "process Flow" concept that is particularly useful during the simulation of complex operations. An advantage of the second concept was demonstrated by presenting a faster and more accurate construction process of the aforementioned model. The developed model allows for the exact selection of the best parameters and the estimation of the main indicators characterizing the production process carried out by the longwall complex. Modeling results can be used in the production planning process in mining and at the same time can contribute to maximize its efficiency.

Piezoelectricity is a growing area of energy harvesting research. Piezoelectric energy harvester (PEH) generally use cantilever structures in unimorph and bimorph configuration. These harvester sense the mechanical vibration and convert them into usable electric energy. In this work, an analytical model displaying the characteristics of PEH with resonant frequency, tip deflections and output power have been determined. Analytical model is in close agreement with the FEM simulation model having an error of about 5%. In order to bridge the gap between FEM simulation and energy harvesting circuitry an equivalent electrical model for the energy harvester is developed. Resonant frequency determined from the equivalent model is 87.12 Hz, whereas from FEM model and analytical model are 90.56 Hz and 93.32 Hz respectively.

The article presents the structure of the computer system for solving the problem of controlling the converter steelmaking process taking into account the requirements of environmental safety, intensification of the processes of recycling raw materials and materials, as well as reducing the waste capacity of production. The basis of the computer system is a customizable library of mathematical models (fuzzy, deterministic, and empirical). The library allows calculating and predicting key process parameters (converter productivity, steel quality composition, carbon dioxide emissions, refractory consumption of the working layer of the converter lining, aggressiveness of the slag melt, amount of slag formed). The computer system allows, in the mode of the operator-distributor of the converter, to identify complex fuzzy relationships between process parameters and make recommendations on resource- and energy-saving control of the steelmaking converter process, taking into account environmental safety requirements. computer system was tested according to metallurgical enterprises PAO Severstal and PAO NLMK.

Identification and extraction of causality from the text have always been an active domain of research since long. Along with the identified causalities, it is also important to identify the associated causal events. modelling of a system that can automatically extract the causalities becomes more tedious with the need of a large annotated corpus to train the model. Often the performance of the system is influenced by the application domain and the terminologies that are vital and specific to the domain itself. Through this paper, we propose a process framework that learns to extract causality and other relevant information from the text input through applied Machine learning. The test data that we used is from the domain of social science where the text contains the narratives from women about the experiences of their life. The results are represented as a causal graph model which can be further used for visualization and interpretation of causality. © 2019 IEEE.
