Identity and Access Management (IAM) in cloud computing is a large domain that offers the ability to securely access cloud resources. In the cloud computing paradigm, an efficient IAM is significant for maintaining the Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability (CIA-triad) of the data that is stored in the cloud. As IAM is an essential security component of cloud computing, it cannot be overlooked and needs attention from the research community. This paper outlines the significance and proper understanding of directory services, which arc at the center of an organization's IAM because they map user access to different applications and devices. The paper also discusses directory-as-a-service solution which lessens the challenges that organizations face with a directory. In Directory-as-a-service model, the focus is on the directory delivered as cloud service i.e. directory service is provided through the cloud instead of on premise directory solutions.

In cloud computing environment the resources are managed dynamically based on the need and demand for resources for a particular task. With a lot of challenges to be addressed our concern is Load balancing where load balancing is done for optimal usage of resources and reduces the cost associated with it as we use pay-as-you-go policy. The task scheduling is done by the cloud service provider using preemption and non-preemption based on the requirements in a virtualized scenario which has been focused here. In this paper, various task scheduling algorithms are studied to present the dynamic allocation of resources under each category and the ways each of this scheduling algorithm adapts to handle the load and have high-performance computing. © 2017 IEEE.

Today, demand of distributed computing technique has grown drastically where cloud computing also has gain considerable attention from researchers and industries for various applications. cloud computing is provided by cloud service provides where various virtual machines are deployed to accomplish the assigned task. During cloud deployment, cloud service providers aim on the energy cost reduction, load-balancing and efficiently accomplishment of the task. Several researches have been carried out to improve the performance of cloud computing but still there are various issues are unaddressed such as load-balancing, resource allocation, VM migration and energy efficient task scheduling etc. In this article, we have reviewed recent techniques of load-balancing, and resource allocation and discussed about their advantages and drawbacks. A future work plan is also focused for energy efficient load balancing techniques by which performance of cloud computing is enhanced. © 2017 IEEE.

The WELCOME system is an innovative telemonitoring system designed to provide constant monitoring of COPD patients also suffering from other major comorbidities. It consists of a sensors vest capable of recording various vital parameters in real time and transmitting them to the cloud via a tablet PC and wireless connection. In addition, peripheral devices record extra physiological data which is coupled with responses to validated health questionnaires that the patient responds to via the tablet. A dedicated medical decision support system (DSS) and a medical professional user interface support the system in providing automated detection of abnormal conditions. The obtained signals included Heart and Respiratory Rate, Body Posture, SpO2, multi-lead ECG, Auscultation and Electric Impedance Tomography. The system is tested with pilot studies in two European countries, Greece and UK. The preliminary results from the Greek pilot study are presented in this paper, highlighting the main findings from the first operational use of the WELCOME infrastructure. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2018.

The thermo-physical properties of the ionic liquids are required for engineering and product design applications in many pharmaceutical and food industries. Among the many unique properties of ionic liquids, their surface tension plays an important role for various reasons. In the present study, the aim is to investigate the effect of temperature and concentration on the surface tension of the binary solution of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide + water. The concentration of the ionic liquid is varied from 0.1–0.6%w/w and temperature ranges from 302.85–337.45 K. A quadratic mathematical model has been formulated for predicting the surface tension using response surface methodology with central composite rotatable design having a coefficient of determination R2 as 0.9807. In addition, a two-layered feed forward back propagation neural network 2-4-1 is also modelled which provides a better performance when compared to response surface model. The developed ANN model can predict the surface tension with mean square error, root mean square error and percentage absolute average error equal to 0.156, 0.395 and 0.623, respectively. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2018.

Intel(R) Software Guard eXtensions (SGX) is a hardware-based technology for ensuring security of sensitive data from disclosure or modification that enables user-level applications to allocate protected areas of memory called enclaves. Such memory areas are cryptographically protected even from code running with higher privilege levels. This memory protection can be used to develop secure and dependable applications, but the technology has some limitations: (i) the code of an enclave is visible at load time, (ii) libraries used by the code must be statically linked, and (iii) the protected memory size is limited, demanding page swapping to be done when this limit is exceeded. We present DynSGX, a privacy preserving tool that enables users and developers to dynamically load and unload code to be executed inside SGX enclaves. Such a technology makes possible that developers use public cloud infrastructures to run applications based on sensitive code and data. Moreover, we present a series of experiments that assess how applications dynamically loaded by DynSGX perform in comparison to statically linked applications that disregard privacy of the enclave code at load time. © 2017 IEEE.

The system of collection, transmission and processing of data for wearable sensors for personal health care using the heart rate monitoring, skin temperature and electrophotonic imaging (EIP) sensors is described. EPI instrument based on the stimulation of photon and electron emissions from the surface of the object is used. The paper describes the interaction of the system components, the methods and hardware implementation of data transfer, information about computer software for working with database servers and client terminals as well as components of a remote patient monitoring system based on cloud architecture. The service selection based on QoS is very important in mobile Web service computing, because QoS is highly uncertain in service providing for mobile applications. From the uncertain QoS data described, a parallel service selection method based on adaptive cloud model (PSSM_ACM) is presented for the first time. First, PSSM_ACM employs cloud model to portray QoS to solve the QoS's uncertainty in mobile applications. Then, 2 kinds of backward QoS cloud generator are introduced to convert big QoS data to QoS cloud model, and a QoS cloud model adaptive adjustment mechanism is introduced too. Next, by reference the technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution (TOPSIS) theory, 2 kinds of service selection algorithm are designed to obtain the optimal service reflecting user's QoS needs. The last, some experiments demonstrate the superiority and efficiency of our approach.
