Aimed at the characteristics of strong nonlinearity, uncertainty, time-variance and, strong coupling etc for AC electric arc furnace (EAF), and the traditional PID can not achieve desired control effect. The paper proposes a PID control algorithm based on optimized BP neural network using genetic algorithm, which is applied in electrode regulator systems of electric arc furnace to design the optimized controller. The algorithm optimizes the initial weights of BP neural network by using genetic algorithm firstly, and then adjusts the PID parameters by using BP neural network. The simulation indicates that the algorithm is feasible, and unit with intelligent PID controller has better accuracy and dynamic characteristics. © 2011 ieee.

Common coverage criteria for software testing, such as branch coverage and statement coverage, are often used to evaluate the adequacy of test cases created by automatic security testing methods. However, these criteria were not originally defined for security testing. In this paper., we discuss the limitation of traditional criteria and present a study on a new criterion called security sensitive data flow coverage. This criterion aims to show how well test cases cover security sensitive data flows. We conducted an experiment of automatic security testing of real-world web applications to evaluate the effectiveness of our proposed coverage criterion, which is intended to guide test case generation. The experiment results show that security sensitive data flow coverage helps reduce test cost while keeping the effectiveness of vulnerability detection high.

In the paper, we present the system framework of the welcoming robot that used in the campus classroom building, including overall performance, mechanical design, control system components, software architecture and implementation plan, prototype test results. Its application on campus is conducive to teaching and practice in schools, and it services for students and visiting guests. Experimental results show that the stability and reliability of the actual robot system, and the autonomy movement and obstacle avoidance achieved in the campus corridor environment. © 2011 ieee.

The field of Visual Analytics attempts to identify phenomena, guidelines, and algorithms to generate images suitable to communicate information efficiently and effectively. The benefit of using information visualizations is that the represented data can be quickly perceived and comprehended by the viewer. Research of novel visualization and interaction techniques in the context of three-dimensional computer graphics requires interactive computer systems. To this end, a component-oriented software framework is presented in this contribution. Bildsprache LiveLab (BiLL) allows independent implementation and combination of different components. Each component is responsible for various tasks in the context of investigating images of three-dimensional scenes. Two case studies covering multiperspective and color perspective illustrate the application of BiLL and its potential as an experimental environment for visualizing user-centered projections of three-dimensional scenes. The reliability analysis of web services is often focused on the web service components, ignoring the impact of the middleware located beneath the web services. A service-based software system is a multilayered system that includes the web service (WS), shared resources, and the hosting application server (AS). It is conjectured that the reliability prediction of the web services is improved if the reliability model accounts for such underlying layers. The initial experiment illustrates that the AS and shared resources can impact the overall reliability of web services greatly. This observation is demonstrated by simulating the interaction between a web service and the AS. © 2011 ACM.

The ARM Cortex™-A8 processor is a high-performance, low-power, cached application processor that implements ARMv7-A architecture and provides full virtual memory capabilities. This paper describes the process of booting S5PC100 processor integrating an ARM Cortex™-A8, briefly introduces hardware environment of the target board cored with S5PC100 processor and an approach to build software developing environment for this embedded system, especially analyzes the process of U-Boot booting based on S5PC100 processor and the major steps of transplanting U-Boot to the target platform. In recent years more and more cities are planning to construct crime preventing systems in order to reduce the loss caused by risks. There are many kinds of crime preventing systems with different variety and price in the market so far. It is the problem that each decision-maker faces jointly that how to select a crime preventing system for a city which would be a perfect fit. From the stand point of decision-makers, this paper proposed an investment decision-making model for the construction of crime preventing systems. This model measures the quality of a crime prevention system through expected monetary values of the economic loss caused by risks. This article also introduced two decision-making methods, which were optimistic rule and pessimistic rule. Finally this paper proved the model reasonable through an actual application. © 2011 ieee.

Cloud computing paradigm allows on-demand access to computing and storages services over the Internet. To solve the complexity of application deployment in Cloud infrastructure, virtual appliances, pre-configured, ready-to-run applications are emerging as a breakthrough technology. However, an automated approach for deploying network of appliances is required to guarantee minimum deployment cost, low latency, and high reliability. In this paper, we propose and compare two different deployment approaches: Forward-checking-based backtracking (FCBB) and genetic-based. They take into account Quality of Service (QoS) criteria such as reliability, data communication cost, and latency between multiple Clouds to choose the most appropriate combination of virtual machines and appliances. We evaluate our approach using a real case study and different request types. Experimental results show both algorithms reach near optimal solution. Further, we investigate effects of factors such as latency requirements, and data communication between appliances on the performance of the algorithms and placement of appliances across multiple Clouds. © 2011 ieee.

The MediaEvo Project aims to develop a multichannel and multi-sensory platform for edutainment in cultural heritage for the realization of a digital didactic game oriented towards the knowledge of medieval history and society by means of the integration of human sciences and new data processing technologies. During the project it has been possible to test the possible interactions between historical research, morphological inquiries, data management systems and the definition of a virtual immersive platform for playing and educating. The platform has also proved to be a means for validating hypotheses and findings formulated by researchers. This paper introduces the theoretical questions related to the educative use of Virtual Reality technology and describes the steps of the reconstruction of the town of Otranto in the Middle Ages: data collection and integration, organization of work, peripherals and software applications. © 2011 ieee.
