Directed Acyclic Graph （DAG） is a nature way of workflow description. One of the most important and challenging problems in the DAG workflow field is the QoS-constrained scheduling problem with the aim to minimize the cost. This paper proposes a new algorithm to tackle this problem. The algorithm proposed is based on tabu search and make some improvements. Subject to the deadline of the workflow, this algorithm has a lower execution cost than other existing algorithms. Simulation results prove the effectiveness and feasibility of the algorithm.

The networked control system(NCS) is introduced to model the real-time control of reactive power optimization (RPO).The effect of network packet dropout on the RPO results is grouped and *** improved method of RPO based on NCS with data packet dropout in the forward channel is *** deal with the packet dropout,the RPO method is improved by a redundancy-removal and maintaining processing, while utilizing the temporal history of uncontrollable variables in the forward *** implementation of the new method is *** simulations on the IEEE57 test system with the genetic algorithm show that,when there are uncontrollable variables of data packet dropout in the forward channel,the proposed method guarantees close approximation of the optimal system state with faster optimization speed.

This paper is trying to settle the relatively high voltage problem caused by embedded small hydropower by presenting an optimal voltage control model,which is based on power dispatch and electricity price compensation *** of all,electricity price compensation strategy was put to use in order to prevent profits of small hydropower owners from ***,hourly net income growth of power bureau by power dispatch is defined as ΔP,and the optimal objective is to maximize *** with power flow constraints,price compensation strategy,voltage constraints,etc.,the optimal voltage model is *** solving the model,the optimal small hydropower outputs were *** the simulation of the typical PG&E 33 nodes distribution network,particle swarm optimization algorithm was put in use to solve the model and finally the optimal solution was got,proving that the model is practical to most distribution networks including large number of small hydro *** optimization,premise of neither side’s benefits was reduced,the voltages were working in the proper range,power loss decreased,and power that uploads to the upper grid was also diminished.

Real-time traffic assignment for route guidance is put under the framework of model predictive control, which optimizes the routes based on the real-time feedback and prediction information of road network. In this framework, particle filter is utilized to estimate the statistic distribution of traffic flow of links without detection sensors based on the position and speed information of navigated vehicles on those links and the prior information of traffic flow of links with detection sensors. The chance constrains and Bayes-based route prediction are incorporated into the optimization model so that the stochastic characteristics of traffic needs, propagation and driver’s decision-making behavior can be compensated in the route optimization. To check the chance constraints, the min-max characteristic points are used to fit the curve of stochastic traffic propagation process with stochastic needs to avoid the exponential increase of combination calculation. The genetic algorithm is utilized for the optimization with feasible-direction-search crossover and mutation to improve the evolution efficiency, combined with the traffic simulation in the mean sense with the compensation of stochastic parts of traffic flow data to evaluate the performance of real-time traffic assignment. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of traffic navigation predictive control.

Probabilistic Analysis of Hierarchical Cluster Protocols for Wireless Sensor networks

Wireless sensor networks are designed to extract data from the deployment environment and combine sensing, data processing and wireless communication to provide useful information for the network users. Hundreds or thousands of small embedded units, which operate under low-energy supply and with limited access to central network control, rely on interconnecting protocols to coordinate data aggregation and transmission. Energy efficiency is crucial and it has been proposed that cluster based and distributed architectures such as LEACH are particularly suitable. We analyse the random cluster hierarchy in tins protocol and provide a solution for low-energy and limited-loss optimization. Moreover, we extend these results to a multi-level version of LEACH, where clusters of nodes again self-organize to form clusters of clusters, and so on.

There are moves in the Internet architecture community to add multipath capabilities to TCP, so that end-systems will be able to shift their traffic away from congested parts of the network. We study two problems relating to the design of multipath TCP. (i) We investigate stochastic packet-level behaviour of some proposed multipath congestion control algorithms, and find that they do not behave how we might expect from fluid modeling: they tend to flap randomly between their available paths. We explain why, and propose a congestion control algorithm that does not flap. (ii) We consider how the path choice offered by the network affects the ability of end-systems to shift their traffic between a pool of resources. We define a 'resource poolability' metric, which measures for each resource how easy it is for traffic to be shifted away from that resource e.g. in the event of a traffic surge or link failure.

The sensitivity of mobile terminals to energy and power limitations keeps posing challenges to wireless technology. The ratio between the useful signal's power and that of noise and interferences has a crucial impact on the achievable throughputs and on outage aspects, little has been done concerning another central challenge that limited energy poses: that of limitation on battery life. In this paper we study power control in a way that combines the two aforementioned aspects. We propose a modeling approach which extends the Anonymous Sequential Came framework introduced in 1988 by Jovanovic and Rosenthal. The approach is designed for systems that have a very large number of interacting decision makers, so large that they can be modeled as a continuum of players. We introduce an appropriate equilibrium concept for this game (which extends the Wardrop equilibrium by including random individual states with controlled transitions), characterize the structure of the equilibrium policies and provide two efficient equilibrium computation procedures.

AP placement is a vital design issue for deploying an 802.11 Wireless Local Area networks system. In this paper, a comprehensive solution including modeling of WLAN and optimization of coverage rate is presented to enhance economy, practicability and adaptability of WLAN system. A novel matrix model of WLAN system (MMWS) is established by mapping a power matrix to a corresponding effective coverage element (ECE) matrix in a target area. Providing that transmitting power and user demands are given, a optimization algorithm comprising some adapted GA operators is proposed to deploy the logical Access Points (APs) for obtaining maximized coverage rate (CR). Meanwhile, a new fitness function is provided to assess the network coverage and improve the crossover/mutation operations. By experiments on synthetical data, performance of our method is evaluated and analyzed in detail. The results indicate that the effective CR of a target area obtained by the proposed method has exceeded 95%, and the co-channel interference has been avoided to the utmost extent. It is evident that the proposed solution is practical to optimize the CR of WLANs.

We analyze the interplay between the demand for downloads, choice of congestion control mechanism, and tariff structure at a single link, when users have preferences in terms of average download delay and they are charged according to the number of ECN marked packets they receive. Our model involves a timescale separation approach, where in the fast timescales active flows compete for instantaneous bandwidth share by optimally tuning congestion control parameters in a noncooperative fashion. This is modeled by letting flows choose utility functions within the network utility maximization framework laid down by Kelly [1]. On a slower timescale, users selfishly change their otherwise unrestricted demand for downloads based on the average experienced download delay and charges incurred. We study the equilibrium of this loop of interactions from the point of view of social welfare. For homogeneous users we find that optimal equilibria are induced when they choose among linear utility functions, while this is not the case for logarithmic, i.e., proportionally fair congestion controllers. We next consider two types of users, web-browsing and bittorrent, where the latter are much less sensitive to download delay than the former. If bittorrent users respond to congestion according to proportionally fair utility functions the charge induced by ECN marked packets does not provide the correct signal for service differentiation and the resulting equilibrium is suboptimal. On the other hand, if flows are charged for the volume of bits they transfer as well, then social welfare maximum is attained for some price per bit. This reveals a new role for bit volume pricing: to provide bittorrent users the correct incentives for choosing congestion controllers that effectively give priority to web-browsing users.
