At present, the amount of data generated by IoT terminal devices has become extremely large. The traditional centralized data processing model centered on the cloud computing model has been unable to support the current power IoT system. This paper proposes an intelligent fault detection system for power IoT devices based on edge computing for the defects of the cloud center computing model. The system model is divided into cloud center layer, edge layer, and field layer. In the field layer, the DTW complement algorithm is used to complement the sensor data; the DNN algorithm is used to implement the fault primary classification in the edge layer, and the classification result is uploaded to the cloud center layer; the correlation between the data is used in the cloud center layer to realize the fault classification. After that, an experiment was designed to verify the efficacy of the modified model.

This paper describes MARBLE, which is a mobile augmented reality system that uses a cluster of off-the-shelf, low power, storage and bandwidth constrained Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons as an infrastructure. MARBLE efficiently stores and broadcasts minimal visual information of 3D objects and help localize a mobile viewer, who receives, renders, and experiences those 3D virtual objects while walking in the environment, wearing an augmented reality headset or viewing it through a smartphone. Compared to other common indoor AR systems, MARBLE consumes less computation resource, stores and broadcasts 3D objects and shapes data over a very long period, does not require a pre-defined texture pattern to be placed in the scene for camera pose estimation, and is less sensitive to camera capture quality. We conduct a user study to demonstrate that MARBLE is capable of capturing freehand gestures, and when replayed back, a user sees a virtual avatar performing the gestures in the 3D environment in real-time.

Communication networking leverages emerging network technologies such as topology management schemes to satisfy the demand of exponentially increasing devices and associated network traffic. Particularly, without efficient topology management, Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications will likely asymmetrically congest gateways and eNodeBs in 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Long-Term Evolution (LTE) and Long-Term Evolution Advanced (LTE-A) networks, especially when M2M devices are massively deployed to support diverse applications. To address this issue, in this paper, we propose a 3D Topology Optimization (3D-TO) scheme to obtain the optimal placement of gateways and eNodeBs for M2M communications. By taking advantage of the fact that most M2M devices rarely move, 3D-TO can specify optimal gateway positions for each M2M application, which consists of multiple M2M devices. This is achieved through global optimization, based on the distances between gateways and M2M devices. Utilizing the optimization process, 3D-TO likewise determines optimal eNodeB positions for each M2M application, based on the distances between eNodeBs and optimal M2M gateways. Our experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed 3D-TO scheme towards M2M communications, with regard to throughput, delay, path loss, and packet loss ratio.

With the advancement of power reform, the scale of inter-provincial power trading in the East China region has been increasing, the scale of transactions has been expanding. More and more parameters are being considered, and the calculation processing logic is more and more complicated. In order to cope with the situation that the market rules change too fast and the complexity is too high, the East China Power Trading System will introduce a distributed technology architecture based on cloud computing and microservices. However, this process from the single-element architecture to the distributed architecture puts higher demands on the multi-task scheduling processing mechanism of the system. Based on the analysis of East China Power Market Trading Business and East China Power Market Trading System, this paper proposes a task scheduling solution based on distributed control strategy with reference to the solution ideas of the Internet industry. It solves the scheduling problem of mutual exclusion tasks by using the improved Leader election method and effectively avoids the brain crack problem of the Leader election. Based on this distributed task processing strategy, this paper further elaborates the corresponding engineering solutions. It includes the specific implementation contents of task management interface, task scheduling center, task scheduling client and abnormal monitoring function in East China Power Market Trading System, so as to facilitate the practical application of system design and development personnel in system construction. In addition, the program also proved the feasibility of the program through stress testing and application practice.

This paper presents a system architecture for mapping and real-time monitoring of a relatively large industrial robotic environment of size 10m x 15m x 5 m. Six sensor nodes with embedded computing power and local processing of the 3D point clouds are placed close to the ceiling. The system architecture and data processing is based on the Robot Operating System (ROS) and the Point Cloud Library (PCL). The 3D sensors used are the Microsoft Kinect for Xbox One and point cloud data is collected at 20 Hz. A new manual calibration procedure is developed using reflective planes. The specified range of the used sensor is 0.8m to 4.2 m, while depth data up to 9m is used in this paper. Despite the fact that only six sensors are used and that the Kinect sensors are operated beyond the specified range, a benchmark of the accuracy compared with a Leica laser distance meter demonstrates an accuracy of 10mm or better in the final 3D point cloud.

