An approach for supporting physical independence in object Database Servers is proposed in this paper. While in current implementations the strategy for storing data objects reflects the logical object definitions, a certain degree of independence in the physical database organization would be essential to meet specific performance requirements. In this paper, a canonical object data model and a storage object data model are presented. In the first, the objects are organized in classes;in the second, physical objects with similar structures are grouped in collections. Mechanisms for mapping data structures and operations from the logical level to the physical level are discussed, and a comprehensive example is given. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 1992.

the high blood pressure is a worldwide health risk factor. A medical decision support system (MDSS) is implemented with a fuzzy vectorial space object oriented model and method (FVSOOMM) that uses the objects involved in the clinical decision model (CDM) of high blood pressure disease. this project of platform's development will enable the caregivers to improve the management of the hypertension in Burkina Faso and elsewhere in the world.

CHOOM is a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) model that offers novel deep dynamic knowledge for predicting the toxicity of molecules and their metabolism. It is based on our object-oriented model based on temporal fuzzy vector spaces (FVSOOM) to qualitatively and quantitatively assess the structure-activity relationship (QSAR) from its already known component molecules. the QSAR approaches advocated by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) are mainly based on top-down analytical research OECD (2009). CHOOM offers a systemic evaluation of the emergence of the properties of a new molecule based on the ascending inheritance of FVSOOM and thus an explanation of the causes of its toxicity at each level of its composition hierarchy from each atom to the whole molecule. CHOOM is an innovation AI tool for assessing the continuous flow of new molecules produced by human activity whose potential toxicity must be tested to avoid harmful issues to health and environment sustainability. the reproducibility of the model is based on chemical knowledge of invariant covalent bonds between atoms and previously stored experience of already known molecules.

Within contemporary philosophy, two apparently similar movements have gained atention recently, New Materialism and object oriented Ontology. Although these movements have quite distnct genealogies, they overlap on one key issue: they are both realist movements that focus on the object. In contrast to much twenteth-century thinking centered on the subject, these two movements address the seemingly overlooked question of the object. In shifting atention away from the anthropocentrism of Humanism, both movements can be seen to subscribe to the broad principles of Posthumanism. Are these two movements, however, as similar as they first appear? And how might they be seen to differ in their approach to digital design? this paper is an atempt to evaluate and critque the recent strain of object oriented Ontology and question its validity. It does so by tracing the differences between OOO and New Materialism, specifically through the work of the neo-Heideg-gerian philosopher Graham Harman and the post-Deleuzian philosopher Manuel DeLanda, and by focusing on the question of the 'tool' in partcular. the paper opens up towards the question of the digital tool, questioning the connection between object oriented Ontology and object oriented programming, and introducing the theory of affordances as an alternative to the stylistc logic of 'parametricism' as a way of understanding the impact of digital tools on architectural production. © 2016 CURRAN-conference. Component-based development has become more common news than exotic novelty in mainstream industry. Its adoption has accrued high facilitation potential for software reuse and better organization of the product. Surprisingly however, component-oriented approaches have fared far worse in the domain of high-integrity real-time systems. One of the fundamental reasons of this difficulty stems from the larger incidence of extra functional concerns than in conventional industry and the more stringent demands on the ultimate product quality. It is not intrinsic however that component-based software engineering cannot just make it in that domain. Hence adopting it may be an effort worth pursuing. In this paper we present the main conceptual and methodological steps taken by an initiative of the european Space Agency aimed at the creation of a component model suited for the development of on-board software.

the support for generic programming in modern object-oriented programming languages is awkward and lacks desirable expressive power. We introduce an expressive genericity mechanism that adds expressive power and strengthens static checking, while remaining lightweight and simple in common use cases. Like type classes and concepts, the mechanism allows existing types to model type constraints retroactively. For expressive power, we expose models as named constructs that can be defined and selected explicitly to witness constraints;in common uses of genericity, however, types implicitly witness constraints without additional programmer effort. Models are integrated into the object-oriented style, with features like model generics, model-dependent types, model enrichment, model multimethods, constraint entailment, model inheritance, and existential quantification further extending expressive power in an object-oriented setting. We introduce the new genericity features and show that common generic programming idioms, including current generic libraries, can be expressed more precisely and concisely. the static semantics of the mechanism and a proof of a key decidability property can be found in an associated technical report.

Reflective practice is needed for a balanced integration of new learning and teaching approaches in higher education. However, it often remains unacknowledged or is even seen as too expensive. the paper presents a case study, which demonstrates a successful application of two methods for collective reflective activity. Indirect collective allo-confrontation and exploratory prototyping supported a group of teachers in software engineering in reflecting on students' modeling sessions with a multi-touch editor and on teaching object-oriented modeling in general. Both methods supported each other in a constructive manner and allowed teachers to have a reflective and experimental stance towards their work. © 2018 ACM.

Network-based computer environments emulating selected aspects of the physical world and allowing interaction among their human users first appeared in the late 1970s. these environments implemented a networked version of a role-playing fantasy game known as Dungeons and Dragons, hence their acronym MUD (Multi-user Dungeons). When it became obvious that many MUD users use the environment mainly to meet virtually with other users rather than to play games, new forms of MUDs and other types of emulated universes were developed and the term Virtual Environment (VE) was introduced to refer to all of them. Since their inception, VEs evolved in several interesting directions, including environments with new types of user interfaces, for example emulating visual aspects of physical reality via VRML and other means [8], and object-oriented environments known as MOOs (MUD object-oriented) allowing their users to extend the environment and communicate with it via a programming language [22]. As virtual environments became better known and more sophisticated, their user populations reached hundreds of thousands. At present, VEs are used for recreation, education [16], particularly distance education, and in work, particularly for collaboration among physically separated team members [6, 26, 36, 15, 45]. there is also a large and growing body of research on existing and potential VE uses, and several meetings similar to this workshop are held every year to address both the usage and the technical aspects of VEs. Collaborative work is, of course, an area of major interest to software developers and we will thus address this issue further.
