Up to now, skin cancer is one of the most common cancers with great danger, thus it is very essential to diagnose at an early state to save patients lives. Recent work has applied methods based on convolutional neural networks(CNNs) to classify images of skin lesions for diagnosis. However, most of these methods failed to work well on mobile or embedded devices due to the huge computational cost and memory requirements. Even though lightweight CNNs have been developed for mobile devices, they perform poorly on multi-classification tasks. To solve these shortcomings, we propose a method based on multi-level feature fusion and attention mechanism, MFA-MViT. The effectiveness of MFA-MViT was evaluated on the ISIC-PAD dataset built based on the ISIC2019 and PAD-UFES-20 datasets. The experimental results show that the classification effect is better than that of similar methods within a small amount of computation and parameters. © 2023 IEEE.

To guarantee high-quality and trustworthy data, we first highlight the need of preprocessing. The dataset is prepared for analysis by using standard methods such as data cleansing, normalization, and feature engineering. The technique relies heavily on the feature selection process, which picks out the most informative aspects of a large collection of clinical, imaging, and laboratory data. ReliefF (Relief Feature Selection), Recursive Feature Elimination (RFE), and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) are three of the most popular feature selection techniques utilized here. These techniques make it easier to find unique characteristics in data, which in turn makes machine learning models more effective. A logistic regression model is used to predict the likelihood of autoimmune encephalitis based on certain characteristics to make an early diagnosis. In addition, linear programming is used to incorporate treatment optimization as an optimization issue. This guarantees that the suggested strategy maximizes therapy effectiveness within the bounds of possible side effects, available resources, and individual patient preferences. By adhering to a code of ethics, we preserve patient privacy and meet all applicable regulations. The suggested technique provides a holistic answer for autoimmune encephalitis evaluation and management. It greatly enhances diagnostic precision, therapeutic efficacy, and computational efficiency by merging data mining, AI, and mathematical modeling. These developments, together with our dedication to ethical compliance, make our method a very attractive and effective option for the diagnosis and individualized treatment of autoimmune encephalitis. © 2023 IEEE.

At present, robot target detection is widely used in tremendous fields including industrial, home, and commercial robots. However, the existing detection methods have some problems, such as low recognition accuracy, slow processing speed, and poor adaptability to the environment. In this work, an object detection model based on deep learning was designed, which mainly included a feature extraction network, a regional suggestion network, and an object classification and localization network. The feature extraction network uses the pre-trained ResNet-50 as the backbone network to extract the high-dimensional features of the image. The region proposal network (RPN) is responsible for generating high-quality candidate regions, which are then fed into subsequent classification and location networks. The target classification and localization network utilize multilayer perceptron (MLP) to perform accurate target category classification and bounding box regression for candidate regions. experimental results show that the proposed model is significantly better than the traditional target detection methods in terms of accuracy and real-time performance. © 2024 SPIE.

Granular materials in nature possess a wide range of morphologies, varying from very round to highly irregular shapes. It has been reported that the morphological characteristics play a crucial role in the interlockings or arrangements of the particles, which affect the mechanical behaviour of granular material during compaction, consolidation and conventional monotonic, cyclic loadings, etc. Therefore, knowing the quantitative parameterisation of a particle’s morphological properties is very important for the macro- and micro-investigations of granular materials, especially for the discrete element methods (DEM). However, it is challenging to quantify the morphological properties for highly angular particles by traditional methods such as visual inspection, etc. This study adopted a numerical method to analyze the parameterisation of morphological properties by using computational geometric and discrete Fourier series (FS) approaches. Using a 2-dimensional SEM image with a high density of the boundary points, a complex particle shape was reconstructed. The re-produced points are used for corner detection and computationally measuring some particle shape descriptors. From the results, for complex particles, the FS degree is recommended should be higher than 15 for good results. Besides, the roles of some shape descriptors in geomechanics are discussed to provide some remarkable points for readers on the influences of particle properties on the behaviour of granular materials. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Exploring large-scale environments autonomously poses a significant challenge. As the size of environments increases, the computational cost becomes a hindrance to real-time operation. Additionally, while frontier-based exploration planning provides convenient access to environment frontiers, it suffers from slow global exploration speed. On the other hand, sampling-based methods effectively explore individual regions but fail to cover the entire environment. To overcome these limitations, this paper presents a hierarchical exploration strategy that integrates frontier-based and sampling-based methods. The proposed strategy consists of a local exploration stage and a global exploration stage. The local exploration stage rapidly expands the free space within environments, while the global stage guides robots to different sub-regions. In the local exploration stage, the planner uniformly samples viewpoints within a sliding window and assesses their utility based on the number of frontiers, which are continually updated as the map evolves. Once a local sub-region is fully explored, the planner initiates global planning to relocate robots to other sub-regions with frontiers. To improve the search speed of global topological graph, this paper introduces a method for constructing a sparse topological graph. During the exploration process, the planner incrementally constructs a three-dimensional sparse topological graph by dynamically capturing the spatial structure of free space through uniform sampling. In various challenging simulated environments, the proposed method demonstrates comparable exploration performance to state-of-the-art approaches. Notably, in terms of computational efficiency, our method achieves a single iteration time that is only one-tenth of the latest and most advanced methods. © Beijing HIWING Scientific and Technological Information Institute 2024.

