With the increasing number of scientific publications as well as conferences and journals, it is often hard for researchers (especially newcomers) to find a suitable venue to present their studies. A submission recommendation system would be hugely helpful to assist authors in deciding where they can submit their work. In this paper, we propose a novel approach for a Scientific Submission Recommendation System for computer science (S2RSCS) by using the necessary information from the title, the abstract, and the list of keywords in given paper submission. By using tf-idf, the chi-square statistics, and the one-hot encoding technique, we consider different schemes for feature selection, which can be extracted from the title, the abstract, and keywords, to generate various groups of features. We investigate two machine-learning models, including Logistic Linear Regression (LLR) and Multi-layer Perceptrons (MLP), for constructing an appropriate recommendation engine. The experimental results show that using keywords can help to increase the performance of the recommendation model significantly. Prominently, the proposed methods outperform the previous work [1] for different groups of features in terms of top-3 accuracy. These results can give a promising contribution to the current research of the paper recommendation topic.

In the educational field, students and faculty are looking for tools that may help to improve the learning process. Today's students, however, are usually too busy to follow a plan of study. practice tests and questions are becoming an essential requirement of textbooks to allow the students to evaluate their current knowledge. Wireless access to the Internet has opened the door to a new range of computer applications, designed to satisfy the requirement of mobile users, equipped with a cell phone device. This paper describes the use of mobile devices as a medium for a self-evaluation tool complete with study guidelines feedback. Such an application is designed and implemented using many traditional Web methodologies, allowing a fast transition from the current wired Web system to the cell phone environment. This paper briefly discusses the Web tools used in such an implementation and presents an example of a test-feedback application appropriate for cell phone access. © 2003 IEEE.

For a fixed graph H, the H-CONTRACTIBILITY problem asks if a graph is H-contractible, i.e., can be transformed into H via a series of edge contractions. The computational complexity classification of tins problem is still open. So far, H has a dominating vertex in all cases known to be polynomially solvable, whereas H does not have such a vertex in all cases known to be NP-complete. Here, we present a class of graphs H with a dominating vertex for which H-CONTRACTIBILITY is NP-complete. We also present a new class of graphs H for which H-CONTRACTIBILITY is polynomially solvable. Furthermore, we study the (H,v)-CONTRACTIBILITY problem, where v is a vertex of H. The input of this problem is a graph G and an integer k. The question is whether G is H-contractible such that the "bag" of G corresponding to v contains at least k vertices. We show that this problem is NP-complete whenever H is connected and v is not a dominating vertex of H.

Multi-label image classification aims to predict all possible labels in an image. It is usually formulated as a partial-label learning problem, since it could be expensive in practice to annotate all the labels in every training image. Existing works on partial-label learning focus on the case where each training image is labeled with only a subset of its positive/negative labels. To effectively address partial-label classification, this paper proposes an end-to-end Generic Game-theoretic Network (G2NetPL) for partial-label learning, which can be applied to most partial-label settings, including a very challenging, but annotation-efficient case where only a subset of the training images are labeled, each with only one positive label, while the rest of the training images remain unlabeled. In G2NetPL, each unobserved label is associated with a soft pseudo label, which, together with the network, formulates a two-player non-zero-sum non-cooperative game. The objective of the network is to minimize the loss function with given pseudo labels, while the pseudo labels will seek convergence to 1 (positive) or 0 (negative) with a penalty of deviating from the predicted labels determined by the network. In addition, we introduce a confidence-aware scheduler into the loss of the network to adaptively perform easy-to-hard learning for different labels. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our proposed G2NetPL outperforms many state-of-the-art multi-label classification methods under various partial-label settings on three different datasets. © 2022. Many data structures give away much more information than they were intended to. Whenever privacy is important, we need to be concerned that it might be possible to infer information from the memory representation of a data structure that is not available through its "legitimate" interface. Word processors that quietly maintain old versions of a document are merely the most egregious example of a general problem. We deal with data structures whose current memory representation does not reveal their history. We focus on dictionaries, where this means revealing nothing about the order of insertions or deletions. Our first algorithm is a hash table based on open addressing, allowing O(1) insertion and search. We also present a history independent dynamic perfect hash table that uses space linear in the number of elements inserted and has expected amortized insertion and deletion time O(1). To solve the dynamic perfect hashing problem we devise a general scheme for history independent memory alloca tion. For fixed-size records this is quite efficient, with insertion and deletion both linear in the size of the record. Our variable-size record scheme is efficient enough for dynamic perfect hashing but not for general use. The main open problem we leave is whether it is possible to implement a variable-size record scheme with low overhead.

