Generally, in the deployment of wireless sensor networks, the process of maintaining the required Quality of Service [QoS] remains as a significant challenge as it is ought to provide the limited energy supplies to its sensor nodes. Whereas, the WSN area is observed as an important tool in supporting the applications ranging from environmental and industrial monitoring to battlefield surveillance and TRAC control. Many routing protocols have been designed based on clustering. This research will work on the implementation and analysis of the two types of LEACH protocol, and make full comparison based on their function, usage, application, network lifetime, and their network performance. The proposed research work has deployed LEACH (low energy adaptive clustering hierarchy) alongwith a hierarchical clustering protocol. The second one is multi-hop LEACH, which uses large zone and further supported by using this protocol in military applications, where sink is observed at the edge of monitored area or farther. © 2020 ieee.

The analysis of dielectric properties in Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has become an important research branch since the outbreak of the epidemic in 2019. In order to detect the dielectric properties of microfluidics like virus with higher sensitivity, a radio frequency sensor model is proposed in this paper. First, based on the excellent characteristics of the microstrip meander-line such as more concentrated electric field distribution, the microstrip meander-line is introduced into the design of traditional cancellation sensor, which is called the meander sensor. Then, the relationship between transmission coefficients of the system and dielectric properties of microfluidics is given in this paper. The simulation results verify the ultra-sensitivity of the meander sensor. Even though the relative permittivity of microfluidics is changed in the order of magnitude 10 −2 , the measurement results of the meander sensor also change significantly. However, the straight sensor can only measure changes of relative permittivity in the order of magnitude 10 −1 . What’s more, there is a more concentrated measurement range for the meander sensor. This will be more practical for measuring weak changes of dielectric properties caused by the microfluidics itself and its interactions.

Frequent Itemset Mining (FIM) is the core of tasks such as association rules and sequential pattern mining. With the increasing amount of data, traditional FIM algorithms become inefficient due to excessive resource requirements or high communication costs. In this paper, the Eclat algorithm in the frequent itemset mining algorithm is taken as the research point, and the parallel Eclat optimization algorithm BPEclat (Balanced Parallel Eclat) based on Spark is proposed to solve the performance shortcoming of Eclat algorithm in serial processing large-scale data. The algorithm is improved and optimized from many aspects: combining the pre-pruning and post-pruning depth pruning strategies to reduce the calculation of irrelevant itemset, compressing the candidate set size;using the prefix term to divide the data set, and using the range partitioning idea to balance the calculations node load, improve the parallel computing power of the algorithm. The experimental results show that the proposed BPEclat algorithm reduces the candidate set size by 25.3% and the time consumption by 32.5%. Therefore, it is possible to process massive amounts of data more efficiently and reliably, and has good scalability and universality.

With the rapid advancement of technology in the current era, mobile and wearable devices have attracted the attention of end users. Smartwatches available in the market have embedded movement sensors whose potential applications have not been explored to a great extent. This study proposes a gesture recognition module using a smart sensor Metawear which can potentially be used to control various functions of a media player. Inertial sensors data from 9 subjects for 12 different gestures (3 trials for each gesture) are acquired. Fifteen different features are extracted from the acquired data. Wrapper method for feature selection is applied on the extracted features which select features from six features groups among the fifteen extracted feature groups. Classification of gestures is performed using three different classifiers i.e., random forest (RF), Naive Bayes (NB) and k-nearest neighbors (kNN) algorithm. The best classification accuracy of 85.80% is achieved by using a fusion of features extracted from accelerometer and gyroscope data by kNN classifier. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the existing schemes in literature in terms of classification accuracy for the larger number of gestures. © 2020 ieee.

