Scene text detection has become a popular research in computer vision and pattern recognition field in recent years because of the accurate and rich information carried by scene text. Now component-based methods have become the trend, and the detection result is largely determined by the success of filtering text-like non-text regions. The main task of this paper is to reduce the time complexity without a big fall in recall. First an enhanced multi-channels MSER model is introduced: Before extracting MSER, the image is sharpened by using the Laplacian and Gaussian blur and multi-channels is utilized, then the step of the threshold used in MSER algorithm is set to the minimum in order to get more refined MSERs. Second, two novel scene text features local contrast and boundary key points are proposed to better distinguish text regions from non-text regions. Finally, a fast text grouping algorithm is achieved which reduce the time complexity. Experiments on both ICDAR 2011 and ICDAR 2013 show that the recall of the proposed method is improved by 3%.

Tire tread pattern image classification plays an important role in crime scene and traffic accident investigation. Due to the lack of standard test dataset, there is little work done in this area. For efficient texture feature description, inherent characteristic of tire patterns need to be considered. Leveraging on the directionality characteristics of tread patterns, a novel texture feature extraction algorithm is proposed based on adaptive weighted feature fusion with the weights defined by sub-band energy ratio. The proposed approach consists of: (1) discrete wavelet decomposition of tire tread image to obtain low frequency, horizontal, vertical and diagonal sub-bands; (2) extraction of rotation-invariant uniform local binary pattern features from the sub-band images; (3) concatenating the tread pattern directional features, weighted by their corresponding sub-band energies. Applying SVM for tire tread pattern classification, experimental results on real-world tire tread patterns show that the proposed texture feature extraction algorithm is outperforms other prior methods.

Skin disease is one of the diseases that are often found in tropical countries like Indonesia. Lack of knowledge about the types and prevention of skin diseases results a person suffering from acute skin diseases. Computer technology is expected to help detect disease early so that it can minimize the occurrence of more dangerous diseases. This paper proposes a method for introducing the shape, color, and texture of skin diseases in digital images and classifying the results of image analysis based on the type of disease in human skin. The method used is a combination of Local Binary pattern (LBP) and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) methods which can later be used as sensors or vision for skin diseases automatically. The results of this study can help in the early identification of skin diseases, helping parties who want to know the image value of skin diseases by using LBP and classifying it based on the type of disease using CNN. This study shows the level of accuracy of combining LBP with CNN is quite high with an average value of 92%. In addition, this research can also be used as reference material for the development of further research in image processing that uses LBP and classification using CNN.

Shoeprint is an important trace evidence in forensic science. It can provide information about age, height and sex of suspects. In order to solve the problem of individual differences in the identification of planar-shoeprint experts doing, a planar shoeprint image segmentation algorithm based on Multiplicative Intrinsic Component Optimization is proposed in this context. After segmentation, pseudo-color can be selectively used to process the segmentation image. So the pattern and wear area of sole were automatically sketched. Experimental analysis shows that this method can effectively segment the shoeprint. This provides an objective and universal shoeprint identification method for criminal investigators to narrow the scope of investigation.

The investigation for well-organized picture Deblurring techniques are still valid challenge, because of their complexities in functional analysis and statistics. In this research, a series of salt-and-pepper (SAP) noise reduction method based on star shaped search pattern that can be applicable for monochrome images is presented. A great benefit of the proposed De-blurring is robotical detection of noise position based on star shaped search pattern and replacement of noisy pixels. The proposed De-blurring is also named as star shaped search pattern-salt & pepper- image de-noising (SSSP-SP-ID). The SSSP-SP-ID system is customizable and furthermore it is easy and fast. The investigation shows that the SSSP-SP-ID Deblurring algorithm have better outcomes compared to other state-of-the-art algorithms, when the noise density (ND) is moderate or high. The performance of SSSP-SP-ID De-blurring algorithm is measured using quantitative performance measures such as peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), structure similarity index measure (SSIM) and image enhancement factor (IEF).

