Wireless sensor Networks promises the wireless network tools that does not require any stable infrastructure. Routing is the most important effect of network operation for the extended data rates within the network. Route discovery and route search sent the required packets from the target node source. However, good data transmission is also a threatening task in networks that provide efficient and energy-efficient routing. Various research activities focus on the topology control, source location privacy optimization and effective routing improvement in WSN. Wherein the existing security solutions both routing protocols and source location solutions disrupt the self-organizing nature of wireless sensor networks. Therefore, large overhead signatures are displayed and digitally verified by the requesting node. The cloud-based and routing based schemes have provided efficient security but there are a lot of obstacles for source data and travel path information security in the WSN network. This study is dedicated to calculate the desired number of deployments for sensor nodes in a given area once the selected metric achieves a certain level of coverage, while maintaining wireless connectivity in the network. A trusted node authentication scheme in wireless sensor network reduces the communication between nodes in a secure data transmission network, where shared cryptography is established all adjacent to the sensor node. Route discovery and retransmission increases the network overhead and increases the average end-to-end delay of the network in the conventional systems. This results in higher time complexity, communication overhead and less security of constrained sensor network resources. © 2020 ieee.

Human body has six vital signs which can be used to determine the physical conditions of the person. A combination of the vital signs is used to determine if a person needs urgent medical attention or not. If any anomaly is detected, an alert message is sent to the pre-registered Hospital. As it allows continuous monitoring of real life time values it has to be interconnected with various objects via the internet. Wireless sensor networks are chosen in favor to have a broad domain in connection. Prolonging the network lifetime and reduction of energy consumption are the two important aspects which must be focused when it comes in the application of wireless sensor network but the significant consternation with wireless sensor network is to have meagre battery power supply. The LEACH protocol is modified in such a way that it significantly enhances the performance with the throughput which is about 65% and also the increase in average residual energy which is determined by the rounds which can be used to increase the lifetime, stability, period, energy and density of node. Also, the addition of the GSM module and GPS module will enable easy integration with android based devices in the future. This device can also be custom made to meet every individual's requirements. This eliminates the time lag that doctors spend trying to get a reading of the vitals. © 2020 ieee.

Time series anomaly detection strives to uncover potential abnormal behaviors and patterns from temporal data, and has fundamental significance in diverse application scenarios. Constructing an effective detection model usually requires adequate training data stored in a centralized manner, however, this requirement sometimes could not be satisfied in realistic scenarios. As a prevailing approach to address the above problem, federated learning has demonstrated its power to cooperate with the distributed data available while protecting the privacy of data providers. However, it is still unclear that how existing time series anomaly detection algorithms perform with decentralized data storage and privacy protection through federated learning. To study this, we conduct a federated time series anomaly detection benchmark, named FedTADBench, which involves five representative time series anomaly detection algorithms and four popular federated learning methods. We would like to answer the following questions: (l)How is the performance of time series anomaly detection algorithms when meeting federated learning? (2) Which federated learning method is the most appropriate one for time series anomaly detection? (3) How do federated time series anomaly detection approaches perform on different partitions of data in clients? Numbers of results as well as corresponding analysis are provided from extensive experiments with various settings. The source code of our benchmark is publicly available at https://***/fanxindiu2020/FedTADBench.

This paper introduces Beat sensors which are suitable for smart environment monitoring as low power and small size IoT sensors. As a typical representative, the Ethanol Beat sensor is realized to monitor the ethanol concentration from 0 to 200 ppm at almost 20 ppm resolution. Beat sensor has large potential to address issues of smart environment monitoring such as air pollutions management. Moreover, the long distance (LoRa) communication protocol is applied to build a smart and energy efficient monitoring system.

This paper presents a developing method for effective implementation of large-scale distributed sensing systems. Use of occam-pi programming language for simulation is yet implemented by code generator from a high-level tool. A complete program has local activities for sensing and distributed activities for data collection and distributed control. distributed algorithms are developed and fine-tuned by simulators. To validate and evaluate our proposed method, node local behavior was interpreted on target hardware for the practical deployment of wireless sensor networks.

