Designing gesture-based collaborative and interactive systems using new technologies has shown noticeable potential for educational purposes and could enhance the memorability of digital contents. In this paper, we present a quality framework and a new combination of modalities to recognise different types of human gestures. The outcome can be used in future classroom designs by replacing expensive smartboards which are physically limited to a fixed place. We also propose a framework based on Norman's theory of action for interactive collaborative systems. This framework has been tested by a combination of Microsoft Kinect and a smartphone's built-in gyroscope together with two types of interfaces in an educational environment. The results proved the improvement of participant's interactivity and participation by changes in five pedagogical factors in different groups of the study and specifically in higher ages.

Geometry-related software is increasingly important in computational science and visual computing. Engineering such software is particularly challenging due to the size and complexity of the data it operates on. In this paper we present VESTIGE, a framework that employs visualization to address that challenge. VESTIGE targets four software engineering activities: (1) visualization-guided development, (2) monitoring and bug detection, (3) test oracle generation, and (4) debugging. We present five scenarios from our real-life experience as developers of geometry-related software that show how VESTIGE helps to improve the software development process. Integrating VESTIGE into the development workflow takes little effort and can have significant benefits.

Mobile Cloud computing has shown its capability to support mobile devices for provisioning computing, storage and communication resources. Many existing research has proposed to offload computation tasks from mobile devices to clouds in order to reduce energy consumption, where the offloading service model is usually one-to-one. Due to the development of mobile sensing and location-based mobile cloud services, the cloud edge has been extended to the mobile devices and sensors. As a result, the one-to-one model is not sufficient to model the dynamic changes of mobile cloud-based services. Thus, a many-to-many (or multi-site) mobile cloud service composition is highly desired. In this research, MoSeC is presented to model the many-to-many mobile cloud service composition, where there are multiple surrogates, such as cloud computing nodes, mobile devices, or sensors, and their services (i.e., computation, storage, sensing, etc.) can be composed to fulfill functions required by a mobile service requestor. MoSeC takes into considerations the surrogates' changes due to their mobility and resource constraints. Moreover, MoSeC takes into considerations several service metrics for service mapping (or allocation) through a mobile cloud service topology reconfiguration process. A set of algorithms are presented to address the Service Topology Reconfiguration Problem (STRP) in several mobile cloud representative application scenarios, i.e., they are modeled as finite horizon scenarios, infinite horizon scenarios, and large state space scenarios to represent ad hoc, long-term, and large-scale mobile cloud service composition scenarios, respectively.

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are a relatively new type of online courses characterized by their ability to reach massive amounts of learners. Open Educational Resources (OERs) are freely available, openly licensed materials that are useful for teaching, learning, and research. In the last years, both MOOCs and OERs have steadily increased its presence in online learning, especially in higher education. Their massive and open reach have also raised the need of designing them accessible to learners with disabilities. Nevertheless, new approaches are necessary to use them successfully in the context of corporate training where the goal is to facilitate employees learning of job-related competencies within their company culture and goals. This paper proposes an ecosystem to have a sustainable mechanism to enable accessible MOOCs and OERs deployment in corporate training contexts. The proposed ecosystem includes three stages: develop, publish and improve.

In cloud computing, geographic location of data is one of major security concerns of cloud users. To resolve this problem, most of previous work has been done on trusted relocation service in cloud service providers. For example, users are allowed to determine the physical location of their cloud servers and ensured about their requirements of relocation-based restrictions. However, it is also essential to handle trusted relocation service at cloud users' devices in mobile cloud computing. As mobile cloud tenants use cloud services everywhere, trusted relocation of cloud users arises a new security issue. Thus, in this paper, we present a novel trusted relocation system named Devisor for cloud user devices. The key mechanism of Devisor is providing a trusted channel between the relocation server and the GPS module in each mobile client device. We leverage Trusted Platform Module (TPM) and tiny hyper visor in order to securely perform the attestation of the relocation of client devices. To prove the practicality of Devisor, we design and implement a cloud word processor with trusted relocation service based on Ether pad. We also evaluate the performance of Devisor in cloud devices and show that it causes only 8.3% overhead in JavaScript benchmark, which indicates the feasibility of TGVisor.

Financial Technology (Fin Tech) has become a pivotal subject in both academic and industry discourse over the past decade, with over 115,000 scholarly articles in the Web of Science (WoS) database and millions of news articles on platforms like Yahoo Finance. However, the majority of literature has examined only one aspect of these discussions, which hinders the progress and market entry of new Fin Tech innovations, thereby restricting the potential for technological advancement and industry transformation. This paper innovatively proposes a combined literature analysis from both academic and market perspectives. A bibliometric analysis of 3,255 academic articles on Fin Tech from the WoS database, covering the period from 2015 to 2024, was conducted. Additionally, Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques, including keyword extraction and sentiment analysis, were utilized to explore the characteristics of 1,208 news articles on FinTech, sourced from Yahoo Finance from 2020 to 2024. A comprehensive model was developed to explore the characteristics of keywords and their involvement in both academic and market contexts. This approach has uncovered some key themes related to FinTech and provides a comprehensive overview of the connections between academia and the market.
