The aim of this work is to develop a control strategy for human-robot collaborative manipulation that can deal with the large amount of sensor data of an artificial skin. This artificial skin contains 373 interconnected cells of which proximity information is used. The robot and the operator accomplish an industrial task while interacting in a shared work space. The robot controller detects and avoids collisions based on the information from the artificial skin. To decrease the amount of data, a discrete optimization algorithm selects up to a specified number of cells based on the signal intensity and the spatial distribution of the activated cells. The robotic task is specified using eTaSL (expression graph specification language) which provides reactive control using a constraint based optimization approach. Conflicting constraints can be handled by prioritizing in hard and soft constraints or by weighing the different constraints. Weak soft constraints (low weight) are specified to command the robot to move along a nominal path with constant velocity. Stronger soft constraints (higher weight) prevent collisions by means either of moving the end effector backwards along the path or circumventing an obstacle. The proposed approach is validated experimentally.

The increasing number of IoT devices is prompting the need to investigate digital forensic techniques that can be efficiently applied to solve computer-related crimes involving IoT devices. In digital forensics, it is common for forensic investigators to consider computing hardware and operating systems for forensic data acquisition. However, applying current forensic data acquisition techniques for further digital evidence analysis may not be applicable to some IoT devices. It is becoming increasingly challenging to determine what type of data should be collected from IoT devices and how traces from such devices can be leveraged by forensic investigators. In this paper, we introduce a fog-based IoT forensic framework (FoBI) that attempts to address the key challenges associated with digital IoT forensics. Throughout this paper, we discuss the overall architecture, use cases and implementation details of FoBI. We further use our FoBI framework to provide insights on improving the digital forensics processes involving IoT systems.

In this paper, summarizing the problems in the operation and maintenance, and based on data syncretism, research which is on the outdoor installation protection of multi-source perception and intelligent diagnosis technology, designs an outdoor installation protection perception and operational maintenance platform that highly integrated protection on-line monitoring and diagnosis, protection information sub-station, power system dynamic recording equipment and network message recording and analysis device as one system, and expounds in detail the system architecture of the platform, software framework, realization principle and key technology. The platform through the multi-source data acquisition, and the data sharing between each module and system integration, implements the outdoor installation protection multi-source perception and intelligent diagnosis, improving the efficiency and convenience of field operation and maintenance work, for outdoor installation protection of the safe and stable operation is of great significance. The platform has been successfully carried out in substation pilot application, achieving good results.

The amount of information needed to acquire knowledge on today's acquisition systems is growing exponentially due to more complex, higher resolution, software-intensive acquisition systems that need to operate in System-of-systems (SoS), Family-of-systems (FoS), Joint, and Coalition environments. Unfortunately, the tools and methods necessary to rapidly collect, aggregate, and analyze this information have not evolved as a whole in conjunction with this increased system complexity and, therefore, has made analysis and evaluation increasingly deficient and ineffective. The Test Resource Management Center's (TRMC's) vision is to build a DoD test and evaluation (T&E) knowledge management (KM) and analysis capability that leverages commercial big data analysis and cloud computing technologies to improve evaluation quality and reduce decision-making time. An evaluation revolution, starting with the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) program, is underway to ensure the T&E community can support the demands of next-generation weapon systems. The true product of T&E is knowledge ascertained through the collection of information about a system or item under test. However, the T&E community's ability to provide this knowledge is hampered by more complex systems, more complex environments, and the need to be more agile in support of strategic initiatives, such as agile acquisition and the 3rd Offset Strategy. This increased complexity and need for speed cause delayed analysis and problems that go undetected during T&E. The primary reason for these shortfalls is antiquated tools and processes that make data hard to locate, aggregate, and convert into knowledge. In short, DoD has not evolved its evaluation infrastructure as its weapon systems have evolved. In this paper we present the experimental implementation of dynamic spectrum access (DSA) algorithm using universal software radio peripheral (USRP) and GNU Radio. The setup contains two primary users and two cognitive radios or secondary users. One primary user is fixed and the other is allowed to change its position randomly. Depending upon the position of the primary user the cognitive user will use the spectrum band where the detected energy is below certain predefined threshold level. The cognitive radio users are also programmed to operate independently without interfering with each other using energy detection algorithm for spectrum sensing. The modulation scheme is set to GMSK for secondary user performing data transmission. This experimental setup is used to analyze the quality of video transmission using DSA which provides the insight regarding the possibility of using free spectrum space to improve the performance of the system and its advantage over a non-DSA system. From the experiment it is shown that under congestion and interference DSA perform better than a non-DSA system.