The p-n column superjunction (SJ) MOSFET power devices are highly recognized for their higher blocking capability and lower specific on-state resistance. However, in practice, the performance of SJ devices is handicapped with difficulties in formation of perfect charge-balanced p-n columns due to the limitation of current process technology, especially for devices with small widths and low voltage rating. Novel structures of Polysilicon Flanked Superjunction (PF-SJ) and Oxide-bypassed (OB), Graded OB, Slanted OB Superjunction MOSFETs were previously proposed to overcome the SJ fabrication limitation. In this paper, the progression of superjunction power MOSFET device development is discussed with the new approaches on lateral structures demonstrated for future high power integrated circuit applications. ©2007 IEEE.

Hawkes processes have been shown to be efficient in modeling bursty sequences in a variety of applications, such as finance and social network activity analysis. Traditionally, these models parameterize each process independently and assume that the history of each point process can be fully observed. Such models could however be inefficient or even prohibited in certain real-world applications, such as in the field of education, where such assumptions are violated. Motivated by the problem of detecting and predicting student procrastination in students Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) with missing and partially observed data, in this work, we propose a novel personalized Hawkes process model (RCHawkes-Gamma) that discovers meaningful student behavior clusters by jointly learning all partially observed processes simultaneously, without relying on auxiliary features. Our experiments on both synthetic and real-world education datasets show that RCHawkes-Gamma can effectively recover student clusters and their temporal procrastination dynamics, resulting in better predictive performance of future student activities. Our further analyses of the learned parameters and their association with student delays show that the discovered student clusters unveil meaningful representations of various procrastination behaviors in students.

An overview of the active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) is presented in this talk. Ever since ADRC was proposed by Jingqing Han in 1990s[1]1, it has become quite an attractive methodology to applied researchers, even though rigorous theoretical justification was lagging behind for quite some time. The fact that ADRC possesses certain uniqueness in concepts, simplicity in engineering implementation, and superior actual performance allowed it to be readily translated into a valuable asset in engineering practice: namely, the ability in dealing with a vast range of uncertainties, improved transient response, easy implementation and energy savings, to name but a few. The range of applications seems broad, covering almost all domains of control engineering, such as motion control, speed control of induction motor and permanent-magnet synchronous motor, control for noncircular turning process, low-velocity compensation of brushless DC servo, robotic system, underactuated mechanical systems, micro-electro-mechanical systems gyroscope, control for superconducting RF cavities, flight control, attitude tracking of rigid spacecraft, web tension regulation, DC-DC power converter, chemical processes, ALSTOM gasifier benchmark problem, the boilerturbine-generator control systems, stabilization of axial flow compressors, the fractional-order system, etc. [10]-[31]. In the U.S.A., the ADRC solution was recently deployed at a Parker Hannifin Extrusion Plant in North America, resulting in over 50% energy saving per line across ten production lines, together with significant improvements in product quality [32]. And Texas Instrument has adopted the ADRC technology in developing and distributing a new line of motion control chips worldwide [33].The National Superconducting Cyclotron Lab in the U.S. has implemented ADRC in several high energy particle accelerators after significant improvements have been obtained in amplitude and phase regulation of electromagnetic fields.
