Network Function Virtualization (NFV) is an emerging architecture that leverages virtualization technology to decouple software from hardware. The management of virtual network functions (VNFs) poses a significant challenge in NFV, given the dynamic nature of the system. Resource allocation to VNFs must adjust to accommodate varying traffic loads, but this process can lead to substantial delays. To address this issue, resource estimation models can be applied to predict the resources required for each VNF and optimize dynamic resource allocation. Our study utilized machine learning (ML) techniques to train models using real data from VNFs, encompassing performance metrics and resource needs. The models, once trained, were successful in accurately forecasting the necessary resources for handling particular traffic loads concerning each VNF. The evaluation utilizing real-world data demonstrates the importance of selecting a good model for dynamic resource allocation by contrasting seventeen different ML algorithms with a common fixed allocation model. Using FRA in particular could lead to significant resource over-allocation, a high number of VNF instances, and needless high delay, all of which could lead to high prices and poor service quality. Although linear approximation performs admirably in the assessment, more potent techniques like KNN, SVR, or Boosting outperform it because they can more precisely forecast the actual VNF resource requirements. Overall, using ML to allocate resources dynamically can help cut down on resource waste while enhancing service quality. © 2023 ieee.

Multi-sensor multi-target tracking (MTT) with dense group clutter is facing great challenges in data fusion. One is the high computational complexity caused by the dense group clutter;another is that existing fusion algorithms do not have uniform fusion guidelines. To handle these problems, we present a novel multi-sensor MTT algorithm in this paper, which is based on the generalized labeled multi-Bernoulli (GLMB) filter and distributed deep neural networks (DNN) track fusion under the multi-sensor (MS) system, named the MS-GLMB-DNN algorithm. Firstly, a clutter pre-processing is elaborated, it is based on a CFDP (cluster by finding density peaks) algorithm to reduce the effect of the dense group clutter. Then, the GLMB filter is applied to the DNN track fusion framework for effectively fusing various local tracks. Experimental results indicate that, compared with the commonly used covariance intersection (CI) fusion algorithm, the proposed algorithm can effectively eliminate the effect of clutter on target tracking results, reduce computational complexity, and improve tracking accuracy. © Beijing HIWING Scientific and Technological Information Institute 2024.

The development generally drives the evolution of modern systems towards distributed ones, generally, in blockchain and distributed Ledger Technology domains. Ensuring the reliable digital signature of messages and the data security of messages signed with a digital signature from unauthorized interference is an essential part of enabling the operation of the paradigms as mentioned earlier. This work proposes a method for signing messages in the distributed system by introducing a two level nodes' hierarchy, distribution of the Public Key Generator (PKG) master key the nodes of the second level so that a distributed PKG threshold scheme is formed from those. Further, one or more second-layer leaders are selected by the nodes of the first message level in such a way that the aggregate content of the messages determines the value of the current identifier and, thus, the public key are formed by the nodes of the second level forming a distributed threshold PKG, shares of the session secret key corresponding to the identifier and the public key. The session secret key is recovered by one or more second level nodes selected as the leader, and the current message is signed using the corresponding session secret key.

In the field of robotics, integration has been one of the major challenges due to the complex architecture of hardware and software. The extended scale and scope of the robots make the robot software development complex. Robotic Operating System (ROS) solves the problem by serving as a flexible framework for robot software development. With easy access to code, robots with ROS became reachable to more around the world. This paper proposes the implementation of an autonomous mobile robot based on ROS. The system utilizes an ultrasonic sensor and also exploits the possibility of using BGT60TR13C, a Frequency Modulated Continuous-wave (FMCW) radar sensor for obstacle detection. All the tasks have been performed on a four-wheeled cart mobile robot with Raspberry pi pre-installed with ROS, ultrasonic sensor, radar, and motor driver. The ultrasonic sensor and radar can detect the obstacles and calculate the range of the obstacle. This range information is used to decide the movement direction and signals are sent to the motor driver through the Raspberry pi. The robot can move around the indoor environment using the sensors and an onboard single-board computer. © 2022 ieee.