Consider a large-scale anonymous wireless sensor network with unknown cardinality. In such graphs, each node has no information about the network topology and only possesses a unique identifier. This paper introduces a novel distributed algorithm for cardinality estimation and topology discovery, i.e., estimating the number of node and structure of the graph, by querying a small number of nodes and performing statistical inference methods. While the cardinality estimation allows the design of more efficient coding schemes for the network, the topology discovery provides a reliable way for routing packets. The proposed algorithm is shown to produce a cardinality estimate proportional to the best linear unbiased estimator for dense graphs and specific running times. Simulation results attest the theoretical results and reveal that, for a reasonable running time, querying a small group of nodes is sufficient to perform an estimation of $$95\%$$ of the whole network. Applications of this work include estimating the number of Internet of Things (IoT) sensor devices, online social users, active protein cells, etc. © 2018, Springer international Publishing AG.

Localization is a pivotal technology in wireless sensor networks and location information of sensor nodes is essential to location-based applications. In the beacon-based localization, the reliability of beacons' location information is critical to the quality of network service. In this paper, we study the influences of drifting beacons the network localization. So according to this scenario mentioned above, we propose a distributed and lightweight beacons locations verification algorithm based on neighborhood-similarity (BLVNS), which utilizes similarity of the beacons' neighborhood in different time slot to recognize drifting beacons. The whole algorithms can be applied to the static and dynamic WSNs to improve the accuracy of range-free localization. Experiment results show that our algorithms can recognize unreliable beacons with detection rate higher than 90%.

This paper proposes a rehabilitation assitant system equipped with a capacitor sensor array (CSA) for persons exhibiting upper-extremity motor impairments. The CSA utilizes mutual capacitance to quantize patients' hand motions on a rehabilitation activity board. The rehabilitation board is equipped with an accelerometer to detect the slope of the activity board, since different inclinations of motions may affect the motor quality post trauma. A microcontroller - a Texas Instruments MSP430FR2633 - is used to measure capacitance. A secondary microcontroller - an ATmega 328P with the Arduino firmware - is used to retrieve capacitive sensor and accelerometer data, and transfer data via Bluetooth to a web capable edge device. The edge device hosts a webpage displaying the patient's hand positions and the slope position of the activity board to enable visual feedback during and after rehabilitation sessions.

With the advancements in the field of Internet of things (IoT), the scope for research and development of wireless mesh network (WMN) and wireless sensor networks (WSN) has grown drastically. Routing of data in a network is a crucial task, and a significant amount of energy can be saved if the routing is done effectively in a network which is an optimization problem with many constraints like path, energy in a node, link quality, traffic, etc. In order to solve such problems, Genetic Algorithms (GA) that includes heuristic techniques over the given network population would provide a convincing optimized solution. However, the performance of such algorithm is hindered due to premature convergence, hence are incapable of traversing the search space to have numerous solutions for better energy saving. In order to tackle such drawbacks, an enhanced Genetic Algorithm using Local Search technique can be adapted. In this paper, we propose a modified GA called as MEGA (Maximum Enhanced Genetic Algorithm) using Local Search mechanism along with Sleep-Wake up mechanism. It optimizes the Wireless sensor Network such that the energy conservation and extension of network lifetime takes place dynamically, by considering the communication constraints and energy consumption of sensors during their operation and communication. We compare our proposed MEGA protocol with a few existing routing protocols to check its efficiency in terms of routing performance and energy consumption. Development and performance analysis of ad-hoc networking protocols is realized using software-based simulation tools and performance of the system is evaluated for different networking scenario and conditions of WSN with improved energy saving and routing efficiency. © 2018 ieee.

Emergency caused by natural disaster is not easy to tackle, this paper enlightens the existing mechanisms to deal this situation including various methods like MANET, APPs and WSN. Communication setup generally going to be failed in post disaster situation that pushes human into danger and might send them to casualties. Several Applications are in use to provide facilities for disaster management, but due to their design purpose, it has limitations in use. All these are designed to solve specific types of problems;these applications have been discussed in this paper. This paper provides a comparison between different tools used to help in disaster management. These mechanisms were designed with WSN and MANET that will be able to communicate across the obstacle without the help of infrastructure network for a post-disaster scene while sensing done by sensors of the mechanism to send prior alert within the mechanism of WSN and IoT based setups. At the end of the paper, author proposed an alert mechanism using these tools.
