Process controls (basic as well as advanced) are implemented within the process control system, which may mean a distributed control system (DCS), programmable logic controller (PLC), and/or a supervisory control computer. DCSs and PLCs are typically industrially hardened and fault-Tolerant. Supervisory control computers are often not hardened or fault-Tolerant, but they bring a higher level of computational capability to the control system, to host valuable, but not critical, advanced control applications. advanced controls may reside in either the DCS or the supervisory computer, depending on the application. Basic controls reside in the DCS and its subsystems, including PLCs. Because we usually deal with real-world systems with real-world constraints (cost, computer resources, size, weight, power, heat dissipation, etc.), it is understood that the simplest method to accomplish a task is the one that should be used. Experts usually rely on common sense when they solve problems. They also use vague and ambiguous terms. Other experts have no difficulties with understanding and interpreting this statement because they have the background to hearing problems described like this. However, a knowledge engineer would have difficulties providing a computer with the same level of understanding. In a complex industrial process, how can we represent expert knowledge that uses vague and fuzzy terms in a computer to control it? In this context, the application is developed to control the pretreatment and pasteurization station of milk localized in Batna (Algeria) by adopting a control approach based on expert knowledge and fuzzy logic. © 2018 ieee.

Millions of people suffer from some way of sleep disorder. As a result, their quality of sleep decreases dramatically affecting not only their sleep but also the quality of their day to day life. Waiting lists for receiving a professional diagnose can be very long leaving the patient unable to take precautions to improve their sleep quality. In this paper, we propose an IoT-based sleep quality monitoring pillow that tracks temperature, humidity, luminosity, sound, and vibration. The pillow is able to forward the gathered information to a server through a wireless router with a static NAT configuration. Subsequently, user and medical staff can obtain the information and determine their quality of sleep. Furthermore, they are able to change the actions performed by the AAL system and the respective thresholds of the cushion. Architecture and algorithm of the system list circumstances that can reduce sleep quality and the actions intelligent devices perform to improve the sleep quality of the user. The paper shows the code for data acquisition and pertinent calibration of all sensors.

The joint anti-accident exercises between multilevel dispatching and control systems are using dispatcher training simulator (DTS). There are many problems with the existing DTS, such as communication difficulties, extraterritorial role simulation difficulties, uniformity of the training process, thus trainees cannot conduct self-training. This paper introduces non-player character (NPC) simulation technology into DTS to customize and intelligentize the training process. This paper firstly fused the NPC features of the game with the DTS system and established NPC model and behavior tree in DTS. Then simulation is conducted in behaviac software to realize the autonomous guidance and intelligent control of the simulation training process. The feasibility and effectiveness of NPC application in DTS are verified by comparison with the traditional DTS training process.

In recent years, as the consumption rate of renewable energy has increased, the impact of renewable energy on the power grid has also increased. Currently, distribution network system operators and transmission line system operators are unable to acquire and control the operational status of renewable energy sources such as wind power photovoltaics. These phenomena pose a significant challenge to the safety and stability of the operation of the power system. The virtual power plant is a feasible solution, based on the data acquisition terminal of advanced communication technology, decentralized control or centralized control of DER. Based on the virtual power plant, this paper aggregates three types of resources, wind power, photovoltaic, and electric vehicles, which are typical on the supply side and the demand side. Then, the virtual power plant is regarded as a whole to accept the dispatching instructions of the power grid, formulate the operational strategy of the internal resources of the virtual power plant, and participate in the peaking service.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are becoming an important tool for facilities monitoring, target tracking, surveillance, etc. In many of these contexts, a UAV needs to reach an area of interest (AOI) while streaming data to a ground station (GS) where one or more drones are controlled by an operator. In remote areas, intermediate UAVs can act as relays and form a line network to extend range. Interactive control requires a live video stream where both throughput and delay are important, which limits the number of relays and thus maximum range. However, throughput also depends on the quality of the links. It is known that in open space scenarios, where links can be considered similar, maximum throughput is achieved with equal spacing of the relays. This is not the case near large obstacles or high interference areas, in which links can be rather asymmetric. In this paper, we address this scenario and show that maximum throughput is achieved with uneven relay spacing but balanced packet delivery ratios. We propose a new distributed protocol fit to high throughput streams on line networks that tracks and balances the quality of neighboring links by moving the relay nodes accordingly. Real world experiments with multiple *** 2.0 UAVs show that variable link length in a scenario with asymmetric links generates gains in packet delivery up to 40% and throughput up to 300%.

Over the past decades, intelligent Transportation systems (ITS) have developed and deployed in order to improve transportation safety and mobility, reduces environmental impact, promotes sustainable transportation development and enhances productivity. ITS combines high technology and improvements in information systems, communication, sensors, controllers and advanced mathematical methods with the conventional world of transportation infrastructure. As an interdisciplinary research field, it is difficult to have a clear picture about the whole system for a novice researcher. This paper 1) proposes an ITS architecture, which is based on the requirement and technology at the present stage;2) sort out the bottleneck issue that lie behind intelligent transportation research;3) explores the future prospect of the ITS and research focus as new technologies become available.

With the rapid development of the smart driving technology, the security of core smart driving algorithms is becoming more and more important. This paper illustrates the architecture of the smart driving system, analyzes the core algorithms in the smart driving system, and selects the representative local path planning and obstacle detection algorithms. By studying the local path planning algorithm based on the artificial potential field method and obstacle detection algorithm based on the V-parallax method, it analyzes the failure conditions of local path planning and obstacle detection algorithms of the smart driving system, and proposes that when the vehicle falls into the local minimum point of the potential field and when the obstacle detection algorithm is affected by the noise and threshold or there is a slight parallax change in the same obstacle, these two algorithms will lose effect, leading to misjudgment by the smart driving system. This study will lay a foundation to improve the security of the smart driving system. © 2018 ieee.