For control of seismic responses of structures, in contemporary research, either state feedback (i. e., displacement and velocity at each degree of freedom) or acceleration feedback is used. Even for full state feedback, the states of the system are generally estimated from homogeneous acceleration data as accelerometers do not require a local reference like displacement and velocity sensors. Like accelerometers, strain sensors (such as foil-type strain gauges) also do not require local references. This study considers the fusion of acceleration and strain data for H-2 based seismic control of structural systems. A four-story lumped mass shear building model subjected to a seismic input is used to elucidate the efficacy of the proposed control scheme. It has been found that the proposed acceleration-strain feedback algorithm is highly effective for better control of seismic responses of structures.

The decrease in fossil fuel reserves has prompted a global move toward distributed energy resources. For this reason, solar PV power generation has recently gained much attention as a feasible renewable energy source. However, large-scale generation is challenging if there are anomalies in individual solar PV panels. This will reduce the efficiency of the PV system and create a potential fire hazard. In this perspective, the anomaly detection technique discloses system anomalies accurately and effectively. Identified anomalies will localize the event for an improved generation. This paper addresses the performance analysis of using the isolation forest technique to identify anomalies in the PV system and the rule-based fault localization technique to identify defective panel events. In the developed model, the isolation forest technique found around 453 anomalies in 45,740 observations, and approximately six panels indicated a fault in the system. The accuracy score is found to be approximately 0.9886. The proposed fault detection method will help detect the faults in solar power systems. © 2023 ieee.

This project aims to mature a Driver Snoozing System (DSS) that provide alertness to drivers when they are fatigue, both in day time and night time. A regular camera is used to monitor the driver's face and eyes to check their alertness level. The system sounds an alarm when it detects signs of tiredness. This system's main goals are to improve traffic flow, avoid accidents caused by tired drivers, warn drivers in advance, and reduce the financial burden of traffic accidents. Additionally, it will lessen the strain on healthcare systems, aid in preventing traffic-related injuries and fatalities, and enhance the quality of life for people and communities. The purpose of this study was to create a technological solution for the problem of drowsy driving, which is a major risk for road safety and a common cause of accidents. In this article, the proposed Driver Snoozing System comprises of Infrared sensor and camera which can potentially reduce the accidents caused by driver fatigue because it can identify sleepy driving both in the daytime and at nighttime. Despite some limitations, it can potentially improve traffic safety and reduce the financial expense of accidents. More research and development are needed to make it more accurate and effective. © 2023 ieee.

LoRa (Long Range) networks tend to be a prevailing technology for smart buildings applications. Its Chirp Spread Spectrum (CSS) modulation technique allows for higher receiver sensitivity. However, its unstable behaviour in terms of electromagnetic propagation motivated this paper to assess the influence of these parameters under temperature and humidity variations on the reliability of LoRa connectivity. The current work suggests a method that takes into consideration the indoor fluctuation of temperature and humidity. The current method is based on the Multi-Wall propagation Model (MW M) aiming at path loss calculation. Simulation results were verified with real-life measurements carried out in a Neapolis University Pafos (NU P) building. The simulation results are in good agreement with the measured data. Nevertheless, the study revealed that the environmental factors of temperature and humidity have a smooth effect on indoor path loss calculation.

Currently, the scale of dc distributed power systems (DPSs) keeps growing, which makes the number of the buses larger and the stability analysis more complex. In this paper, impedance and admittance specifications of multi-voltage-level dc DPS that restricts impedance or admittance of the bus-connected converters or subsystems and the transfer function of intermediate bus converter (IBC) is proposed and studied. A two-voltage-level dc DPS experiment platform is constructed to verify the specifications. It is proved that the specifications are able to ensure the stability of the multi-voltage-level dc DPS, and thus guarantee the designing process of the parameters are decoupled and decentralized. It solves the problems of the cost and the timeliness of every converter, subsystem and IBC's information transmission and the curse of dimensionality that extensively exist in the stability analysis of multi-voltage-level dc DPSs. © 2022 ieee.
