Nowadays there is a big interest in applying natural gesture communication language to various systems. There are several techniques on how to detect willed hand motion or recognize gestures by using different kind of sensors. RGB cameras can be used to detect hand, but it has a limited application. For example, hand detection can be particularly hard in some lighting conditions or in different skin colors. Using depth camera data, it is possible to distinguish object in front of camera in a better way. In this paper, we present a technique to detect active user and his hand gesture using both RGB and depth data. The approach firstly detects the user's face, mapping it to depth map data and finally uses the region from camera to person for human arm detection and hand palm recognition.

The excessive control signaling in Long Term Evolution networks required for dynamic scheduling impedes the deployment of ultra-reliable low latency applications. Semi-persistent scheduling was originally designed for constant bit-rate voice applications, however, very low control overhead makes it a potential latency reduction technique in Long Term Evolution. In this paper, we investigate resource scheduling in narrowband fourth generation Long Term Evolution networks through Network Simulator (NS3) simulations. The current release of NS3 does not include a semi-persistent scheduler for Long Term Evolution module. Therefore, we developed the semi-persistent scheduling feature in NS3 to evaluate and compare the performance in terms of uplink latency. We evaluate dynamic scheduling and semi-persistent scheduling in order to analyze the impact of resource scheduling methods on up-link latency.

The paper presents a framework for model-based testing of automotive distributed system and a method of automatic assignment of testing priorities used within the framework. The proposed method utilizes classifiers for automatic assignment of testing priorities to specific parts of the tested system. The paper also introduces a set of extraneous data accompanying the modeling language that are exploited by the proposed method during the classification process. It is shown, that advantages of the presented approach, such as lower requirements for the testing operators' knowledge, are valuable for the automotive distributed systems testing process.

Model oriented testing methods are known relatively long time, but the right time for viable deployment is coming up now with the continuously growing amount of vehicle electronic systems. Paper proposes a new Model-Based Testing approach to testing of automotive electronics systems. The key concept is the utilization of Timed Automata for online testing of automotive electronic control units. System modeling, the new tool, a bit of necessary technology and preliminary results intended to identify future research goal are presented.

To increase the security of intrusion detection system, generalized structure of highly performance adaptive system for cyber attacks detection was developed. To improve its robustness, methods of artificial intelligence were proposed. Neural immune detectors were used as the main tool for identifying cyber attacks. These detectors for cyber attacks identification and classification and other vulnerable subsystems were implemented in programmable logic arrays. To provide high performance, the Mamdani fuzzy inference rules were used and relevant subsystem structures were developed.

The use of wireless technologies and low-capacity devices is now inevitable in smart spaces development for Internet of Things (IoT). A smart space is created by deploying a Semantic Information Broker (SIB) on a host device. This paper examines the applicability of a wireless router for being a SIB host device and creating a smart space in the IoT environment. CuteSIB is one of SIB implementations in the Smart-M3 platform and the focus is on Qt-based devices. We provide a technique for creating an OpenWrt-based embedded system composed of CuteSIB software components for a smart spaces deployment using a cross-compiling method. The resulting embedded system is used to deploy the SmartRoom system-a Smart-M3-based application that creates a virtual shared workspace in a multimedia equipped room to support collaborative activity of participants. Our experiments confirm that capacity of a wireless router is satisfactory for deployment of this class of Smart-M3 applications.

Smart space is created by deploying a Semantic Information Broker (SIB) in a given Internet of Things (IoT) environment. The deployed SIB enables information sharing for many digital devices participating in the IoT environment. In this study, we consider CuteSIB-a new SIB implementation for the Smart-M3 platform, where the class of SIB host devices covers various embedded and mobile devices, in addition to such traditional Internet participants as laptop, desktop, and server computers. Our simulation study focuses on performance evaluation of the CuteSIB operation with a multitude of devices that simultaneously produce data, process information, and deliver services. Our experiments apply a scalability model of a Smart-M3 application with the three functional groups of participating devices: sensors, reasoners, and mobile clients. In the experiments, the number of devices is varied in each group as well as the interaction parameters. The evaluation shows the scalability level that CuteSIB can achieve being deployed in an IoT environment of restricted capacity.

Pakistani construction industry is flourishing rapidly in terms of infrastructure development due to large investment in this sector for past few years. However, construction delays are of major concern to project managers working in construction industry which leads to poor project performance or failure of the project. These delays are caused due to various external and internal factors. Risks involved on projects are one of major factors that results in project delays which affects all the stakeholders. This research contributes towards identification of critical risk factors causing delays in the construction projects being implemented in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Detailed literature review and interviews with experts from construction industry were conducted, on the basis of which a total of 29 risks from 5 major categories (financial, technical, design, labor and external risks) were identified. To find out the relationship between these risk factors and project delay, a quantitative questionnaire survey was conducted. data were analyzed using SPSS and RII (Relative Importance Index). Risks categories were ranked using RII to identify most important risks that cause project delay and mitigated them as early as possible. A a result of this survey design risks were ranked first, external risks at second, technical and labor risks were ranked third while financial risks were ranked forth. Recommendations were made considering the study findings.

The approach to the integration of applications based on mathematical logic and artificial intelligence for World data Center (WDC) interdisciplinary scientific investigations has been developed in the article. Key elements of the approach are a multilevel system architecture, a formal logical system, implementation based on the interaction of intelligent agents. The formal logical system has been proposed. The inference method and solution tree recovery mechanism have been elaborated. The implementation of application integration for interdisciplinary scientific research has been based on a stack of modern protocols, enabling communication of business processes over the transport layer of the OSI model. Application integration is also based on coordinated models of business processes, for which an integrated set of business applications have been designed and realized.

This study aims to explore and identify effective communication practices influencing performance of international development projects in Pakistan and also illustrates important project complexity elements which moderates the relationship between effective communication and project performance. After detailed literature review and conducting 9 expert interviews from project managers, project coordinators and communication coordinators working on international development projects, we identified 4 key communication practices which should be adopted by project professionals working on such projects. These practices involved (i) Quality of communication, (ii) Frequency of communication, (iii) Communication formality (iv) Communication bi-directionality. Task complexity is taken as moderator between communication and performance relationship. A survey was conducted to find the impact of communication practices and moderating impact of project complexity on project performance. Questionnaires were sent to 60 international organizations working on such projects. The results of the study showed that these practices have significant and positive impact on project performance;project complexity has a minimal impact on the communication and performance relationship. Recommendations were made on the basis of the results of the study.
