The wireless sensor network (WSN) as a supporting monitoring system requires stable conditions. The clustering mechanism in wireless sensor networks has been implemented to reduce energy waste. Therefore, maintaining energy in a balanced cluster head is very important. Logically, the distance between the cluster member nodes and the cluster head, and the distance of the head to sink node can affect the stability of the network while it is related to energy resources. To maintain a balanced environment, head cluster energy configuration management is a priority. One effective way to extend network life is to maintain energy balance. The main objective of this paper is to optimize the sensor network by modifying the distributed Energy Efficient Clustering (DEEC) protocol using the Game Theory algorithm. Here, game theory has been introduced into the solution of problems by finding threshold values. Nash Equilibrium, a concept of game theory is used to have a correlation between energy variables, and non-cooperative behaviour as a character of game theory. In this work, DEEC protocol- A heterogeneous cluster protocol-has been modified in terms of threshold factors to improve the performance of wireless sensor networks. The threshold will filter out nodes that are not suitable to be cluster heads, so the wrong cluster head selection will not occur. © 2020 Association for computing Machinery.

Underwater wireless sensor relies on the vantage point in networking for data transfer to sink, which is being positioned at the top surface. The sensor nodes subjected for data transfer are being affected due to mobility which hinders multi-hop communication. Thus localization of the sensor node to provide measurement and data transfer post deployment varies. Thus subsequent investigation has to be made continuously for routes to enable location coordinates. The purpose of this work is to consider the localization within a sensing area and underlying routes for data transfer associated to sink. Underwater Localization and Packet Transfer (ULPT) has been proposed to estimate the sensing area maps, connectivity holes in data transfer with in upper hemispherical transmission range at appropriate time stamps. Simulation of the proposed protocol with aquasim patch in network simulator 2 captures the experimental condition analogous to underwater networks. © 2020 ieee.

Activity Recognition can be referred to as the process of describing and classifying actions, pinpoint specific movements, and extract unique patterns from the dataset using heterogeneous sensing modalities. Activity Recognition approaches have garnered the attention of researchers in the energy management domain to enhance energy utilization in buildings. In our experiment, we define activities as a combination of different actions, which are detected using multiple sensors. To learn insights for the various activities, we used inexpensive Passive Infrared (PIR) sensors in the test-bed. This study aims at gaining high-level knowledge about activities from the low-resolution sensors deployed. For accurate occupancy counts, we have used 3D Stereo Vision Cameras at the entrance, and count lines are defined to capture the transitions of inflow and outflow of multiple occupants. Multi-class labels enable activity recognition on the collected dataset. The multi-class labels used are 1) Moving, 2) Stagnant, 3) Outside, 4) Both (Moving and Stagnant), 5) No activity inside. The labeling for the multi-class is done through an algorithm using supervised learning. The data acquisition gets carried out from 23rd November to 3rd December 2018, spanning over a period for 11 days. The results document that Gradient Boosting Classifier outperforms any other Machine Learning Classification (MLC) algorithm with an accuracy of 97.59% and an F1 score of 97.40% for activity recognition. This paper also explicitly highlights the challenges and limitations faced during the initial phase for the deployment, and it identifies the key research trends and directs towards the potential improvements in the field of occupancy sensing for energy-efficient buildings.

The blockchain technology has been popular not only in cryptoassets but also in various fields of enterprise systems, where smart contracts between multiple stakeholders play a significant role. Hyperledger Fabric is one of the leading open-source enterprise blockchain platforms, which employs a unique consensus algorithm comprising three phases: endorsement, ordering, and committing. In this paper, three potential issues in Hyperledger Fabric are addressed when it is applied to enterprise systems: local alteration of ledgers, short of endorsers faced especially with private data, and auditing requirements. To solve and mitigate the issues, a blockchain verification tool bcverifier is proposed. This paper presents six requirements for the tool, the basic design of the tool, and how the design satisfies the requirements. It also clarifies the properties which the tool verifies in the ledger: immutability, consensus, and consistency in Hyperledger Fabric ledgers.

