Applications of Information-Centric Networking (ICN) technology to future internet of things (IoT) and distributed edge/fog computing are widely discussed in various research committees. In this paper, we demonstrate a real-time video streaming scenario using CeforeSim, an NS-3 based ICN simulator. CeforeSim is based on Cefore, an open-source implementation of ICN, which is compliant with the CCNx packet format standardized by the IRTF ICN Research Group (ICNRG). The virtual interfaces provisioned in CeforeSim expedite seamless interaction between the simulated nodes and physical nodes that run the Cefore applications, thereby affording performance evaluations in various scenarios, such as handover of mobile nodes, large-scale sensor networks, and distributed edge/fog computing with the real environments.

With the advancement of modern marine detection technology, single parameter monitoring sensors have been incapable to adapt to complex and varied environments. In order to accomplish multi-parameter measurement in the water quality testing process, a low-power multi-parameter sensor based on BP network and least squares algorithm is proposed. Aiming at solving problems of poor accuracy, long sampling time and high-power consumption of sensors, a software and hardware optimization design combining algorithm is proposed. The results show that the sensor that the design can effectively realize temperature compensation and improve the parameter accuracy after the algorithm is processed by the algorithm. The hardware structure adopts low-power design and adjustable parameter design, which can reduce the system power consumption while minimizing the sampling time of some parameters. The software adopts FSM design to realize sensor mode selection. After testing, the multi-parameter detection system designed in this paper can meet the requirements of stability, accurate and low levels of power consumption in water quality testing. © 2019 ieee.

The objective of this paper is to minimize the total cost of electrical power distribution by optimizing the sitting and sizing of distributed generation (DG) in distribution network. The total cost consists of the compensation cost for power losses on network, the cost of purchasing power from the main grid, and also the cost incurred as a penalty charge to unserved power. The sitting and sizing of DG are optimized by using particle swarm optimization (PSO). The constraints are the bus voltage, distribution network capacity, distribution substation, and operational DG. The simulations are conducted by using Matlab with the 9-bus system as the case study. It is found that the optimum solution achieved when three DGs installed at bus 3, 7 and 9 with each capacity 5 MW. DGs reduce the total cost by $38104.79/day. DG installations also reduce energy losses and improve voltage profile in each bus.

The use of deep neural networks (DNN) for 3Dimage processing significantly enhances visual cognition of mobile systems by considering spatial information. However, training and execution require high computing power. This is crucial in applications with real-time constraints since mobile systems have limited resources. Current approaches do not consider the usage of 3D-sensing. Furthermore, suggested system architectures solely focus on cloud- and edge-computing in combination with load balancing and parallelization for a distributed execution of DNNs. In contrast, we propose a novel system architecture for the distributed and context aware usage of DNNs for image processing tasks in mobile 3D-multi-sensor systems. Thereby, the scalable cloud- and edge-infrastructure is complemented by realtime capable and energy-efficient FPGA-computing. The publishsubscriber pattern facilitates the distributed execution of DNNs as well as their dynamic deployment. Moreover, context information is considered. Thus, a rule-based context model dynamically loads specialized DNNs and selects appropriate devices for execution. Finally, a case-study on a mobile 3D-multi-sensor system for wheeled walkers demonstrates applicability and benefits of the proposed approach.

In low-voltage distribution systems, distributed generators (DGs) connected to radial distribution feeders can supply power to critical loads during major disasters. These networks are generally built by using low-inertia DGs that can adapt to changes of operation. Therefore, during disasters, the using of DGs for power restoration is a better choice to provide reliable power for critical loads. Irrespective of the low-inertia advantages of DGs, the disadvantage is that large load steps may cause system instability. Thus, a well-designed control method is necessary to make the system stable. This paper demonstrates a multi-agent system (MAS) based critical loads restoration method and emergency control strategy using the islanded operation of DGs. A modified ieee 8 nodes distribution feeder system with two synchronous generators is developed in Matlab/Simulink. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the suggested model.

Recently, to cope with resource and environment problems, quantities of new energy sources have been exploited. Many of them are connected to the power distribution network in the form of distributed generation (DG). With the promotion of permeability of DGs, the direction and amplitude of fault currents arc dramatically influenced, making traditional protection unable to detect faults. Besides, with the development of cyber-physical systems(CPS), it is possible to gather more information to make comprehensive decisions to help detect a fault in power distribution network. This paper proposes a distributed fault-detecting mechanism in a CPS. Depending on the designed CPS structure, information of current and voltage from all nodes can be gathered in a subsystem. Furthermore, such information will be edge-computed, using the proposed algorithm and process of fault identification and location. Thus, varieties of fault can he effectively discovered and accurately located, in power distribution network with DGs.

In this paper, we propose a distributed source coding algorithm based on sampling for source symbols, which is implemented by arithmetic coding and context modeling. We propose an improved posterior probability calculation method for this algorithm. The proposed algorithm has the same or better performance than the original distributed arithmetic coding when coding a practical source sequence obtained from a binary image.

Water shortage is fast becoming one of the biggest crises of this century. The recent, exponential rise in adoption of the most disparate Internet of Things (IoT) devices and technologies has reached also Water supply chains, drumming up substantial research and innovation interest towards developing reliable, auditable and transparent traceability systems. Current IoT-based traceability and provenance systems for water supply chains are built on top of centralized infrastructures and this leaves room for unsolved issues and major concerns, including data integrity, tampering and single points of failure. Blockchains, the distributed ledger technology underpinning cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, represent a new and innovative technological approach to realizing decentralized trustless systems. This will also eliminate corruption due to unmaintained record of sources. Indeed, the inherent properties of this digital technology provide fault-tolerance, immutability, transparency and full traceability of the stored transaction records, as well as coherent digital representations of physical assets and autonomous transaction executions. This paper presents Aqua-chain, a fully decentralized, blockchain-based traceability solution for Water supply chain management, able to seamless integrate IoT devices producing and consuming digital data along the chain. To effectively assess Aqua-chain, first, we defined a classical use-case within the given vertical domain, namely from-supplier-to-buyer. Then, we developed and deployed such use-case, achieving traceability using blockchain implementation, Ethereum. Finally, we evaluated and compared the performance deployments, in terms of latency, CPU, and network usage, also highlighting its main pros and cons. © 2019 ieee.

The penetration of distributed generation sources into transmission systems faces many reliability challenges, especially in the distance protection operation. The key issue discussed and associated with DG on distance protection is the reduction in reach of distance relay. This paper analyses the distance relay behavior without and with the presence of a distributed generation. Therefore, an application for a real Tunisian transmission system is simulated using the DigSILENT software. The Simulation results are discussed and illustrated. In addition, we propose a solution to increase the reliability of the power system. © 2019 ieee.

When using the compressed sensing method in Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR) imaging, there are two major problems: long calculation time and insufficient scalability of t calculation ability. In order to solve the above problems, this paper proposes a distributed imaging method for SAR compressed sensing imaging based on MapReduce. First, the sparse data is labeled, then the range and azimuth image are reconstructed by two MapReduce calculation processes. With parallel computing advantages, the acceleration of SAR compressed sensing imaging is realized.
