The ieee 802.11 Task Group E is working on a QoS-aware MAC protocol involving Enhanced distributed Channel Access (EDCA). This scheme was developed to offer QoS capabilities to WLAN, offering significant improvements to multimedia traffic. MANETs will also benefit from this new technology since the most widely deployed and used wireless cards are those based on ieee 802.11. The use of transmission opportunity (TXOP) EDCA differentiation parameter, received a little attention in the previous analytical studies in contrast to the contention window size-based differentiation mechanism. In this paper, an analytical model is proposed to study and optimize the TXOP bursting transmission scheme. We expose formulates for saturation throughput, delay, and frame-dropping of different priority classes. The analysis allows us to derive the optimal durations of the packet bursting regarding application and network load parameters. We validate the accuracy of our model through ns-2 simulations.

In this paper we propose a new method of Sybil attack detection in Wireless sensor Network (WSN) based on received signal strength indication (RSSI). This method establishes Jakes channel model by emulating real network space situation of WSN. At the same time, it judges Sybil Attack from both the received signal's strength of nodes and the status messages of member nodes which are accumulated in head nodes synthetically. Consequently, two ways were proposed to check, and raise the efficiency and refinement of Sybil attack on head nodes and member nodes. The method achieves the preferable detection rate and offers a wide range of applications.

Wireless sensor networks are increasingly gaining acceptance over the special scene as they provide an infrastructure for probing and transmitting especial information. The open nature of sensor networks exposes a number of security vulnerabilities including the problem of finding reliable trustworthy communication partners. In this paper, we propose trust chain build scheme which provides a trust computation framework by building reputation in decentralized sensor networks. Single node reports its current snapshot to cluster head node which evaluates trustworthiness of it. Cluster head node also will be scored by command node in the light of its behavior. In the real wireless sensor networks, the traffic load is variable for some application requirements and the wireless channel is error-prone and time-varying. However, the size of fragment is fixed during the whole communication in the S-MAC protocol, which is probably the most well-known sensor MAC protocol for energy efficiency. In this paper, we proposed A MP-MA C protocol, an adaptive message passing MAC protocol for wireless sensor network. The proposed AMP-MAC protocol modified the message passing mechanism of SMAC protocol to make the size of small fragment adjusted according to different of the traffic load by using the information of the control packet and achieves a significant decrease in energy consumption. Besides, AMP-MAC protocol reduces the extra number of control packets and decreases the collision probability during the whole transmission. Simulations are performed to illustrate that AMP-MAC outperforms S-MAC as well as 802.11-like protocols.

The cluster-based communication protocol in wireless sensor networks can decrease the energy consumption effectively. Since the reliability of the sensing task is seldom analyzed and the data-centric sensing task focuses more on the data reliability, the RBD (Reliability Block Diagram) is used to model the data reliability of wireless sensor networks. Then the malfuntioning node is defined and researched. The scheme of annulling its potential detrimental effects of disrupting the data reliability is proposed, which combined with the modified cluster formation scheme serves as the core functions of REECP (Reliable Energy-Efficient Cluster-based Protocol). Compared with classical LEACH and SEP, simulation results show it can either prolong the effective lifetime of the network, or mitigate the error propagation in data aggregation. Due to the inherent stringent bandwidth and energy constraints, it is usually impractical to directly collect link loss statistical data from each node in sensor network. Here we consider the problem of inferring the internal link loss characteristics from end-to-end measurement. We use the Gilbert error model to model the sensor link losses, formulate the problem of link loss characteristics estimation as a Bayesian inference problem, and propose a MCMC algorithm to solve it. The simulation shows that the link loss performance parameters can be inferred accurately, and the proposed algorithm scales well according to the sensor network size.

Energy limitation is a crucial problem in wireless sensor networks. The researches show that the energy is mainly consumed during data transmission. However, data aggregation can make an optimization of the apperceiving data to constrain the redundancy data for avoiding unnecessary energy consumption. Generally, a sensor node is combined with diversified sensors, hence, it is unreasonable to collect and transmit the sensing data in same frequency. This paper proposed a kind of adaptive classified data aggregation arithmetic which can classify (he different sensing data, control the transmission according to the dynamically threshold set, and complete the data aggregation by adjusting data quantity along the transmission path. Different sets of parameters were conducted in these experiments to test the property of sensor network adopting the proposed arithmetic. The experiment results have verified the efficient energy utilization.

Wireless sensor networks are being widely deployed for measurement, detection, and monitoring applications. Nodes in a sensor network typically have a limited power supply, thus energy-efficient processing of the queries over the network is a critical issue. This paper proposed a power efficient data query processing protocol (PEDQPP) for wireless sensor networks, the main idea of PEDQPP is that we mark the sensor area with virtual grid, sensors that are located in the same cell of the virtual grid form a sensor cluster. Cluster head can aggregate and store sensing data. Once a query task is flooded into the sensor network, a minimum spanning tree (MST) will be formed with the base station as root and all the cluster heads as children. The query task floods only along the MST and the query results forward back to the base station from the leaves of the MST Simulation results show that PEDQPP can reduce the energy consumption and prolong the lifetime of wireless sensor networks.
