This paper presents the problem of the programming learning and presents the use of Scratch programming language to ease the process of learning to program, linked to the knowledge production of other disciplines, using Piaget as the background for the reflections. The Scratch language was first used in programming I discipline in the Integrated computer Science Course at Instituto Federal Farroupilha - Campus Santo Augusto and, as a result of the initial work, a huge involvement of the students is perceived, making learning more attractive and changing that "bogey" look of the program.

Two models of the maturity exams in information technologies have been developed in Lithuania. The first one is intended to evaluate the students' skills for using information and communication technologies (ICT). Another is focused on programming skills and is intended to promote the professional studies (informatics) in higher education. The first national exam in information technologies (programming) was launched in 2006. The exam consists of a set of tests (questions of IT and questions of programming) and two practical programming tasks. The goal of practical tasks is to create programs for given tasks. Developing programs is one of the most important parts of the exam and also one of the most difficult tasks for students. The paper deals with solutions of practical tasks - students' developed programs during the national exams in information technologies (programming) in 2006 and 2007.

Genetic programming (GP) based symbolic regression is a powerful technique for white-box modelling. However, the prediction uncertainties of the symbolic regression are still unknown. This paper proposes to use Kriging to model the residual of a symbolic expression. The residual model follows a normal distribution with parameters of a mean value and a standard deviation, where the mean value can be used to regulate the prediction and the standard deviation represents the uncertainties of residuals in a specific symbolic expression. The proposed algorithms are compared with a canonical GP-based symbolic regression and Kriging regression on three benchmarks in symbolic regression field. The results show that the proposed algorithm significantly outperforms the other two algorithms on the three benchmarks w.r.t. mean squared error in the test dataset with a small generation budget.