Telepresence and telemanipulation robotics are suitable solutions to relieve humans from direct health risks and repetitive or unhealthy work. Through demographic changes in western countries and the COVID-19 pandemic, this relief is also considered for healthcare workers, especially caregivers, as the demands for them rises. The requirements are intuitively usable telerobotic and telepresence systems for remote assistance, to cut the high physical strain in manual patient transfers and the reduction of contact with infected patients. To ensure this, key technologies like 3D imaging and perception systems are essential. In this work, we present a novel, lightweight telepresence and telemanipulation system, specialized for caregiving. It allows an operator, wearing a virtual reality headset, to immerse into a sensor system captured scene on a distant location in real-time, with low latency of 250 ms and up to 30 fps refresh rate. Extensive measurement shows that 97.1% of the relevant point cloud data is below 1 cm error and 99.5 % is below 1.6 cm, making the system suitable for the application.

Currently, Russia is increasingly using low-power power plants that are connected to medium-voltage distribution networks in close proximity to electricity consumers, making the distribution network active. In active distribution networks, there are a number of problems associated with changing a operating modes of the network:- A direction of power flows along power lines becomes possible in both directions;-the ratio of operating currents to short-circuit currents depends significantly on the operating mode of generating units included in the distribution network;-multi-way recharge of the short-circuit point becomes possible;-there are previously non-typical modes for distribution networks, such as swinging, asynchronous running. © 2020 ieee.

Thanks to the development of technologies and their price reduction, there are more opportunities for integrating renewable energy sources and creating networks with distributed generation. In these networks, generating units are represented by small synchronous generators, photovoltaic units, or wind turbines. To control and efficiently integrate them into existing networks, power electronics converters are used. All this affects the decrease in the inertia of the system as a whole, therefore, the speed and nature of transients as a result of, for example, short circuits in the network is significantly changing. Thus, in the event of a power shortage due to loss of generation or loss of communication with the system, a significant decrease in the frequency is possible in very short time intervals due to the small values of the system inertia. In addition, there is an acute question for the board, operational reliability and stability of networks with distributed generation in isolated operating modes, since there is a problem of coordination of each of the inverters and their correct configuration. © 2020 ieee.

With the new designs of Vertical Axis Wind Turbines, producing electrical energy from wind has never been so promising at small scale. The connection of any distributed generation unit has its benefits as well as its drawbacks;which are more pronounced with increasing penetration level of these units. As such, fundamental network parameters are altered which are likely to affect performance characteristics like voltage, network losses, fault level and harmonics. In this paper, these impacts are studied for a typical residential area in Mauritius which was modelled in detail in DIgSILENT Power Factory®. With increasing penetration level and different sizes of DG used, the response of the network was observed such as to establish the hosting capacity of this network so as to maintain a safe and reliable operation. © 2020 ieee.

In this paper, we present a distance-based formation control strategy for multiple multi-rotor aerial vehicles participating in a target interception mission. The target moves arbitrarily, following a smooth 3D trajectory, while the intercepting vehicles aim at establishing a predefined enclosing formation around it, by attaining specific distances among them and simultaneously avoiding inter-agent collisions and connectivity breaks. More specifically, we propose a decentralized motion control protocol based on the prescribed performance control notion, which is of low computational complexity and is able to achieve robust and accurate formation establishment. Each agent requires local and relative state feedback, which can be acquired by a common onboard sensor suite without necessitating for explicit network communication. A realistic simulation study with one target and four multi-rotor interceptors was conducted to prove the efficacy of the proposed strategy.

In the future, Drones or general Unmanned Aerial Vehicles(UAVs) need to implement online real-time object detection, but their memory and computing power are limited. An improved YOLOv3 is adopted in this paper, making full use of the lightweight network instead of the feature extraction network of YOLOv3 to achieve high-efficiency object detection for remote sensing images. In the case of similar detection accuracy, parameters and FLOPs (floating point operations) of the improved model are 2.5 times and 3.3 times smaller than YOLOv3, respectively. In addition, an IoU K-medians algorithm is proposed, which improves mAP by 7.0% on YOLOv3 and by 2.3% on the improved YOLOv3. Experiments show that the detection speed of the improved YOLOv3 is 101 frame/s at the fastest, and it is still 1.6 times faster than that of YOLOv3 when its mAP is 6% higher than that of YOLOv3. The efficient remote sensing object detection method proposed in this paper lays the foundation for future UAVs.
