A neurophysiological detector (NPD) is a hybridization of olfactory system neurons of the fish crucian carp, Carassius carassius L., with a computerized electronic device connected to a high-performance liquid chromatograph (HPLC). This system makes it possible to measure neurophysiological activities in the olfactory system of C. carassius L. after exposure of this fish to alarm pheromones. The construction of the system was presented for the first time at the 3rd International symposium on Separation in Bio Sciences SBS 2003 in I. In the present study, an HPLC equipped with an NPD was used to assess the influence of organophosphate (OP) pesticides on olfactory sensory nerves and the modification of nerve signals from the olfactory organ. In this work, a fuel cell hybrid electric source is presented. The energy management among different components is assured by applying a control algorithm based on the nonlinear flatness principle. The studied hybrid sources use fuel cells (polymer electrolyte membrane technology) and lithium-ion batteries as main and auxiliary sources. The goal is to supply domestic load (a house), maintain the DC bus (assuring power segmentation) voltage to the imposed reference value and calculate how many moles and grams of H 2 and O 2 are consumed. Presented results are obtained using MATLAB/Simulink simulation environment.

This paper presents a dynamic model representing the rigid body motion of a four wheel steer and four wheel drive (4WS4WD) vehicle which also takes into account the rotational dynamics of the individual wheels as well as the tyre terrain interactions. It also presents a modified pursuit algorithm taking into account the kinematic constraints as well as a decentralized wheel propulsion control system. Simulation results are presented to show the model validation and the successful implementation of the path tracking algorithm.

Drug-eluting stents have significantly improved the treatment of coronary artery disease. Compared with their bare metal predecessors, they offer reduced rates of restenosis and thus represent the current gold standard in percutaneous coronary interventions. Drug-eluting stents have been around for over a decade, and while progress is continually being made, they are not suitable in all patients and lesion types. Furthermore there are still real concerns over incomplete healing and late stent thrombosis. In this paper, some modelling approaches are reviewed and the future of modelling and simulation in this field is discussed.

The launch of the new programming period of the EU in 2014 will lead to many changes in the way the EU budget is funded. The European Commission is considering various ways to generate their own income to make it more independent of the Member States. Unfortunately the consequences of the reforms might have negative influence to European and in particular to the Bulgarian economy and especially for SMEs. The effective results in these conditions are to ensure financial resources for SMEs beneficiaries - increasing the amount of advance payments, creating additional financial instruments. Prior to SMEs financing, a methodology for analysis of creditworthiness and credit risk assessment procedures are applied. The aim of the methodology is to contribute and establish an unified and systematic approach to analyzing and assessing credit risk, which is to lead to a more thorough and objective assessment of the credit and minimize the risk undertaken by the financial institution. The system of credit risk assessment is a collaboration of estimates of the specified indicators. The final conclusion of the process should result into a motivated standpoint, based on which, a decision on further conduct of the Bank towards the loan request will be made (guarantees and other commitments, bearing credit risk), along with periodic risk assessment procedure on already granted loans. In this paper is provided an analysis using the Generalized Nets. They are used as a tool for modelling of different processes in industries and medicine. In the present paper, an application of these nets apparatus for assistive technology and the advantages of using such model, for SMEs financial support mechanism are discussed.

In a previous work, we developed a general purpose framework to support the three-dimensional reconstruction, rendering and processing of biomedical images, 3D Bio-IPF. In this paper we present a structured component of 3D Bio-IPF, the plug-in Implant, to model customised dental implants on a three-dimensional representation of the oral cavity derived from diagnostic images. The proposed tool was tested on different cases and a result is reported. It has been proven it is very effective for dental surgery planning, implant design and positioning. Moreover, if integrated with a position indicator system and a numerically positionable drilling machine, it could be employed for semi-automatic surgery.

We present a novel feature-based image interpolation approach. Two continuous maps for the image domain are constructed via an L2-gradient flow based on their multi-resolution representations so that the features of the given images are matched at multiple scales. The flow equation is efficiently solved using a finite element method in the bicubic B-spline vector-valued function space. The interpolated images are then obtained from the domain maps at any sampling rate. Experimental results show that our interpolation approach is effective, capable of capturing image features from large to small. It yields continuously and uniformly deformed in-between images.

The unwanted effects of diffraction and defocus aberration in three-dimensional integral imaging are taken into account by using the Fourier optics approach. The concepts of point spread function and optical transfer function widely in use for conventional two-dimensional imaging are generalized and applied to three-dimensional integral imaging systems. The effects of diffraction and defocus aberration are then studied and the performance of the conventional single lens imaging system is compared against that of the integral imaging.
