The accuracy of the neural networks can usually be improved by increasing the size of the dataset and the layers or operators of the network, as it has strong composability. But, it makes a challenge to train these models efficiently, due to the limited resources of a single device, such as memory, computational resource and so on. For this challenge, it has become an inevitable trend to automatically implement model parallelism across multiple devices. This paper proposes Aware, an adaptive distributed parallel training method, to search distributed parallel strategy automatically for deep learning model. It firstly proposes an operator fusion strategy with computation and communication awareness to simplify the computational graph of deep learning model. And then, it introduces position-aware graph embedding algorithm to extract the structural features of models, which can make the searched parallel strategies to transplant to other networks with similar structures. On this basis, we use reinforcement learning algorithm to search distributed parallel strategy automatically. This paper makes experiments with neural networks such as Inception V3, NMT, GNM, NasNet and ResNet, and uses CIFAR10 and PTB datasets to compare the two methods of Hierarchical and Placeto. The results show that compared with Placeto, Aware achieves up to 5% reductions in runtime. Aware achieves more than 8% reductions in runtime compared with Hierarchical. Moreover, it has better transplantation and generalization capabilities, and supports pre-training for large-scale network parallel strategy search and accelerates convergence.

An energy-efficient model for the sensor cloud is proposed by using inter-sensor owners based on multi-hop routing. End users want to acquire the sensor data, which passes through the cloud to reach the required sensor that contains the data. Traditionally routing of traffic takes place within the sensor nodes present within an owner. As in the traditional approach, the distance between the sensors is more as routing occurs within one sensor owner. As a result, energy consumption is more. Our approach is useful when more than one sensor owners deploy their sensors in the same area. In our proposed method, the inter sensor owner routing saves energy as the distance between the sensors decreases. Our approach's simulation shows that the inter sensor owners routing save energy compared to the intra-sensor owner routing. © 2020 ieee.

Rehabilitation robotics is one of the major subfields in robotics that is growing rapidly. Neurological disorders, such as stroke, reduce the strength of muscles and the sensation of limbs of a stroke survivor. Soft haptics can be utilized to develop highly compliant soft biofeedback systems that comprise of soft sensors and actuators. Soft sensors are adaptable, conformal and safe for use in devices involving human-machine interaction. This study presents a soft 3D printed resistive force sensor that can be directly manufactured using a low-cost and open-source fused deposition modeling (FDM) 3D printer that uses a commercially available conductive thermoplastic poly(urethane) (TPU). Finite element modeling (FEM) is used to predict accurately the behavior of a single soft resistive sensor under applied mechanical loads. The electrical and mechanical characterization results of the sensor correlate the numerical results with reasonable accuracy. Under an applied mechanical deformation, there is a linear relationship between the output resistance of the sensor and the force generated. This soft force sensor can be tailored to biofeedback systems where it can be implemented and customized using 3D printing.

In Wireless sensor Network (WSN) applications location information of the node is a critical issue. Node location estimation algorithms are developed using radio frequency characteristics such as Received signal strength (RSSI), Direction of Arrival (DOA) or Angle of arrival (AOA), Time of Arrival (TOA) and Time difference of arrival (TDOA), for position estimation application of sensor node in a WSN environment. Although RSSI based location estimation is less complex, the DoA measurement has also gained popularity in WSN applications. In this article, a focused survey of various techniques used to measure Direction of Arrival based on the antenna array geometry like Uniform Linear Array (ULA) and Uniform Circular Array(UCA). © 2020 ieee.

This paper comes up with a distributed consensus tracking control strategy for second-order agents with input saturation in the presence of nonlinear model uncertainties. The control protocol is composed of two parts: a nearest- neighbor rule based adaptive controller to conduct the convergence with smooth motion paths, and a neural network (NN) term to compensate the nonlinear components in the agent's dynamics. Additionally, actuator saturation is considered and applied by adding saturation functions in each component of the control input which is finally limited to a measurable value. Efforts are made to provide that the input saturation does not affect the achievement of the consensus tracking based on the Lyapunov stability theories. Simulation results show that , under the proposed control law with input saturation, the tracking errors converge to zero, and the NN estimation errors are uniformly ultimately bounded. © 2020 ieee.

