Short term power load sample is highly variable, and the influence factors are not determined, the data sample is little. In view of the characteristics of the load, we combine the Grey Theory and Elman neural network to predict the short-term power load. Because the gray neural network convergence is slow, We introduce the genetic algorithm to the gray Elman neural network optimization, and propose the genetic algorithm to optimize the gray Elman neural network algorithm, the genetic algorithm to optimize the gray Elman neural network algorithm is applied to short-term load forecast. Experimental results show that the prediction accuracy is improved. The algorithm achieves fast convergence, and it is feasible and effective.

Energy crisis is one of the major problems for the economic growth and development of Bangladesh. The gap between power supply and demand is increasing day after day. Moreover, most of the power plants are based on fossil fuel and have the risk of being phased out in future. This paper aims to solve these problems by balancing the power supply and demand in a smart environment, focusing mainly on distributed energy resources (DER). The main DER components of the system are power plants based on renewable energy sources (RES). Since RES are intermittent, back up from fossil fuel based plants are also integrated in the final model to increase the system reliability. During off-peak hours residual energy from RES will be stored in the proposed storage arrangement. The proactive consumers (prosumer) in the demand side will have the scope to sell this stored energy to the national grid during peak hours in a proposed smart bilateral network. Finally, grid monitoring and metering interface with an advanced control mechanism has been developed, which is expected to increase the flexibility of the prosumer to handle their energy usage and costs.

Among the major challenges in 3GPP LTE-A (3rd Generation Partnership Project Long Term Evaluation) and beyond networks are the convergence of services towards IP technology, the quality of service (QoS) and the maintenance of multimedia flows transmitted on wireless networking for mobile and heterogeneous users. In this environment, multimedia services must face various disadvantages generated by the unreliability of the wireless channel shared by several users. These new characteristics impose new requirements when designing wireless protocol, such as in LTE-A networks, where protocols must be dynamically adapted with the continuous changes of the radio operator state channel and seek at the same time to meet the QoS requirements with the supported applications. In this context, we will propose a new cross layer and performances optimization of the 3GPP LTE-A system. Our major contribution consists to set up coordinated interactions between high layers applications representing for example video streaming and those of low layers, such as network, MAC (Medium Access control) and physical layer. The information exchange between these layers will lead to optimize the application operation according to the changes observed on the radio operator channel. Thus, this solution would reduce the probabilities of the application dysfunction or interruption, while respecting the QoS constraints (time, throughput, PLR (Packet Loss Ratio) and maintain a constant flow for the user.

With the arrival of the era of big data, wind power forecasting data develops to the massive and multi-dimensional direction. Single computer lack of resources is difficult to solve the problem of wind power forecasting. In this paper, Spark cloud computing platform is introduced to solve the massive data problem that the traditional single machine can not deal with. The combination of BP neural network with the bacterial colony optimization algorithm can avoid the local optimum and improve the accuracy of forecasting results. In the experiment,the real data of a wind farm in Nei Mongol is used as the input data set and Spark cloud computing programming framework improve the parallel algorithm. The results show that the improved algorithm can increase the efficiency of prediction results about 10%.

There has been a decade of extensive research on application specific wireless sensor networks (WSNs). The recent development in communication network technologies makes it practical to realize a new WSN paradigm or controlling the control plane with the new group of by software defined networking (SDN) based on Openflow. The Openflow technology which is known for standardization and compatibility network Virtualization has brought a lot of innovative solutions in the field of research. In WSNs, sensor node are complex, highly dense and hence difficult to move. network topology fast changes with time by using routing protocol, network topology, load balancing, power optimization, security and other factors. In this paper, the concept of SDN in WNS is introduced where Openflow is the controller part of network.

Nowadays real-time traffic signal control is a crucial issue with potential benefits in the fields of traffic control, environmental pollution, and energy utilization. In the literature, few related studies have been done with dynamic evolutionary algorithms. In this paper, we proposed a strategy using Collaborative Evolutionary-Swarm optimization (CESO), which is able to track time-varying optimal solutions effectively. We use the simulator of urban mobility (SUMO), a popular traffic simulator to generate traffic flows. A grid traffic network is designed with several scenarios to simulate changes of traffic flows captured by traffic monitors. We test different traffic changes in the network using the proposed strategy and compare its performance with a traditional evolutionary algorithm. Experimental results show that our algorithm can obtain promising configuration of traffic light cycles and reduce the average delay time of all vehicles in various scenarios.

Ultrasonic Motors (USMs) are a kind of actuators with attractive features. Owing to the features, they are expected to be applied widely in industrial fields. Especially, since they work well in or near MRI environment, they are expected to play more important roles in medical and welfare area. In this research, for the control of USM, an intelligent PID control method using Neural network (NN) combined with type Particle Swarm optimization (PSO) is developed. In the method, the intelligent controller is designed based on variable gain type PID control using NN. The learning of the NN unit is implemented by the PSO. The PID gains are adjusted by the intelligent controller in real-time environment. The effectiveness of the method is confirmed by experiments.

This paper presents an effective methodology to optimally reconfigure an electrical distribution network. Selective Particle Swarm optimization (SPSO) algorithm is proposed to find the optimal combination of switches that results in a radial configuration with minimum system power loss. SPSO is a modified Binary Particle Swarm optimization (BPSO) with selective search space. Comparative analysis of SPSO with BPSO for network reconfiguration, under four different loading conditions, namely base, light, medium and heavy, on IEEE 69 bus system is presented to demonstrate the suitability of the proposed method. It is observed that SPSO outperforms BPSO in terms of quality of solution, voltage profile, convergence characteristics and time elapsed to complete optimization process.

In 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), enhancements of Diverse Data Applications (eDDA) work item has targeted at improving always-on connectivity for smartphones, identifying and specifying mechanisms at the Radio Access network (RAN) level to enhance the ability of 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) to handle diverse traffic profiles. The key aspects are the Radio Resource control (RRC) release timer for User Equipment (UE) state control between connected and idle modes, and Discontinuous Reception (DRX) targeted for minimizing the UE power consumption in connected state. There exist important tradeoffs between UE power consumption, Quality-of-Service and RAN/core network signalling load. What's more, these tradeoffs may be dependent on the UE mobility/velocity. In this article we study the effect of DRX and RRC release timer parameterization on UE mobility performance in heterogeneous networks. These results can be applied to parameter optimization of DRX and RRC release.
