Digital phenotyping presents a very important tool for scientists to measure with high accuracy the effects of external phenomena on plant development. Plant phenotyping is mainly based on imaging techniques. However, the number of images and parameters used to store and treat these parameters are continuously growing. Consequently, the high-throughput of data and the need of specific treatment in real or near real-time requires a large quantity of resources. Moreover, the increasing amount of particular phenotyping case studies needs the development of specific application. cloud architectures offers means to store a wide range of numerous data and host a large quantity of specific software to process these data. In this paper, we propose a new approach that shows how logic synthesis works to match digital phenotyping need and cloud possibilities in a lambda cloud architecture in order to store and treat this important amount of data in real time. We also suggest a data platform allowing to host applications and access to the stored data within the lambda architecture. The present application platform allows to use several frameworks with a fine-grained resource use of the cluster. Finally, we develop a case study in a controlled environment system (growth chamber) where we grow basil plants.

Traffic measurement is critical for many network applications, such as traffic accounting, anomaly detection. One central problem is to identify heavy hitters, flow size of which is more than the given threshold or the certain percentage of total network traffic in the measurement interval. According to low accuracy and memory utilization for traditional methods, we propose an identification algorithm of heavy hitters with probabilistic sketch in high-speed networks (for short HHS) Since the probabilistic sketch consists of a few bit vectors, data updating only needs a small amount of calculation. It can estimate flow size by probabilistic counting approach approximately. Moreover, in order to improve the identification accuracy of heavy hitters, we introduce confidence interval to estimate flow size. We use real network traffic to evaluate the performance of the proposed method. The experimental results illustrate that our method can estimate flow size accurately and identify heavy hitters effectively.

There is an ever-growing body of facial tracking assessment applications available within the health and wellness sector. One of the most prominent areas is the use of 3D cameras and processing technologies in the development of rehabilitation interventions and in the measurement of health outcomes. Recent advancements in facial tracking applications within mobile platforms and cloud computing analytics suggests that new clinical assessment and human computer assessment technologies have significant future potential for pervasive in-clinic and field-based health assessment solutions. This paper reviews the technical capabilities of three facial tracking platforms with a focus on the common issues relating to clinical measurement considerations required for patient-facing systems. Key factors are assessed in relation to 3D camera platforms, mobile applications and cloud computing applications including camera position, lighting and shadows, eye detection and common obstructions or features that affect tracking. Published examples of facial tracking clinical and health wellness applications are presented in relation to human computer interaction interfaces. This paper aims to demonstrate the potential for future applications being developed relating to each of these technologies for clinic-based applications. © 2018.

Context-awareness is crucial for leveraging energy-efficient buildings by developing intelligent control approaches in which sensing and actuation tasks are performed according to the contextual changes. This could be done by including the users' actions and behaviours in up-to-date context taking into account the complex interlinked elements, situations, processes, and their dynamics. In this paper, we introduce a holistic platform that integrates recent sensing/actuating and Big data technologies for monitoring and data processing. The main aim is to develop context-driven control approaches whereby energy consumption, production, and storage could be controlled according to actual situations (e.g., occupancy, occupant behaviour patterns, energy production patterns, and weather data). A platform prototype was deployed in our university test site. Experiments have been conducted and preliminary results show the usefulness of this holistic platform for monitoring and data processing in energy efficient buildings.

Autonomous monitoring of electricity consumption requires a metering platform for recording and processing electrical data. Recent advances in IoT tools and Big data technologies allow now the development of holistic platforms for real-time data monitoring and processing. In this paper, we shed further more light on the integration of these technologies into a holistic platform for real-time sensing, processing, and data visualization. A platform prototype was developed and tested for detailed profiling of energy consumption in buildings. It allows measuring and monitoring the electric power consumption of individual appliances. A testbed was deployed in our university building and results are reported to show the usefulness of the proposed platform. © 2017 IEEE.

cloud computing has become a revolutionary paradigm by provisioning on-demand and low cost computing resources for customers. As a result, scientific workflow, which is the big data application, is increasingly prone to adopt cloud computing resources. However, internal failure (host fault) is inevitable in such large distributed computing environment. It is also well studied that cloud data center will experience malicious attacks frequently. Hence, external failure (failure by malicious attack) should also be considered when executing scientific workflows in cloud. In this paper, a fault-tolerant scheduling (FTS) algorithm is proposed for scientific workflow in cloud computing environment, the aim of which is to minimize the workflow cost with the deadline constraint even in the presence of internal and external failures. The FTS algorithm, based on tasks replication method, is one of the widely used fault tolerant mechanisms. The experimental results in terms of real-world scientific workflow applications demonstrate the effectiveness and practicality of our proposed algorithm. Inconsistency of workpieces always results in low level automation of subsequent finishing process. As decreasing number of skilled workers, the demands of flexible manufacturing with robots is growing. In this paper, a kind of workpiece with complex freeform surface will be chamfered by industrial robots. Due to the intolerant differences among workpieces, traditional teach-playback method for robot is not appropriate for this application. The edge spline of each workpiece needs to be detected so that trajectories are generated to chamfer. Thus, an approach to edge extraction based on a 3D point cloud obtained by the 3D industrial camera is introduced to solve this problem. A time optimizing method is proposed to accelerate the extraction process. Finally, we decrease computing time from 55 minutes to 300 seconds, and the precision is 0.4180 mm.
