In this paper, we improved the existing potential field based coverage-enhancing algorithm(PFCEA), presented a optimization of the virtual potential field based on coverage-enhancing algorithm for directional sensor networks(OPFCEA), we introducing a new-style virtual node to enhance the coverage of boundary region and a new-style control for the rotation angle. By these ways, we can improve network's performance. This algorithm enhanced the coverage ratio of the network, the simulation results show the effectiveness of the algorithm.

Management models enabling the coordination of Active Demand and new additional loads, such us plug-in electric vehicles, with the objective of supporting the network performance under the constraints of the grid security and quality of supply, are essential to make the distribution system capable to offer services for power system operation. In the paper, an intelligent and decentralized Multi-Agent System for handling electric vehicles charging control and Active Demand programs management in the LV distribution networks is proposed. The optimization algorithm proposed allows designing valid and effective demand response and electric vehicles charging system, able to analyse and meet the vehicle charging needs to contribute to the voltage control of the distribution network. Application examples are presented in order to illustrate the algorithm effectiveness.

This paper investigates the effect of wind power generation uncertainty on transmission expansion planning (TEP) problem. Cuckoo search algorithm (CSA) is used as the optimization tool to solve the TEP problem in a network with wind power plants. CSA is a metaheuristic technique to solve constrained optimization problems with a few control parameters. Garver test system, a well-known case study for TEP problems, is used to analyse the wind generation effect on transmission expansion planning and also to validate CSA for solving of TEP problems. A graph theory based method is also employed to detect the islanding condition of the network during optimization process. Results show that the wind generation intermittency can increase the investment cost of TEP. The results also validate CSA as a promising approach for solving of TEP problems.

In the network planning technique, period is determined by the critical path. Critical path is the most important activity set line of project, which must be given special attention in the control and be special guarantee in time and resources. Whether or not take into account the various factors to the duration and critical path, and dynamically manage and control the work, is the prerequisite that the project can realize the benefit, but also a challenge in data modeling. The improvement and optimization of Floyd algorithm, namely the algorithm for the shortest path, which take all the factors into account through establishing a dynamic mathematic model. This model will self correct according to the progress of the project, to do at the time of the maximum degree to the actual data, with the budget data, thus the model itself to maximize meet the specific project itself. In this paper, we present an effective approach for anomaly detection in network traffic. We investigate the long-range dependence (Lrd) behavior of decomposed network traffic subgroups in different directions with respect the enterprise network. If the network traffic exhibits Lrd behavior during normal conditions, then deviation from this property can indicate an abnormality in the traffic. We analyze and evaluate recent Internet traffic captured at King Saud University (KSU). The results and analysis of the proposed approach show that the presence of short duration anomalies affect the Lrd behavior of certain traffic subgroups, namely the subgroups in the control plane traffic while the aggregated whole traffic still exhibits Lrd. These results show how this approach significantly reduces the amount of traffic to analyze, and more importantly it can detect abnormal behavior that is not detected when looking the traffic as a whole.

Wireless Sensor networks have several applications such as medical monitoring, automotive safety, and many more. Sensor networks, however, have several limitations, such as vulnerability, short transmission range, small memory, and limited battery life. Several algorithms were proposed to address network lifetime problem in wireless sensor networks. Geographic distribution and density of nodes dramatically affect the choice of protocol, nodes life, and the suitability of the method. Sensor networks are effectively used for vehicular monitoring on highways and hence form a linear topology. Therefore, existing clustering methods and routing protocols are not effective when applied on a network of linear topology. In this paper, we introduce a new method to enhance the lifetime and performance of a homogenous wireless sensor network with linear topology that is dedicated for vehicular monitoring. The experimental results show the effectiveness of the method by enhancing the lifetime of the wireless sensor network compared to direct transmission and clustering methods.