This paper proposes a novel CPU based architecture for an integrated optical sensor used in smartphones. An integrated optical sensor consisting of an ambient light sensor and a proximity sensor is designed using the proposed CPU based architecture. The paper also compares the architectural and performance difference between an existing Finite State Machine (FSM) based optical sensor, and the proposed CPU based optical sensor. In the first phase of the research work, the existing FSM based optical sensor architecture is studied. The area, power consumption, hardware flexibility and performance of the FSM based architecture is analyzed. Then, CPU based architecture is defined. The ARM CORTEX M0+ processor is used as the CPU and the AMBA AHB-lite bus protocol is used to connect the processor to the peripherals. In the second phase of the research work, different digital blocks are designed and are interfaced with the processor. The proposed architecture is then synthesized and the experimental results are analyzed. © 2020 ieee.

The development of compliant robotic manipulators which can show length change, compliance and dexterity could assist many challenging applications. Potential applications range from dexterous manipulation, robotic surgery or exploration of challenging environments. Despite significant developments in both fabrication and control approaches for continuum body manipulators, there have been few demonstrations of continuum body systems which display all these properties. We present a method for fabricating a continuum manipulation which shows extension, high force movements and a range of dexterous position. This approach uses 3D printing to create a flexible rack and pinion system. These high torque mechanisms are mounted at points along the 3D printed tracks to allow complex shape control of the continuum system. A controller has been also been developed based on a Piecewise Constant Curvature approximation to allow the position of the tip of the manipulator to be controlled, and motion paths to be followed. In this work, we show the force capabilities of this manipulator and demonstrate how multiple segments can be created for more complex movements.

Nowadays, Security is the biggest challenge in communication networks. Well defined security protocols not only solve the privacy and security issues but also help to reduce the implementation cost and simplify network's operation. Network society demands more reliable and secure network services as well as infrastructure. In communication networks, data theft, hacking, fraud, cyber warfare are serious security threats. Security as defined by experts is confirming protected communication amongst communication/computing systems and consumer applications in private and public networks, it is important for promising privacy, confidentiality, and protection of information. This paper highlights the security related issues and challenges in communication networks. We also present the holistic view for the underlaying physical layer including physical infrastructure attacks, jamming, interception, and eavesdropping. This research focused on improving the security measures and protocols in different communication networks. © 2020 ieee.

Public attention is an important indicator for understanding public opinion. Its spatial-temporal characteristics and influencing factors are rarely discussed. Based on it, this paper takes Baidu index as the measurement index of public attention, and analyzes the spatial-temporal characteristics and influencing factors of public attention to 5G (the fifth-generation wireless systems) from 2011 to 2021 by using elasticity coefficient, Gini coefficient, geographical concentration index, and correlation coefficient. The study found that: 1) The seasonal difference of 5G public attention is obvious, and the attention in summer and winter is higher. 2) The public attention of 5G is unevenly distributed, with the highest in the eastern region and the lower in the western region. 3) There are obvious differences in public attention between provinces and regions. 4) Public attention to 5G is affected by the level of economic development, the size of Internet users, educational level, and media attention.

Wireless sensor Networks (WSNs) is a collection of small nodes which are used to sense physical environmental conditions like temperature, pressure, sound, motion. sensor nodes are deployed to carry out various applications such as disaster recovery, industrial control, health monitoring, environmental monitoring. However, least work has been done in the school environment application. Therefore, in this research work, a smart system has been developed that replace the traditional methods of administrating the University with more sustainable and eco-friendly solutions. WSN is used to record the student's attendance and to track their entry and exit in the classroom. WSN incorporated with the student id card and to check the appropriateness an online survey system has been conducted in AMA University. Incorporation of WSN with Student id card will be benefitted to record student attendance, in the certificate of registration, to avoid examination clashes, replaces exam permit, student health care and eliminating library sign in and out.
