This study explores energy allocation strategies for hybrid electric-hydrogen fuel cell transport trucks. The focus is optimizing the synergy between hydrogen fuel cells and batteries to balance economic viability and environmental sustainability. An improved RIME (IRIME) algorithm enhances earthmoving transport node efficiency. Addressing the limitations of traditional multi-objective optimization and dynamic constraints, a hybrid framework combining dynamic programming (DP) and IRIME is proposed. DP optimizes multi-stage transport decisions, while IRIME efficiently identifies Pareto optimal solutions. Simulations validate the approach under various scenarios, comparing it to traditional dynamic programming and other optimization techniques. Case studies demonstrate a 9% improvement in efficiency and reduced cycle time compared to traditional dynamic programming and other algorithms. © 2025 Institute of Physics Publishing. In recent years, non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) cluster analysis of multi-view data has shown outstanding results in data mining and machine learning. Multi-view data typically encompasses complementary elements from multiple perspectives. Finding a consensus solution that works for all the different views is a difficult task. This study proposes a novel NMF-based clustering method that utilizes various manifold regularizations for multi-view data to address the previously mentioned problem. In this method, the NMF will decompose the input data into the two non-negative matrices. Next, we employ the manifold scenario to preserve the geometric structure within the data. Lastly, we design the novel objective function by combining all the earlier mentioned terms and then optimize it using the iterative strategy method to achieve the optimal solution. The empirical analysis of real-world datasets indicates that the proposed method outperforms numerous existing techniques in clustering efficiency.

There has been a rapid growth of technology in parallel with the massive growth in population since the past few decades. Higher education plays a significant role in driving growing performance and competitiveness in the national and international economies in line with such growth. The graduating students from majority of the higher education institutes often possess skillsets which stand insufficient to meet the needs of the industry propelling use of additional resources to achieve industry readiness and enabling them to work on real-time projects. The present study emphasizes on the need for value-added courses to bridge such industry–academia gap. The study is conducted on engineering students and hence the role of value-added courses on Industry 4.0 and related technologies in abridging the gap is explored. At the outset, a need analysis survey is conducted on engineering undergraduate students in order to validate their understanding of the existence of industry–academia gap, the need for short-term value-added course and also specifically the need for Industry 4.0-based courses toward abridging the gap and its role in contributing toward industry readiness. Considering the results of the need analysis survey and also uniqueness of strength and weakness of each student, an Industry 4.0-based curriculum is developed in coordination with academicians and industry experts. Further, a QAA training was provided to the academic experts which enabled the contributors to adopt non-traditional patterns in the design delivery and assessment of the course. Considering the input of the academic and industry experts the value-added course was designed and developed and further approved by the boards of studies members who also belonged to both the verticals. Current cyber threats are relatively sophisticated, and this has put pressure on traditional network security protocols. It proposes an extended machine learning methodology using a supervised Random Forest algorithm for classification and an unsupervised Autoencoder for anomaly detection to improve network security measures. The consumes network traffic through a powerful preprocessing pipeline of feature selection, scaling, and encoding to increase the performance of a model. The proposed method was also tested on benchmark datasets like CICIDS2017, UNSW-NB15, and KDDCup99 with an accuracy of 98.76%, precision of 96.45%, false positive rate under 1.89%, and a latency of only 4.23ms better than other methods from 2021, 2022 and 2023. These results show that the ability of the developed framework is higher in terms of detection and more adaptable to real-world threats. It offers a transportable and secure solution for next-generation networks, which overcomes the gaps of the previous methods to make way for further developments.

This paper examines the possible factors influencing internet adoption in Nepal, using the DHS USAID 2022 dataset. Three classifier models were applied to predict internet usage behavior: mobile financial transactions in the last 12 months, frequency of internet use, and general internet usage. Balancing techniques like SMOTE and evaluation methods such as XGBoost, permutation tests, and partial dependence analysis were employed. Our analysis reveals that geographical and technological factors consistently play the most significant roles in predicting mobile and internet usage behaviors, while gender and ethnic factors have a weaker impact on usage. Moreover, our results explicate that the relationship between digital inequality and socioeconomic factors is extremely nonlinear, and far from trivial. The nonlinear patterns observed in our partial dependence analysis reveal that digital adoption in the highest-educated group of people or those living in metropolitan areas, is disproportionately higher than other segments of people.