A novel pattern recognition technique has been deployed in the treatment of cancer tumours to provide improved targeting of ionising radiation and more accurate measurement of the radiation dose. The radiation beams enter the body from different directions to concentrate on the tumour. The centre of the tumour has to be precisely located relatively to patient's skin surface, so the radiation does not affect healthy tissue and produces successful treatment. Existing methods of 3D dose measurement are highly labor-intensive and generally suffer from low accuracy. In this publication, we propose a new method of 3D measurement of the dose in real-time by using skin pattern recognition technology. The textural pattern of the patient's skin is analysed from an image sensor in a specially designed camera using Fractal Geometry and Fuzzy logic. A specially designed net sensor is then placed over the area of skin exposed to the treatment in order to measure the radiation dose. The algorithms discussed below enable the precise focussing of the radiation. The novel object recognition technique provides a mathematical tool to build a volume model of the dose distribution inside the patient's body. This paper provides an overview and specific information on the technology and necessary background for future industrial implementation into health care infrastructure.

Today, the environment around the world is threatened by the activity of humankind and its impacts have been increased by continuous utilization and exploitation of natural resources. Also, the increasing market share of automotive industry forces companies to seek environmentally friendly products or processes. The previous study has been conducted to study a consequence from improving greener products or processes. This study aims to identify a set of factors, from the previous perspective, for the automotive manufacturer. By performing the frequency analysis among 30 automotive related significant studies, the result confirms 12 factors: including Budget, Government Incentive, Corporate Social Responsibility, Training, Competitor, Material Availability, Energy Saving Carbon Dioxide Emission, Green Standard, Green image, Green Customer and Safety. These 12 factors will be further used to develop a model to study the pattern and trend of the future automotive industry in Thailand.

Domain Adaptation is an actively researched problem in Computer Vision. In this work, we propose an approach that leverages unsupervised data to bring the source and target distributions closer in a learned joint feature space. We accomplish this by inducing a symbiotic relationship between the learned embedding and a generative adversarial network. This is in contrast to methods which use the adversarial framework for realistic data generation and retraining deep models with such data. We demonstrate the strength and generality of our approach by performing experiments on three different tasks with varying levels of difficulty: (1) Digit classification (MNIST, SVHN and LISPS datasets) (2) Object recognition using OFFICE dataset and (3) Domain adaptation from synthetic to real data. Our method achieves state-of-the art performance in most experimental settings and by far the only GAN-based method that has been shown to work well across different datasets such as OFFICE and DIGITS.

In the 3D measurement image processing, the grating stripe pattern is projected onto the surface of the object to be measured by the colored stripe structure light to add feature information to the object, and the high-precision 3D model is reconstructed. The key problem affecting the reconstruction accuracy is how to extract quickly and accurately of the centerline of the colored stripes in the image. In this research, The image quality of image is susceptible to environmental factors. So an improved algorithm combining color image enhancement and skeleton extraction is proposed. Firstly, the algorithm obtains the component maps of three channels by image enhancement in MATLAB. The histogram equalizes and uniformly distributes the gray values of the three-channel component images and performs color synthesis on the three channels. Finally, the center line of the image is extracted by the skeleton extraction method. Experiments show that compared with the traditional skeleton extraction algorithm, the algorithm has higher extraction precision and robustness, and provides good precision guarantee for subsequent 3D image system measurement.

While it has been shown that using 3D information might significantly benefit face anti-spoofing systems, traditional color images are still generally used, due to several issues such as expensive hardware requirement, high time cost, or poor accessibility when obtaining and using true 3D images. Thus, we could use RGB-D images captured by relatively low cost sensors instead, e.g., Kinect cameras, to achieve better performance without consuming huge amount of time or money. This research presents a novel multimodal face anti-spoofing method, which makes full use of available information on RGB-D images and no manually chosen regions are needed. For every pair of RGB-D images, first of all, we calculate the correlation between color and depth images to detect multimodal properties;then, by analyzing the consistency of sub regions extracted from the depth image, we are able to distinguish flat spoofing faces from genuine human beings. Both anti-spoofing features are fused to make final anti spoofing decisions. Experiments on both self-collected and pubic 3DMAD datasets show that our proposed approach is effective for intra-dataset and cross-dataset testing scenarios, and that our method could deal with different presentation attacks carried by photos, tablet screens, and face masks.