MTCA control and data acquisition platform for Plasma Diagnostics

The advanced Telecommunications computing Architecture (ATCA) instrumentation platform for fusion control and diagnostics developed at IST, is being extended with a Micro Telecommunications computing Architecture (MTCA) control and data acquisition platform, still able to maintain performance characteristics in speed, channel density and availability of ATCA, at a cost suitable for smaller systems. Software and firmware have been ported to MTCA using mostly in-house developed hardware, preserving many of ATCA's benefits in performance in a smaller form-factor. The first instance of the proposed platform comprises a MTCA 1U shelf with 6 advanced Mezzanine Card (AMC) slots, MTCA Carrier Hub (MCH) module, AMC to Field-programmable Gate Array (FPGA) Mezzanine Card (FMC) carrier modules, 500 MSPS to 2 GSPS ADC FMC modules, timing and synchronization input/output (IO) module, or other Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) modules. data is handled by the MCH, featuring PCIe Gen 3 switching to a host computer, as well as performing clock distribution and intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) based hardware management for high availability. This compact, flexible and autonomous or scalable platform may either integrate a large-experiment system infrastructure, as well as being configured as a lower-cost, self-contained platform for smaller experiments or development and testbench purposes. The focus of this paper is the development of the MCH MTCA.0 module, which is key to introduce the platform architecture.

With the gradual extension of artificial intelligence applications in terminal equipment, intelligent terminals based on edge computing are also widely used in power systems. The new embedded terminal device with local decision function can process the collected raw data locally and only report the key information, which can reduces the requirement of network bandwidth, so makes the wireless transmission meet the needs of more business scenarios. In order to collect a large number of terminal data in time, traditional substations need high network bandwidth. The data can only be transmitted over wire. The data in new transformer substation with intelligent terminal can be aggregated by wireless transmission. But the data security of wireless networks such as ieee802.11ah, LoRa , NBIoT and WiFi cannot be guaranteed. At the same time, with the needs of social development, data security has risen to the height of national security. In order to realize the "security and controllability" of information systems, China Cryptographic Administration has published a series of encryption and decryption algorithms such as SM2, SM3, SM4. In this paper, based on the ieee802.11ah standard, we study the application of SM2, SM3 and SM4 in LAN of transformer substation, and mainly focus on the identity authentication, key distribution and data encryption and decryption. In view of the three different stages, the system scheme designs are proposed respectively, and then we analyze their security and the additional system overhead in detail. The research of the SM2, SM3 and SM4 algorithms in LAN of transformer substation will further promote the popularization and application of intelligent terminal in substaion, and this will also ehance the level of intelligence of substation.

Independent on the industry, todays technical systems produce rich amounts of data. Cars, manufacturing equipment, and fridges have one thing in common: Repairing equipment after it broke causes additional costs due to, e.g., unplanned downtime, affects the products' customer image negatively and can even cause safety critical consequences (e.g., braking systems). Therefore, a strong need for prognostics that allows for replacing a component prior to breakdown is crucial. This inherently requires to estimate the remaining useful lifetime (RUL) of critical objects. Plenty of research has been conducted, trying to predict the RUL. However, most existing approaches share the following caveats: First, they are built and optimized for a particular problem (an therefore tend to over fit). Second, they are often based on proprietary software or closed source, preventing other researchers to use the algorithms out of the box. In this article, we compare four different algorithms on a variety of datasets: A 'naive' classifier that serves as a baseline, an algorithm that scored first on the most cited RUL prediction datasets, and two novel approaches. The first being 'bucketed random forest' which is able to predict the RUL accurately while requiring low computational effort once trained. Second, a downward scalable similarity-based approach, yielding comparably results while being very lightweight, which positively influences the testing time and model size. All algorithms in this article are open source and evaluated for general validity on a variety of different datasets. © 2018 ieee.