Localized heavy rainfall causes overflow of drains, and in more critical situation it leads to flood in cities with major infrastructural damages. Drastic climatic changes have increased the probability of high precipitation at arbitrary locations all around the world and have exposed the limitations of forecasting models based on historical data. Forecasts by the U.N. shows that cities that were considered safe in the previous years can now face high precipitation. To monitor the water level in urban drainage and mitigate the risk of overflow, the design of STORM is laid out;a 5-layered architecture comprising of a sensing layer, a communication layer, a local computing layer, a processing layer and a remote monitoring layer. STORM has a real-Time monitoring algorithm to monitor the water level and water flow in the drainage. It also consists of a water overflow predictive algorithm to predict the water level and water flow at different sections of the drain. Predictive analysis for water streams is used to arbitrate the downstream parameters and obstacle detection algorithms to determine obstacles that are blocking the water flow. STORM uses a hydrological model that monitors the hydrological characteristics of water flowing in the drain. A critical evaluation of STORM is performed to depicts its capabilities and expose the areas of improvement. © 2020 ieee.

The power distribution networks are radially structured, with fuses, reclosures for temporary faults, and relays. After the connection of distributed Generation (DG) to the power system, it is subject to the in-feed effect which results in different currents flowing through primary and backup relays. Thus, predefined coordination time interval (CTI) will be changed, which in turn, leads to the violence of coordination rule between the relays. This paper proposes a novel adaptive protection scheme for the power network integrated with DG which takes the severity of the fault current into account. Thus, the higher the magnitude of the fault current, the faster will be the breaker action and fault isolation. The solution is to adjust the variable relay parameters including Time Dial Setting (TDS) and Plug Setting (PS) of Inverse Definite Minimum Time (IDMT) relays. According to the proposed algorithm, the relay settings are updated based on the status of the breaker connected to the DG. The paper implemented ieee 33-bus power distribution network to analyze the influence of DG on the operations of primary and backup relays and to test the proposed algorithm. The simulation results showed that the proposed scheme is effective in maintaining CTI in distribution systems with PV involvement.

Local search algorithms are widely applied in solving large-scale distributed Constraint Optimization Problems(DCOPs). In local search algorithms, each agent makes its decision based on values of its neighbours. Thus, the search space of agents are bound up with those values. Fortunately, Genetic Algorithm(GA) can direct a search process to a more promising search space and help the search process break up the bound of local states, so we propose a GA-based framework (LSGA) to enhance local search algorithms. In LSGA, a novel fitness function is proposed to help agents evaluate the quality of value assignments. Moreover, we propose a method to decide crossover positions in term of agent-communication and the topological structure of DCOPs. Finally, we design a series of genetic operators for autonomous agents in DCOPs. The LSGA framework can be easily applied in any local search algorithm, and the experimental results demonstrate the superiority of the use of LSGA in the typical search algorithms over state-of-art local search algorithms. © 2020 ieee.

Wireless Ad Hoc Networks are gaining popularity nowadays due to easiness in deployment and management of the network. They are self organizing wireless networks formed by mobile nodes on-the-fly without using any fixed infrastructure. They are widely useful in military based applications, emergency search and rescue operation during disaster management or even communication in big superstores. However, due to their decentralized and distributed operation, security is a major concern in these type of networks. Limited computational capability of the nodes and lower battery backup created added constraints which further reduces the possibility of using cryptographic techniques in securing these networks. Availability is one of the security requirements needed for any wireless networks. Threat to availability is Denial of Service (DoS) attack. Flooding attack is one of various DoS attacks that can be launched from various layer of protocol stack. This paper is intended to provide a review of Route Request (RREQ) flooding attack and their state-of-the-art remedial measures in Wireless Ad Hoc Networks. © 2020 ieee.

Due to the increased deployment of distributed generation, it becomes important to compute the ideal expansion plan for the overall system, even though, in practice, transmission and distribution network planners solve their problems independent of each other, leading to sub-optimal solutions. Therefore, this paper addresses the integrated expansion planning problem of transmission and distribution systems where investments in network and generation assets are jointly considered. Several alternatives are available for the installation of lines as well as conventional and wind-based generators at both system levels. Thus, the optimal expansion plan identifies the best alternative for the candidate assets under uncertain demand and wind power production. The proposed model is an instance of stochastic programming wherein uncertainty is characterized through a set of scenarios that explicitly capture the correlation between the sources of uncertainty. The resulting stochastic program is driven by the minimization of the total expected cost, which comprises investment and operating cost terms. The associated scenario-based deterministic equivalent is formulated as a mixed-integer linear program for which finite convergence to optimality is guaranteed. Numerical results show the effective performance of the proposed approach.
