We studied the reactive power control strategy of distributed energy storage in distribution systems, improved reactive power support capacity, and enhanced system reliability and new energy carrying capacity. Firstly, the principles and methods of reactive power optimization in distribution networks are studied. Then, the principles and mechanisms of distributed energy storage participating in reactive power control in distribution networks are studied. Finally, the genetic algorithm optimization method for reactive power optimization in distribution networks is studied, including parameter setting, target selection, and genetic strategy improvement, providing support for fine control of reactive power and voltage in distribution systems and efficient operation. Through simulation analysis of the ieee33 node system, it is shown that distributed energy storage can improve the reactive voltage level of the distribution system and promote the consumption of new energy. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Environmental considerations necessitate the use of Photovoltaics (PV) for electricity generation by end users. One limiting factor towards rapid expansion of this technology is the fact that PVs often take up space that is useful in the primary sector (agriculture). In this context, solutions promoting the combined use of farming and PV generation have been proposed. These solutions are often referred to as agri-PVs. As an emerging approach, agri-PVs require a more systematic analysis and deployment framework. Depending on the crop type, one could possibly optimize the design in order to improve the local crop conditions (microclimate), exploit previously untapped resources and still achieve a substantial amount of local and environmentally friendly electricity generation, to cope with climate change. In line with this, the EU project SolaHub attempts to define a relevant framework for optimizing the yield of a variety of crops such as vines and peach trees. © 2024 ieee.

Ever since the introduction of Bitcoin, the first and largest cryptocurrency, blockchain technology has successfully made a name for itself as the foundation of digital currencies. It wasn't just used to decentralize money and payments. It is also used to decentralize markets more generally. All types of contracts can be registered, confirmed and transmitted to other network participants via a distributed ledger powered by blockchain technology. This research offers a thorough review of cutting-edge blockchain-related applications that have been written about in the literature. Based on their contributions to the pool of knowledge around blockchain, several published books have been thoughtfully included. The increased deployment of distributed generators (DGs) in distribution networks has brought new challenges to power system protection coordination. With multiple generation sources supplying the distribution network, the conventional protective devices that were designed for centralized generation may not be sufficient to ensure proper protection coordination in case of fault. This research provides an overview of the impact of distributed generations (DGs) on protection coordination in distribution networks, as well as an analysis of the different approaches that can be used to select and coordinate protection systems in the presence or absence of DGs. The proposed approach for selecting the optimal overcurrent (O/C) relays for protection coordination takes into account various relay characteristics and uses the Teaching Learning Based Optimization (TLBO) algorithm to determine the best combination of relays for achieving optimal coordination. Optimization of the zones of distance relays is also done and proper coordination time interval (CTI) of 0.2s or more is maintained. The optimization results are tested and validated in Electrical Transient Analyzer Program (ETAP). The effectiveness of the proposed method for achieving optimal coordination in practical power system networks like ieee-9 bus test system is demonstrated through simulation results, which show that the method can produce feasible and effective solutions. © 2023 ieee.

Engineering and programming approaches for collective adaptive systems often leverage ensemble-like abstractions to characterise a subset of devices as a domain for a given task or computation. In this paper, we address the problem of programming the dynamic evolution of distributed computational aggregates, through neighbour-based coordination. This is a problem of interest, since several situated activities (especially in large-scale settings) require decentralised collaboration, and need to be sustained by limited subsets of devices. These subsets may vary dynamically due to delegation, completion of local contributions, exhaustion of resources, failure, or change in the device set induced by the openness of system boundaries. In order to study and develop how distributed aggregates progressively take form by local coordination, we build on the field-based framework of aggregate processes, and extend it with techniques to support more expressive evolution dynamics. We propose novel algorithms for more effective propagation and closure of the boundaries of dynamic aggregates, based on statistics on the information speed and a notion of progressive closure through wave-like propagation. We verify the proposed techniques by simulation of a paradigmatic case study of multi-hop message delivery in mobile settings, and show increased performance and success rate with respect to previous work.

With the development of network technologies, network intrusion has become increasing complex which makes the intrusion detection challenging. Traditional intrusion detection algorithms detect intrusion traffic through intrusion traffic characteristics or machine learning. These methods are inefficient due to the dependence of manual work. Therefore, in order to improve the efficiency and the accuracy, we propose an intrusion detection method based on deep learning. We integrate the Transformer and LSTM module with intrusion detection model to automatically detect network intrusion. The Transformer and LSTM can capture the temporal information of the traffic data which benefits to distinguish the abnormal data from normal data. We conduct experiments on the publicly available NSL-KDD dataset to evaluate the performance of our proposed model. The experimental results show that the proposed model outperforms other deep learning based models. © 2023 ieee.

Energy resources that offer substantial environmental benefits while also producing minimal economic impact are highly valued. Photovoltaic (PV) energy is an infinite, non-polluting energy resource that can be economically utilized to meet energy requirements. The study examines the technical and economic viability of a grid-connected PV system. To explore the influence of photovoltaic benefits on grid voltage support, a seven-bus power system model is created and analyzed using simulation software. Furthermore, the benefits of grid-connected solar PV systems in transmission and distribution, as well as line extension in rural areas of developing countries and consumers, are highlighted using literature reviews. The study concludes with an assessment of the technical and economic feasibility of the examined PV system profitability depending on the system site location, household load size, consumer energy cost, and existing PV subsidies. © 2024 ieee.

Privacy preservation in distributed deep learning (DDL) has received a lot of attention recently. One key approach to preserving privacy for DDL is the use of Homomorphic Encryption (HE), which allows computation on ciphertexts without decryption. Although current applications of HE provide some level of privacy to DDL, they are not post-quantum resistant and multi-key compliant. The use of same key by all participants could lead to collusion attacks and possible leakage of sensitive information from a participant's local dataset in the distributed deep learning setting. Furthermore, most of the privacy solutions provided for the DDL assume that all learning participants must be present before the start of the protocol. Hence, such solutions do not allow a new participant to benefit from the utility of the joint learning of other participants, for which it was not present. To address the above problems, we propose a new privacy preserving solution for DDL that uses an LWE-based Multi-key approach. Our proposed privacy preserving DDL solution is multi-key compliant, post-quantum resistant and has an additional property of allowing a new participant to benefit from the utility of an already trained collaborative deep learning system. We prove that our privacy-preserving distributed deep learning system is secured. We note that our proposed solution generally provides a robust privacy-preserving solution for the DDL and at the same time has great potential to reduce communication and computation costs associated with similar systems. © 2021 ieee.

In recent years, Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) has attracted increasing interest for sensing applications, due to its unique fiber structure which offers many advantages such as immunity towards Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI), rugged structure, high sensitivity, and accuracy. Moreover, the FBG temperature sensor has greater sensitivity and inexpensive price, therefore it is increasingly used in several industrial applications. In this article, the design, construction, calibration, and testing of an FBG temperature sensor probe are presented with detailed experimental analysis. Due to passive characteristics, these sensors do not influence EMI during sensing. Therefore, it will be the best possible choice for high magnetics field areas like Aluminum electrolysis cells in potlines. The static characteristics of the FBG temperature sensor such as precision, sensitivity, accuracy, linearity, etc. are presented. A rod-type temperature sensor with a high resolution of 0.2051°C and higher sensitivity of 13 pm/°C has been discussed. In a broad frequency range, the proposed sensor demonstrates outstanding temperature sensitivity with enhanced characteristics. In the Fial section, the difficulties and potential of FBG sensors for sensing applications are discussed. © 2022 ieee.
