In this paper, we present an performance evaluation of a 256-core cluster based on the Intel Xeon Processor E5-2680. This is the new version of Sandy Bridge processor for server and workstation market. It employs an integrated memory controller, dual Intel Quick Path Interconnect (QPI) port and integrated PCIe 3.0 controller. We assessed these architectural enhancements using the High Performance Computing Challenge (HPCC) benchmarks and NAS parallel Benchmarks (NPB). For Interconnect analysis we have used the NetPIPE performance evaluator. We compare and contrast the results of a cluster based on the Intel Xeon E5-2680 with a cluster based on Intel Xeon 5680 Processor and another cluster based on Intel Xeon 5570 Processor.

Cloud computing provides a new paradigm for industries to meet the emerging business needs by accessing distributed computing resources such as infrastructure, hardware andsoftware applications on-demand over the internet as services. As the technology and the need is growing very fast, in future there may be multiple vendors offering different services with different Quality of Services (QoS) and at various prices. This would lead to development of new methods and tools for the performance evaluation of the system to meet the offerings and requirements. In this paper, we present an analytical finite population model for performance evaluation of a private cloud computing system. Various performance measures of the cloud system for finite population environment indicate that the proposed provisioning technique helps the cloud operators in tuning the resources accordingly to improve the QoS targets.

This paper concerns development of a pulsed-Doppler radar system prototyping framework designed for deployment on the Reconfigurable Hardware Interface for computiNg and radiO (Rhino) platform. The Rhino platform combines a low-cost Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and an ARM processor, designed for use in prototyping software Defined Radio applications. The Rhino is intended as both a training platform and research tool for skills development in this field [1]. The project reported on in this paper involves develop of a software and gateware application framework for Rhino to facilitate lab-based testing and hardware-in-the-loop simulation for radar applications. The framework comprises a collection of `radar blocks', programmed in a hardware description language, that are connected together and run on the Rhino's FPGA, and controlled by Linux-based embedded software on the ARM. The performance of a standard pulsed-Doppler radar system was tested. The results show the functions operate correctly, but the data rates are restrictive. The conclusions discuss advantages and disadvantages of the system, together with further plans for improving the framework.

New opportunities have been explored in social, business, entertainment and scientific fields due to the development of high speed computer networks and that of, internet in particular. The watermarking is the process of embedding a signal in to other signal robustly and invisibly at the same time, the embedded signal is called watermark and the other signal is called cover or host signal. Performance models can be built at early stages of software development cycle to aid software designers to assess design alternatives and identify fundamental design pitfalls before the implementation phase starts. These models are flexible for varying operational conditions and design alternatives;however, their creation is not trivial and requires considerable efforts. This paper addresses this problem by introducing automation in process of Layered Queuing Network (LQN) performance model creation for traces of events generated from instrumented software programs in the nodes of a distributedparallelsoftware application. The event-traces are created based on a new timestamp format, which is independent of physical time and uses extremely low count elements. A set of post-mortem methodologies have been introduced to identify the interactions between the service nodes of the paralleldistributedsoftware application and determine their workload activities, while supporting concurrent executions in the nodes. It can capture Forward, Asynchronous, Synchronous and loops of Asynchronous or Forward interactions. The final result is a framework of methodologies, specifications and tools which is appropriate for model-based performance evaluation paralleldistributedsoftware applications.
