The EU funded ANGEL project focuses on the development and deployment of wireless sensor networks building ambient intelligence systems for assisted-living and personal health monitoring. The provision of security services such as confidentiality and authentication is a fundamental requirement for ANGEL in order to ensure the safety and privacy of the users;the technical realization is challenging due to the high mobility of users accessing a multitude of wireless sensor networks. Our security architecture ensures the secure deployment and efficient, yet secure operation of ANGEL systems. Based on keying-material distribution, we provide a solution for the secure configuration of sensors and gateways. This ensures that users can interact with their system in an easy, transparent and safe way. We further introduce a fast distributed key agreement protocol on top of ZigBee that enables very fast and efficient operation. Performance and security analysis point out the advantages of our new solution.

The work described in this paper aims at supporting the development of distributed measurement systems using the service oriented computing paradigm. A general architecture -MADAMS- was designed and implemented which allows high v dynamic measurement services to be deployed, i.e. published, retrieved and exploited in a networked context. MADAMS depends on Java/Jini. As a significant application, the paperfocus on controlling remote sensors abstracted as MADAMS services. This paper presents an embedded solution of concurrent low-pass filter and sample interleaving system which process back-scattered signal of optic-fiber distributed temperature sensors at 250 MSPS. The logic design is implemented on a data acquisition platform with four ADC channels and FPGA-ARM processors;samples from two ADCs are merged and reconstructed to double the equivalent sampling rate. A low-cost FPGA processes Stokes and antiStokes signals from up to 20000 measurement locations along the fiber. In the experiments the comparison between interleaved data and original data shows that quantization noises around input signal frequency were evidently reduced but small distortions of high frequency were introduced. The concurrent filter guaranteed a SNR of 42.3 for the distributed temperature sensors.

Data fusion is widely used in wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we explore the problem of minimum energy reliable information gathering(MERIG) in wireless sensor networks under data fusion tree model. From the perspective of information value, two algorithms, the optimal algorithm and the distributed approximate algorithm are proposed. The optimal algorithm is the optimal solution for MERIG while the distributed algorithm can approximate the optimal well. Using these two schemes, the information reliability can be guaranteed with high energy efficient manner under unreliable wireless environment.