distributed publish/subscribe systems are an enabling technology for Industrial Internet of Things applications. While the number of sensors increases, network bandwidth becomes a bottleneck. Existing solutions typically aim to reduce network load either by pre-processing events directly on the edge or by aggregating events into larger batches. However, these approaches are rather static and do not adequately account for the application requirements of subscribers or the actual values of sensor measurements. This paper introduces methods for publish/subscribe systems to dynamically adapt payloads of events at runtime based on i) different data reduction and transformation strategies, ii) a wrapper solution around existing message brokers and iii) a semantics-based event schema registry. Consumers are able to subscribe to various quality levels and receive virtual events, that are reconstructed directly at the subscriber based on knowledge from the semantic model and dynamic decision rules. Our evaluation shows that the concept of virtual events can reduce the network load between publishers, the message broker and subscribers compared to multiple investigated compression techniques.

In this paper, an 8-bit current-steering digital-to-analog converter for pressure sensor’s analog linearization is proposed. The circuit adopts a 7bit-Sign segmented structure and is built on Cadence. The lower four bits are coded by binary, the higher three bits are coded by unary, and the sign bit is used to control the rise and fall of the steps to complete the function of the 8-bit DAC, which greatly reduces the layout area and improves the circuit accuracy. The circuit mainly includes a decoding circuit, unit current cells and switches, high-gain operational amplifier and sign bit circuit. Finally, the dynamic and static characteristics of this DAC are calculated, where differential nonlinearity(DNL) is 0 LSB, integral nonlinearity (INL) is less than 0.1 LSB and spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) is 52dB.

The existence of bounded data and unbounded data gives a great challenge for data processing in smart cities. The wide application of the internet of things (IoT) makes the data amount rapidly increase. This leads to further raise the requirement for data processing in smart cities, especially the demand for low latency and abundant data in real-time video services. To solve this problem, a Flink based framework with smart city adaption is proposed. A mathematical model for data processing in smart cities is formulated. Through this model's solution, the path with the minimum resource occupancy ratio (ROR) is obtained. The superiority and feasibility of our work are validated via numerical simulation and prototype implementation, respectively. © 2020 ieee.

The rapid changes in textile and clothing industry's operational environment in which apparel businesses are collaborating with their suppliers and customers have recognized interoperability of information systems as an important factor. The need to address this challenge becomes vital in the context of new paradigms such as the Internet of Things (IoT), and its ability to capture real-time information from different parts of textile and cloth manufacturing value chain by using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags and sensors-based data communication networks. In this process, enterprise information system architecture plays an important role in storing, processing, and distributing data. Despite contributing to the rapid development of IoT applications, the current IoT-centric architecture has led to a myriad of isolated data silos. This paper presents a blockchain-based architecture for the IoT applications, which brings distributed data management to support transactions services within a multi-party apparel business supply chain network. This paper reports a multi-band surface-enhanced molecular detection technique induced by bright-dark coupling in the mid-IR fingerprint region. Our device enables the excitation of four plasmonic resonances (3 mu m, 5.6 mu m, 6.9 mu m, and 7.4 mu m) covering an ultra-wide spectral range, which paves the way to molecule recognition from the whole IR fingerprint region. The multi-band plasmonic sensor with ultra-wide continuous resonance spectra can be used for a wide range of infrared molecular sensing applications with enhanced detection resolution and sensitivity.

Connecting all devices through the Internet is now practical via the Internet of Things (IoT). Typically, IoT is characterized by using smart and self-configuring objects that can interact with each other via global network infrastructure. The Wireless sensor Network (WSN) designed for IoT are tiny, cheap, and power-efficient sensor nodes designed for efficient data transmission. Meanwhile, the network lifetime remains to be the greatest challenge and therefore appropriate routing is needed for delay-less transmission. This paper intends to propose a new cluster-based routing strategy in IoT that attains improved scalability, robustness, and so on. However, the Cluster Head (CH) selection remains to be the critical aspect, which is progressed using a new optimization algorithm termed as search and rescue optimization algorithm (SAR). This cluster head selection obviously will deal with certain constraints like (i) Energy (ii) Distance and (iii) Delay, respectively. Finally, the performance of the proposed work is proved concerning certain performance measures. © 2020 ieee.