Learning how to program can be a cumbersome task even for students who enroll in courses in the computer Science field. It is well documented that computer programming courses have high failure rates and high drop out. Even at the initial stage of computer introduction courses, novice students often reveal difficulties and strong reactions to this subject. However, computer programming has been recognized as an essential skill and a necessary element in education in many different areas. This work reflects on the experience provided by teaching a Creative programming course, being held as part of a Master's degree curriculum in School of Media Arts and Design (ESMAD), at Polytechnic of Porto (***), in Portugal. The students' background is not uniform, therefore pedagogical learning strategies had to be adapted to these multidisciplinary backgrounds to foster student attention and interest, as well as being able to achieve the goals of teaching the fundamentals of computer programming. This article reflects on the strategies to teach programming for non-informatics: drifting from the traditional functional way, like developing a program or product to solve a problem, to the usage of creative coding and generate interactive animations, while simultaneously achieving the ambitious goals of learning programming concepts and paradigms. © Terroso, Teresa;Pinto, Mario;licensed under Creative Commons License CC-BY 4.0

The paper deals with the design of a new experimental method designed to measure the understanding of the code of subjects who do not know any programming language in connection with the implementation of empirical and analytical study. The aim of this work is the analysis of students' knowledge before and after the course Basics of Algorithmization and programming at Technical University in Kosice, Slovakia, and the subsequent static analysis of their codes from one of the assignments. A systematic literature review was performed on 33 papers obtained from the ACM, IEEE and Sciencedirect databases, in order to understand in depth, the introductory programming discipline (CS1) in higher education. Recently published works have been covered, providing an overview of the teaching-learning process of introductory programming and enabling to find out whether the research developed by universities worldwide is in line with the proposals made by ACM/IEEE-CS group for computer courses, regarding the transition to the competency-based model. The results show that the new techniques/technologies currently used in software development, as an example of agile methodology, has influenced the teaching-learning process of CS1 together with methods such as visual programming and e-learning. Learning computer programming is a difficult task for most students who start learning in this field. In fact, many students refer that learning computer programming is an arduous and difficult task, presenting some fear in addressing these issues. However, the main challenge for beginners is not in the language or syntax, but in devising a solution to solve the proposed problem. On the other hand, the younger audience is used to clicking on an icon and seeing an application with an appealing interface! Thus, students are often discouraged when, in a classroom, they have to implement an algorithm to classify numbers or sequences of characters and print them, sometimes in unappealing development environments. The lack of immediate feedback on the solution proposed by the student is another aspect that promotes some demotivation, as students often have no real idea of where they went wrong and how they can improve the solution they present. This paper describes the introduction of gamification elements in an introductory programming course, based on a conceptual framework proposed by Piteira. The main objective is to motivate and involve students in the learning process, through the introduction of strategies based on gamification (such as challenges, progression and levels), as well as strategies such as problem-based learning, seeking to make teaching programming more attractive and appealing to students. Learning programming is often considered as difficult, but it would be wrong to assume that all programming topics are equally tough to learn. In this paper, we make use of a gamified programming learning environment submission repository containing records of over 9000 attempts of solving Python exercises to identify topics which pose the largest challenge for students. By comparing students' effort and progress among sets of exercises assigned to respective topics, two topics emerged as especially difficult (Object-oriented programming and Classic algorithms). Also interesting are the identified differences between genders (indicating female students to fare better than male at the initial topics, and the opposite for the most advanced topics), and the scale of effort some students put to succeed with the most difficult exercises (sometimes solved only after tens of failed attempts). © Szydlowska, Justyna;Miernik, Filip;Ignasiak, Marzena Sylwia;Swacha,Jakub;licensed under Creative Commons License CC-BY 4.0