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of car speed on the stress on a coil spring. 60-s strain signals measured on the coil spring of a car that was driving at speeds of below 20 km/h, 40–50 km/h, and above 70 km/h were utilized as the input. From the dynamic analyses, it was found that the increase in speed was directly proportional to the increase in stress. Each increase of the speed of 10 km/h was followed by an increase of stress by almost 10 kPa. The highest stress was obtained when the car was driving at a speed above 70 km/h, which was 645 kPa. This value was 43.7% of the yield strength of the material. Although the stress that occurred was relatively small, it could cause damage to the coil spring because the component is subjected to loading continuously. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

The use of CAD and 3D printing of surgical guides (SGs) for osteotomies is a widely developed practice in orthopaedic surgery, and particularly in maxillo-facial interventions, but validation studies rarely occur in literature. The present study defines a methodology to validate SGs dimensionally and mechanically through geometrical analysis, tensile testing, contact simulations, and abrasion testing. Distortions between the 3D printed SGs and the CAD model are quantified and an average deviation error for each production process step is obtained. mechanical analysis identifies a way of applying the load on the SG to measure their equivalent linear stiffness (N/mm), maximum displacement (mm) and corresponding tolerable load (N) by varying some dimensional parameters. The stress state was assessed by finite element method (FEM) analysis, then the numerical results were compared with experimental ones using tensile tests: stiffness, maximum displacement and the corresponding loads were evaluated. The distribution of contact pressure on soft tissues was obtained numerically by FEM analysis. Finally, an ad hoc machine has been specially built to engrave discoidal specimens with typical operating room conditions. The methodology has been validated using 11 SG fibular and mandibular specimens and reporting the obtained results of each procedure step. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

In this paper, there are two ways for the performance prediction of CPV/T components, heat transfer analysis and BP neural network, based on the nonlinearity of its performance fluctuation and the addition of heat transfer process, with the low-concentration photovoltaic photothermal complex utilization (LCPV/T) system as the research object. The comparison results show that both prediction methods show good prediction accuracy when the irradiance fluctuation is low, and the relative error is controlled within 10%;when the irradiation value fluctuates, the neural network prediction has higher prediction accuracy in some abnormal output determined by special experimental conditions, while the heat transfer analysis has higher overall prediction accuracy. Combining the advantages and disadvantages of both, the heat transfer analysis is suitable for component performance optimization, and the neural network is suitable for component performance prediction at longer time and space scales. © 2023 IEEE.

The study try to solve the general problems in the inventory to maximize some variables in the inventory system with the hybrid methods to get the fitting data then polynomial model was applied to create the model. The data is simulated from the generate dataset, then it uses the algorithm of hybrid Artificial Neural Networks and Analytical Hierarchy Process (ANN-AHP). Moreover, fifth polynomial model is applied. The results shown that the model contribute the maximum revenue from some variables in the inventory *** analysis demonstrated that the result from optimization method start to implement in to the real company. The analysis demonstrated that the result from optimization method start to implement in to the real company This is good for warehouse manager to maximize the profit when managing the inventory system. The paper provides a critical perspective on the minimize the risk through maximization the inventory’s variables when managing the inventory system. The result, the fifth polynomial mathematical model g(x) = − f(x) = − 0.00078*x5 + 0.027*x4 − 0.33*x3 + 1.7*x2 − 2.4*x + 27. This study presents a computational fluid dynamics model investigation of the air-water multiphase flow in elbows, which can be commonly found in many practical applications. The computational model was developed in ANSYS Fluent. The Eulerian-Eulerian approach was used in modelling, which employs individual equations for each phase. Air is injected at a 30 l/min airflow rate to water through nozzles at 16 points placed at equal angles in the circumferential direction. The water flow rate is determined as 180 l/min at the inlet. The test section consists of a complete U-bend system, which is a combination of two horizontal to vertical (upward and downward) and one vertical 180-degree elbow. Our study not only provides a detailed presentation of the numerical modelling methods developed for this complex geometry elbow but also discusses the results obtained from the model. The results are presented for each phase regarding local void fraction and phase velocities. In addition to numerical studies, experimental works were carried out for validation. computational results were compared with the experimental acquisitions, and the results were in good agreement. It is observed that the Eulerian approach gives reasonable results to predict the flow characteristics of air-water flow in elbows.
