New technology, integrated tools, and intricate, reusable experiments in distributed computing infrastructures are needed to meet the requirements of modern scientific research. Above all, edge computing requires computational capacity for efficient data processing and analysis. In microservice and edge computing applications, single-board computers and container technologies have emerged as a new model for handling such intricate scientific problems. A single-board computer was constructed with one master and seven worker nodes in the lightweight Kubernetes k3s environment with NFS Server in the same network with an additional Raspberry Pi. A nginx server application was deployed in a Raspberry Pi k3s cluster, and the performance metrics were evaluated by scaling the pods up and down while applying load using external benchmarking software. The performance of the k3s cluster with the load balancer failed to handle transaction requests as the data size increased. It was found that the k3s nodes in the Raspberry Pi cluster failed due to frequently malfunctioning SD cards. © 2024 IEEE.

Soft computing is the study of thinking, propositioning and derivations. The thought behind soft comput-ing is to display psychological conduct of human brain. Soft computing is establishment of reasonable insight in machines. In contrast to hard registering, soft computing is open minded toward imprecision, vulnerability, incomplete truth and estimation. The job model for soft computing is the human brain. The core value of soft computing is: Exploit the capacity to bear imprecision, vulnerability and fractional truth to accomplish manageability, strength and low arrangement cost. Soft computing techniques are now been utilized as a tool for solving real-life day-to-day problems. Soft computing procedures are being pre-ferred because of the unpredictability and vulnerability of the various processes. Major soft computing tools applied for this object are genetic algorithm, ant colony optimization, swarm intelligence, and par-ticle swarm optimization. Information recommendation systems is the one of the most effective tools to solve the problem of information overload. In this paper, we design SIRS CA, a semantic-driven information recommendation system under cloud architecture. SIRSCA mainly includes four modules: semantics representation of foundation data and user preference informations;indexing mechanism of massive semantic informations under cloud architecture;recommendation approaches based on semantic computation theory;and technologies of dynamic migration under cloud architecture.

In this paper we study the ILPnet2 co-authorship network. The ILPnet2 on-line library (***/ILPnet2 /tools/Reports/) is a repository of more than 1,000 ILP-related articles by well over 500 authors, published between 1970 and 2003. Co-authorship networks constitute a specific view on bibliographic data, in which scientific publications are modeled as vertices, and two vertices are connected by an undirected edge whenever the two corresponding papers share at least one author. We investigate the largest connected component in this network, which contains 816 papers by 526 different authors. Properties of interest include degree distribution and degree centrality, eigenvector centrality, and PageRank. We furthermore study the community structure in this network by applying the Newman-Girvan algorithm. Our main conclusion is that, even with restricted information based purely on co-authorship, bibliographic network analysis can reveal useful and interesting patterns. © 2010 IEEE.

The paper discusses the problem of preparing a computing environment for large-scale scientific experiments in the process of continuous integration of applied and system software. A comparative analysis of software configuration management tools (such as Chef, Ansible, Puppet, and SaltStack) of computational nodes in a heterogeneous environment is being performed. These tools are intended for automating the configuration of different nodes. Such automation reduces the setup time of nodes and increases the reliability of computations by minimizing the number of software and hardware failures, associated with the human factor in the manual configuration process. For the development of scientific applications, the Orlando tools framework is used. Based on the results of the comparative analysis and requirements of this framework, the Ansible framework was selected for further integration into the chain of continuous integration of applied and system software. Practical experiments have shown the advantages of using Ansible in comparison with other systems of a similar purpose. Copyright © 2020 for this paper by its authors. Fault tolerance engineering has been advocated as one of the main approaches to ensuring the overall system dependability. The 2nd International Workshop on Engineering Fault Tolerant Systems (EFTS 2007) aims to investigate how fault tolerance mechanisms can be taken into account when engineering complex software systems and to improve our understanding of where and how fault-tolerance should be integrated in the software life-cycle. The focus of the workshop is on developing novel models to be applied at different abstraction levels (requirements, architecture and design models for fault tolerance, together with new implementation schemes), innovative technologies (tools and frameworks for implementing distributed fault tolerant systems) and advanced verification environments (to assess the achieved level of fault tolerance and to evaluate the dependability properties of the systems). Recently there has been a growing interest in the areas directly related and overlapping with fault tolerance, such as self-healing, resilience, self-adaptation and self-management. The topics related to engineering of systems with such properties are in the scope of the workshop as the intention is to improve the current understanding of how fault tolerance engineering can benefit from research on these areas.

The paper addresses issues of continuous integration in the development of scientific applications based on workflows (special case of distributed applied software packages) for heterogeneous computing environments. The preparation and carrying out of scientific computational experiments are often accompanied by intensive software modification. Thus, there is a need for the following stages: building, testing, debugging, and installation new versions of software in heterogeneous nodes of environment. These stages may take longer time overheads than computations themselves. The solution to this challenge lies in the use of tools for continuous integration of software. However, such tools require deep integration with the tools for the workflow development because of scientific workflow specifics. To this end, the paper describes the combination of the author's Orlando tools framework for the development and use packages with the GitLab system that is widely used for continuous integration. Such combination significantly reduces the complexity of software continuous when developing and using packages. Copyright © 2020 for this paper by its authors. A major barrier to successful construction project delivery has been the fragmentation and poor relationships existing between players in the construction industry. This significant issue has exerted a negative influence on project objectives, especially those which are predetermined, such as time, specified budget and standard quality. Construction projects require intensive efforts and processes, which it is often a challenge to provide to parties within the construction industry, to access accurate information and efficient communications. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the construction collaboration tools along with concepts of context-aware computing and cloud computing. The findings in this research are based on a thorough review of the comprehensive literature on IT, computing and construction. Consequently, this study sets out to introduce and develop the concepts of potential innovative collaborative tools, such as Context-Aware Cloud computing Information Systems (CACCIS), for facilitating the construction supply chain processes and networks by enhancing the opportunities for achieving better competitive advantages. Firstly, it is hoped that this study will lead to improved construction collaboration to enhance the competitive advantages and opportunities for the internationalisation and globalisation of the construction industry. Secondly, it presents an effective method to provide new insights into the process of integration and, most significantly, to improve the productivity, efficiency and effectiveness of the construction industry.

Quantum optimal control can be used to shape the control pulses for realizing unitary and non-unitary transformations of quantum states. These control pulses provide the fundamental interface between the quantum compiler and the quantum hardware. Most current software for quantum optimal control (e.g. Qutip [1] or Krotov [2]) is restricted to run on shared memory platforms, limiting their applicability to smaller quantum systems, in particular if interactions with the environment are taken into account. This paper gives an overview of the open-source code Quandary, which is designed to solve quantum control problems in larger open quantum systems modelled by Lindblad's master equation. Implemented in C++, Quandary uses the message passing paradigm for distributed memory computers that enables scalability to large numbers of compute cores. Accompanied by numerical examples, this paper presents an overview on existing theoretical developments for open optimal quantum control realizing state-To-state transfer, unitary gate optimization as well as state-preparation, and presents the numerical tools and implementation aspect as realized in Quandary, for deployment on modern high-performance computing platforms. © 2021 IEEE.
