The implementation of large-scale optimization and control of residential appliances to support demand response (DR) programs comes with the challenges of coordinated communication, privacy, and consideration of customer preferences. Solving this complexity is best suited through a distributed optimization and control approach at the residential level by leveraging the availability and intelligence of a home energy management systems (HEMS). In this paper, a hierarchical control scheme to coordinate large-scale residential demand response through coordination of HEMs is proposed. This scheme is based on the exchange of a reward price and aggregated load information between utility system and HEMS. Numerical results on a one hundred-house model demonstrate the computational efficiency of the proposed approach.

The dynamic environment is one of the challenging leftover problems for SLAM methods. Recently, researchers made a lot of efforts and achieved some breakthroughs in the dynamic SLAM research field. However, the existed RGB-D SLAM datasets are lacking the dynamic environment. In this paper, we present a novel SLAM benchmark which is dedicated to the dynamic environment SLAM solutions. Moreover, these datasets are acquired from an on-board camera on the HRP-4 humanoid robot, the humanoid dynamic motions, such as the shake from biped walking, the falling down case are included. The data of other on-boardsensors, such as IMU, force sensor and joint angle encoders, are provided as well.

A comparative analysis of sliding mode control and PI controller for the operation of boost converter is presented in this paper. Proportional (P), Proportional Integral (PI), Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controllers are the widespread linear control technique which are very ordinary and less costly for adjustment to a particular specification or requirement. Many industries use these controllers. On the other hand there is one non-linear sliding mode control (SMC) technique. It has many advantages like fast dynamical response, ingrained robust features of SMC. In the present paper, the boost converter is modeled and Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) based SMC and PI controllers are designed and simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK. SMC and PI controller performance areanalyzed and compared and the results are projected.

Industrial Wireless sensor Networks (IWSNs) can be flexibly deployed in industries with low cost. Thus, the industrial production process integrated with IWSNs can get more information to improve the performance of control and management. Due to the harsh environments and stringent reliability requirements in industries, Time-Slotted Channel Hopping (TSCH) is introduced in ieee 802.15.4e-based wireless networks to improve their certainty and reliability. However, there is no explicit scheduling mechanism which should be made according to the industrial production requirements and the wireless environments. In this paper, the structure of transmission sequence of the TSCH networks is proposed and the adaptive scheduling algorithm is key of the structure. The scheduling algorithm takes the difference between the number of packets in the queue and the number of scheduled cells as the error of the incremental PID controller which can schedule the suitable number of cells to transmit the packets timely. When the quality of channels changes, each node can execute an adaptive channel selection procedure to predict the difference of using different channels. As a result, each node can dynamically select suitable channels to use. Simulations validate the effectiveness of the proposed scheduling algorithm.

The human-machine interface plays a major role in the development of the prosthetic arm which acts as an immediate rehabilitation for the amputee. Electromyogram (EMG) signals which are signals acquired from muscles require high accuracy in detection, preprocessing, feature extraction and classification which is a challenging task The main focus of this paper is on how to improve the accuracy by using low cost electrodes so that the overall prosthesis cost can be lowered. Two different classification techniques, Support Vector Machine (SVM) and k-Nearest Neighbor (kNN) are employed and the results are compared to determine which method gives better accuracy. In this paper, classification and analysis is done on surface Electromyogram (sEMG) signals acquired from muscle sensor v3 and datasets available online. The movements to be classified are cylindrical, spherical and lateral. For analysis of the signals, four level wavelet decomposition was used and features such as Standard Deviation (SD),Waveform Length (WL) and Root Mean Square (RMS) were extracted and compared.
