The mathematical model of a two-wheeled robotic machine (TWRM) with five degrees of freedom (DOF) is utilized in this paper to enlarge the workspace and enhance the robot's flexibility. The suggested machine features five degrees of freedom (DOFs), which makes it suitable for pick-and-place, material handling, and packing tasks in the workplace. The proposed architecture will make it more difficult to control the system to account for the center of mass' (COM) location changing as a result of managing tasks that must be performed in multiple directions. The state space model was created by linearizing the non-linear modeling equations at the equilibrium point using the Lagrangian modeling. Numerous controllers, including the proportional-integral-derivative (PID), linear-quadratic regulator (LQR), and PID with LQR methods, were tested in order to stabilize the robot. The PID with LQR technique, where PID was used as a feedforward to control the intermediate body (IB) and end-effector and LQR was used as state feedback to regulate all states. These controllers were evaluated while taking into account a variety of circumstances (disturbance signals, tracking pathways, and moving actuators). In terms of least overshoot, rising time, and applied input forces, simulation results showed that PID with LQR controller tuned performed better than the other two control systems. © 2023 IEEE.

The high-pressure fuel system is an important part of the transmitter. In its working process, the oil enters or sprays out, which will cause pressure changes. The pressure in the high-pressure oil pipe is basically stable at about 100MPa, and the density pressure formula is specially corrected. The correction value is +0.018 through the weighted average. The classic PID control algorithm is used to easily realize the control process of voltage stabilization from 100MPa to 150MPa. This paper establishes three models, namely, the high-pressure oil pump model, the fuel injector model and the decompression model. The MATLAB simulation software is used to display the results, and the fuel pressure and quality in the high-pressure oil pipe are used to connect the three models. The parallel operation method reduces the overall operation workload of the system, with good robustness and good scalability. © 2023 SPIE.

Turbulence refers to the instability of air movements in which the speed has a whirling character at all points. This is a phenomenon often observed and generates sometimes violent movements that can disrupt flight in the case of aerodynamic interactions with aircraft. Bodily accidents due to turbulence are numerous, but they can be avoided with good control and prediction of the fluid behavior around this structure. In order to do this, designers are increasingly using numerical modeling to boost these aircraft's efficiency. We carried out a numerical analysis of the two-dimensional transonic flow on a NACA 0012 airfoil using the ANSYS/FLUENT software in order to compare the capacity of different turbulence models to predict results that are similar to those of experimental studies. The results were compared to the provided experimental data in the high Reynolds Number range of 9.106. Then, a comparison based on the RANS, LES and Hybrid approach in order to obtain a better control of the profile performance. We demonstrated that Spalart-Allmaras model of Dettached Eddy simulation gave good results for unsteady flow over the wing. © 2023 IEEE.

LIBS technology is subject to significant noise interference when obtaining sample spectra due to the influence of external environment and equipment itself. To achieve better denoising effect, this article improves the threshold function based on a detailed analysis of wavelet threshold denoising, and proves its correctness. Solved the problem of defects in denoising between hard threshold functions and soft threshold functions. Finally, denoising was applied in coal spectra, and simulation consequences showed that the improved denoising method had better denoising effect. © 2024 IEEE.

This study presents a model for predicting the low-cycle fatigue life of steel reinforcing bars using Artificial Neural Network (ANN). A Radial Basis Function (RBF) artificial neural network topology with two additional hidden layers and four neurons (processing elements) in each of these layers is used. The input parameters for the network are the maximum tensile strain (epsilon(s,max)) and the strain ratio (R) and the output of the ANN is the number of cycles to fatigue failure (N-f). Low-cycle fatigue tests were conducted by the authors in a previous study for different types of steel reinforcing bars subjected to different strain amplitudes and at different strain ratios. The data resulted from these tests were used to train and test the ANN. It is observed that the ANN prediction of low-cycle fatigue life of steel reinforcing bars is within +/- 2 cycles of the experimental results for the majority of the test data. A parametric study had been carried out to investigate the effect of maximum strain and strain ratio on the fatigue life of steel reinforcing bars. It is concluded that both the strain ratio and the maximum strain have significant effect on the low-cycle fatigue life of such bars, especially at low values of maximum strain and their effect should be considered in both analysis and design. Reinforcement learning has attracted much attention in the field of mechanical control, but it has rarely been applied in projects requiring high precision and short control cycle. In order to realize the high frequency and high precision control of multi axis cooperative complex mechanism, this paper decouples and virtualizes the control system of a structure consisting of four valves, infers commands and send control signals at 500Hz, and controls the displacement precisely. The author modified the Proximal Policy Optimization algorithm and made some improvements in the updating rules and training environment, such as batch advantage normalization, attenuation of learning rate, strategy entropy reward, speed control reward, and addition of noise. Finally, the performance of the algorithm exceeded that of PID, ray-PPO in the simulation. © 2023 IEEE.

E-polis is a multi-platform serious game that gamifies a sociological survey for studying young people's opinions regarding their ideal society. The gameplay is based on a user navigating through a digital city, experiencing the changes inflicted, triggered by responses to social and pedagogical surveys, known as "dilemmas". The game integrates elements of adventure, exploration, and simulation. Unity was the selected game engine used for the development of the game, while a middleware component was also developed to gather and process the users' data. At the end of each game, users are presented with a blueprint of the city they navigated to showcase how their choices influenced its development. This motivates them to reflect on their answers and validate them. The game can be used to collect data on a variety of topics, such as social justice, and economic development, or to promote civic engagement and encourage young people to think critically about the world around them. © 2023 IEEE.

The Schrödinger equation is widely used in theoretical research in the fields of atomic and molecular physics, particle physics and nuclear physics, solid state physics, and photonics. As a first principle, it plays an important role in these applications. However, solving the Schrödinger equation numerically requires a relatively large amount of storage space and calculation. The emergence of modern graphics processing units (GPUs) provides an opportunity for the efficient solution of this equation. In this paper, on the basis of using the finite difference method to solve the three-dimensional Schrödinger equation algorithm, using the graphics processor Tesla V100 as the computing platform, through theoretical analysis and numerical simulation, using data structure layout and organization optimization, data merge reduction, synchronization elimination and merge kernel function optimization and other methods give full play to the hardware characteristics of the GPU and optimize the three-dimensional time-dependent algorithm for solving Schrödinger equation on the GPU. Experimental results show that, compared with the original GPU-based algorithm, the optimization method used in this paper can speed up the program by 1.476 times under the same number of loop iterations. © 2023 SPIE.

In modeling and simulation, face validation with domain experts is a recommended validation technique applied after implementing the conceptual model. Experts can offer early feedback on the prediction results. Experts' empirical experiences can identify mistakes in the conceptual model and help estimate initial values of key parameters to save time for later calibrations. This work proposes a three-phase method to conduct face validation with police investigators and crime analysts to validate an agent-based crime risk prediction model. The three phases focus on verifying the prediction results, the behavioral design of target individuals, and the risk estimation process respectively. We present each phase's goals, details, and types of validity addressed to provide clear guidance on adopting the method. Quantitative results of the feedback have shown that our face validation improves the correctness of the conceptual model and boosts intended users' confidence in the model results. Our work also provides additional empirical experiences in urban crime prediction. The experimental results show the potential of the proposed method for validating other software systems with domain experts' knowledge. © 2023 IEEE.
