In this paper we propose a full automatic segmentation of the knee cartilage from magnetic resonance images (MRI). The new segmentation approach is based on a combination of the Vector Field Convolution (VFC) image's features and radial search algorithm. The proposed approach provides an automatic segmentation and a 3D visualization of the knee cartilage.

Due to advances in wireless network technology, new applications are designed in medical and health care domain. Medical personnel efficiency has increased by using these new tools and applications. Patient of young and elderly people as well as smart houses equipped with sensors and information technologies are subject to discussion. Patients wear sensors to monitor vital signs reported in real-time to their doctors, which improves the quality of health care and allows them to spare money. In our work, we have developed a prototype of medical monitoring for elderly people by using several technologies such as REST, Jess rule engine and Android in order to have a flexible application in future changes.

In this paper average power consumption and timing parameter i.e. read access time, write access time and retention time comparison of 3T1D DRAM is carried out. These analyses are carried out on 32nm scale. This DRAM cell is used in high performance embedded system. A technique is being used in the paper to improve average power consumption and read access time for 3T1D DRAM to make it more comparable to the SRAM 6T. A circuit to improve the average power consumption and the read access time of the 3T1D cell are analyzed. These circuits are analyzed on TANNER EDA. Circuits are designed on SEDIT and simulated on TSPICE.

In this paper, we study the employability of compressed sensing algorithms in the context of multiuser detection in machine to machine systems over 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Long-Term Evolution (LTE) framework. The key idea of this work is to exploit the sparsity in the Machine to Machine (m2m) communication which is rendered by the sporadic nature of the transmission by the machines. We have analyzed the Bit Error Rate (BER) performance for various signal to noise ratio conditions and the impact of sparsity indicated by the probability of activity, operational frequencies and antenna spacing at the base station on the detection performance of the system. Through the results, we substantiate that the compressed sensing algorithms prove to be a viable choice for multiuser detection and practical implementation.

Carbon nano tube is very promising material with better electric and optical properties. Here we present the idea about three 2x2 coupler designs with PVC-MWCNT material. The couplers are simulated on FDTD environment. AU the couplers are designed in maximum footprint of 3 mu mx6 mu m. The operating wavelength range of coupler is 0.7 mu m-1.0 mu m with refractive index of 2.7 and 1.47 for core and cladding respectively. The simulation results showed the variation in excess loss and splitting ratio in given wavelength range. Here we got the minimum excess loss 0.82 dB in Directional Coupler and minimum splitting ratio variation 32.76% in CGC 50 degrees. Overall the moderate excess loss and splitting ratio is got in CGC60 degrees.

Support Vector Machines (SVM) are considered as one of the most commonly used pattern recognition techniques for various applications. In this paper, a novel attempt is made to design and implement SVM classifier using Reconfigurable architecture on a Xilinx Virtex-5 FPGA. The performance of proposed reconfigurable system is compared with its conventional non-reconfigurable architecture and the results are reported. In order to explain the functionality of the proposed system, design of digital circuits using SVM classifier is considered in this work. The proposed reconfigurable architecture can be easily adapted for various other applications too.

Generation of semantically meaningful ontology of Indian languages based terms, concepts, and their relations specially when talking about Hindi language, becomes a tedious task to approach without any disambiguation, where in a single change of relation, specific individual sub-node of ontology changes. This paper presents an approach for semi-automatic conversion of agricultural Hindi terms, concepts and their relations into structured ontology and processes into subsequent rdFization. Structured format uses its powerful mechanism of inheritance and reasoning capability to inference learning feature of loosely coupled and high bonding between nodes. This increases reusability, enhances data sharing on the web and graphically connected, making data machine readable and interoperable and so on. Hence, linking data which of machine readable format may prove to be of great significance specifically where information and data is highly sharable. This paper explores and collects some unstructured terms, concepts, relations of agriculture domain using IndoWordNet and generates ontology which finally gets converted into rdF/OWL format meeting with accordance of W3C standards.

The area of image processing has offered remarkable ideas and competent compression algorithms in the past few decades. The accretion of data generated by applications validate the use of different image compression schemes to decrease the storage space and time for transferring the images over the link. Each of the compression schemes provide different image quality metrics viz. PSNR, MSE, Compression ratio, Normalized Cross Correlation, Normalized Absolute Error etc. This paper implements 3D-Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) for compressing high resolution images with substantial amount of background. It presents the evaluation of the implemented algorithm, along with the performance comparison of other compression schemes viz. JPEG Lossy, Sub-Band replacement DWT and K-Means. It proves to be a dominant technique for multi-spectral images with improved quality parameters achieving 38-4OdB PSNR.

Nth -Dimensional Truncated Polynomial Ring (NTRU) is a lattice-based public-key cryptosystem that offers encryption and digital signature solutions. It was designed by Silverman, Hoffstein and Pipher. The NTRU cryptosystem was patented by NTRU Cryptosystems Inc. (which was later acquired by Security Innovations) and available as IEEE 1363.1 and X9.98 standards. NTRU is resistant to attacks based on Quantum computing, to which the standard RSA and ECC public-key cryptosystems are vulnerable to. In addition, NTRU has higher performance advantages over these cryptosystems. Considering this importance of NTRU, it is highly recommended to adopt NTRU as part of a cipher suite along with widely used cryptosystems for internet security protocols and applications. In this paper, we present our analytical study on the implementation of NTRU encryption scheme which serves as a guideline for security practitioners who are novice to lattice-based cryptography or even cryptography. In particular, we show some non-trivial issues that should be considered towards a secure and efficient NTRU implementation. © 2014 IEEE.
